"all elderly drivers should get…"
all elderly drivers should get themselves checked out and what a good idea it would be to make it compulsory for offenders!

"My experience was excellent"
My experience was excellent. Being in my 80s I needed to know what bad habits I had and whether my family should worry about my driving. My 'examiner' was very pleasant and professional in every way. It never felt like a test just a friendly advice-session which I welcomed and would recommend to anyone else.

"“You never stop learning"
“You never stop learning, and it is an enjoyable experience taking part in the drives. It also makes you a safer driver.”

"I am 85"
I am 85! 3 year's ago, when I previously renewed my licence, I had an IAM RoadSmart assessment for mature drivers and got the thumbs up to continue driving. So this year I did the same and was again considered competent.
The whole experience was flawless, and since I am a full time Carer my examiner offered to come to me, which was very valuable and generous. The only issue I had, was that the examiner didn't know my area, so I had to navigate my own route, which was something else to think about.
The main benefit was not only knowing that I was competent, but to know what I needed to do to improve, including some things I was not aware of. I am quite sure it has made me a better driver and that it has increased my confidence as a result.
Thank you IAM.

"Doing the IAM Advanced Rider course transformed my riding"
The Advanced Rider course was a truly excellent experience from start to finish. My observer was superb and the progress in my riding skill has exceeded my expectations.
I am a considerably safer and more progressive rider as a result and it has significantly boosted my love of riding. I would strongly recommend it for all riders. I completed it within 12 months of gaining my licence, I started it 4 months after gaining my licence as I felt before that I was still embedding my learning from the basic training. At 4 months I was ready to take on new information and I didn't find that too soon, for me it was perfect timing. Though my local club I have met many people who took the course after decades of riding and found it equally valuable.
My local IAM club, Somerset Advanced Riders (SAM), was a big part of why my experience was so positive. They're a great group of people and have an active events calendar with regular social group rides all year round and an excellent series of theory sessions in a local village hall throughout winter. I have been very impressed with IAM, my local club, the Advanced Rider Course, and most especially my observer (W.E.) who is first class.

"A fun way to go for an advanced test pass."
I passed the IAM advanced test way back in 1991, but that was in a car soon after I qualified as a Driving Instructor. The challenge for me having ridden motorcycles off and on since the early 1970s, was, could I also pass the bike advanced test.
I am very happy to say I did. Even at my age of 71 years old, it's always good to learn something new and put it into practice. I found the local IAM group members are very friendly and professional in their approach to helping riders achieve a good standard. I was lucky though at the very start, as I am also proud to state, I have worked with the IAM as a Professional qualified driver Fleet Trainer for a number of years. An extremely good driver training charity who are professional in all aspects of what they do.

"Very Positive results after taking a refresher"
"I felt very lucky that Gloucestershire was a trial region for undertaking this refresher, it was exactly what I needed. It gave me new confidence. Soon after completing the course, my son was due to pick me up in Cheltenham and he was driving to Holyhead to get the ferry to Dublin, and we were going to tour Ireland. 36 hours before he was due to collect me he tested positive for Covid, so I thought if things can be re arranged, why don't I take my car? This is what happened, and I must have driven about 600 miles. I certainly would not have done this before I did the refresher. So I was very grateful for having been able to undertake the refresher."

"First of all it was hugely enjoyable…"
First of all it was hugely enjoyable and I would have wished for a longer review.
The instructor was excellent and contributed hugely to make the review relaxed. The enjoyment and the relaxed atmosphere was important for me as a 79 year old whose objective from the course was to discover what bad habits I had developed over 62 years.
Thankfully no bad habits.!!
Great course well worth the fee

"Mature Driver Review"
This could have been quite stressful - having your driving scrutinised - but for someone who passed the test in 1965, old habits can gather. In the light of recent tragedies, it seemed to me to be important to get a view on how I drive. My examiner, Mr Colin Gray, was knowledgeable, rigorous, kind and helpful, and gave very clear feedback. I thoroughly recommend putting yourself through this exercise.

"Advanced Driver Course - So Glad I Took It!"
I thoroughly enjoyed this course!
My objective in taking the course was to become a safer driver. Nothing more than that. I hadn't expected to enjoy it, but I did and I'm enjoying driving now in a way that I didn't before the course! I'm undoubtedly now a safer driver.
As for the course itself, the tutors on the formal seminars were excellent and enthusiastic. The observer I was assigned to was an excellent coach and I learned a lot from him.
I attended various other sessions run by the group, including 3-in-a-car sessions and enjoyed them thoroughly.
And the test experience itself was very positive - a relaxed, but nevertheless very thorough run through of the skills I'd picked up over the courses' duration.
