"Rubbish customer service when claiming"
I made a claim for theft which was rejected. I have been taking out travel insurance every trip abroad throughout my life (I'm 65) and made 3 or 4 claims during that lifetime. My claim with Columbus was theft of a bag from a ground level hotel room with an open window that had no security in Calais. We made no police report as we had a train to catch. The hotel said we were liars (well they would) - it's Calais. Our advice - don't book a hotel room in Calais and certainly not on ground floor. There was 4 months left to run on the policy but no refund for cancelling the policy. The customer service from Columbus is my complaint. Multiple agents were dealing with my case over many weeks/months repeating the same questions and asking for a 'hotel report' which I asked to see stated in the T&Cs. I can certainly give a report TO the hotel for its rubbish security.
In response to Columbus below: they take the trouble to respond only to not read what I wrote. Also, my expectation of refund (pro rata) on the 4 months left to run is unused time, not my complaint.

"Claims take far too long to settle"
As with other reviews, claims take an unacceptable time to be settled. Claim was entered early August and all requested evidence was given within two weeks.
As of today, despite a number of chasing emails, I still have no idea when this will be settled, as no one at Columbus responds to requests for this information. Somewhat horrified by other reviews where 6 months or more have passed before settlement!

Ho stipulato un'assicurazione viaggio con Columbus assicurazioni. Qualche giorno prima della partenza io e la mia famiglia abbiamo contratto il Covid. Ho aperto il sinistro con richiesta di rimborso. Ad oggi, ben 5 mesi dopo, nessuna risposta. Ho sollecitato un paio di volte e dicono sempre che hanno molte richieste e stanno facendo tutto il possibile, ah e mi raccomando, non continuate a mandare mail perché si faranno vivi loro.. pessima esperienza. I have used Columbus twice now and have found the online application process very clear and straightforward. I have had queries on the medical declaration and when I asked for help the response was quick and very helpful.
Columbus made the process easy and I would recommend them.
