I admit my choice of Explorer was price driven. For this reason alone I am able to provide a 5 star review. The initial purchase was straightforward and all required documentation arrived in my in box - job done. I cannot add any claim experience but the regular travel updates, tips and advice make me feel that I would be treated fairly. Hope I never need to find out.

We booked Explorer travel annual travel Insurance as they were very helpful in getting a good price for an elderly and healthy couple . No claim needed but could phone explorer from anywhere for help if problem arose

Pointless taking insurance out with this Company. After losing my mobile phone overboard on a Ferry in Thailand 2weeks ago , I tried to make a claim for it When I arrived Home, the Insurers required
1. Proof Of Purchase,
2.Proof of Usage:- From Network provider
Name and address
Make and model of device
IMEI number (mobiles only)
Date of first usage
Date of last usage
3.Travel Documentation:-
Boarding Pass or copy of flight itinerary
Check in details
Hotel reservation
4 .Loss Report
Immobilise report:- (Certificate)
The Company will not proceed without this information
1. The phone was 2 years old and privately purchased ....I have no receipt.
2. I was using a 30 day SIM purchased at the Airport from AIS ...
3. I was on a High speed Ferry , I gave the ferry companies name, date and route.
4. No immobilisation report was made because it fell overboard in the Gulf of Thailand.

We purchased annual travel insurance with explorer travel insurance. They gave us a competitive quote so we were happy. Unfortunately when we were on holiday my son came down with a nasty ear infection. I contacted the insurance company and they were extremely helpful, they advise me exactly what to do, they even contacted twice more during the holiday to check how my son was feeling better, and also to check he was ok to fly. At this point I was so impressed with Explorer travel insurance, I felt they went above and beyond.
Unfortunately that’s where it ended. Explorer travel insurance like many other insurance company’s use a claims company called Claims settlements agencies ltd for their claims, this is the worst company I have ever used in my life, they are absolutely awful. We claimed back in July 2024 and are still waiting for a payout, twice now claims settlements agencies ltd have sent payment to the wrong bank account, so we are still waiting. They don’t reply to emails, I’ve sent loads, I’ve also tried calling them numerous times, they refuse to answer any queries and just say someone will call us back within 5 days to give us an update on the status of our claim. They are absolutely useless. We have since made a complaint and will be in contact with the financial ombudsman.
Now I know I am complaining about Claims Settlements agencies ltd, but Explorer travel insurance use this company to deal with all their claims. I paid explorer travel insurance for my policy, not Claims settlements agencies ltd. They should find another company to deal with their claims as this company is shocking.
I am so fed up. This was a simple claim, my son had an ear infection, we followed the advice give by explorer travel insurance, so why over 3 months later am I still waiting for my claim.
As I have already said, a formal complaint has been made and a letter is being sent to the financial ombudsman.

Took out travel insurance as travelling to Canada with elderly mother to visit my brother who lives there....it covered our medical conditions and had cancellation and curtailment cover not for a minute thinking we would need it.
Husband taken ill whilst I was away and I needed to return so he could be hospitalised,booked the next return flight home, got him into hospital and sorted then thought about claiming towards return flights.
Easy forms fill in and printed information to send.....took me 7 weeks to get a GP to fill out the medical form because we had to wait for hospital to hand back to GP surgery! Once this was sent I received an email updating case 3 days later and received payment on day 8 after sending paperwork.
Can't fault the service ....it was just frustrating that the medical form could only be completed by GP when would have been easier and sooner if a consultant vould do it.
