Very disappointed, have used Columbus for almost 20 years but will not use them again. My flights to Nepal were cancelled in April due to covid. I’ve had to do all of the work phoning and emailing airlines and my terrible booking agent Mytrip with no answer or any sign of a refund, little to no communication from Columbus. Still no pay-out. Very poor.

"WILL NEVER USE AGAIN..."
I am sorry to say I will never use Columbus Direct again. I had annual travel insurance which was due for renewal on the 24th June 2020. I received an email saying they had taken payment of £150.00 and provided my new documents on 11th June. I immediately responded to cancel and requested an immediate refund. I have now waited 63 days for a response, sent 6 emails and nothing. In the middle of a pandemic I could not travel, still cannot travel and won't be travelling for some time. I am APPALLED at the service. Every other company I have dealt with during lockdown/this crisis have been fantastic - from Easyjet to Ticketmaster and many others. Columbus Direct have let me down very badly after myself and my family have used them for years. I am currently not working and have had to pay out for something I will not be using. Do the right thing and REFUND immediately - it is my right to get a refund as stated in their own policy!

Do NOT take out a policy with this company. They failed to cancel a recurring policy when requested in February and then took the amount out in June for the next year - they are being incredibly obstructive about refunding. Pay a few more pounds to get from a trustworthy company.

"Terrible"
I have been trying to settle my insurance claim for many months now. They have asked for documents which are unobtainable and refuse to advise me on how to proceed without this.
Service is unbelievably slow - in excess of 2 weeks per reply to emails.
AVOID AT ALL COSTS.
EDIT: in response to Columbus’ reply below, there has been no further contact from them.

state alla larga da Columbus! Vi chiederanno un sacco di documenti alcuni a pagamento altri addirittura introvabili. E ve li chiederanno "a rate". Quando consegnate quelli richiesti ve ne chiederanno altri, senza fine, solo per non pagare! Noi siamo in lotta da circa un anno e non ci hanno rimborsato ancora nemmeno un euro senza avere ricevuto nessuna contestazione da parte loro sui documenti forniti che quindi risultano tutti conformi.

Further to my previous review we were told no compensation for Disney universal SeaWorld tickets no refund for lost days coming back early. No refund for flights despite being flown Orlando to Chicago then back to Heathrow instead of gatwick and paying £100 taxi between just to get to our car. Useless. Will never use them and btw it took them 4 months to divulge this information. What they actually cover I don't know? Seems as though if you broke your right leg they would only cover the left.

Like many here, if I could give zero stars I would! Have waited since April for my simple and straightforward claim to be dealt with. I understand Covid 19 has had an massive impact but simply reading on here makes me wonder what exactly they are doing! I have contacted on various occasions only to be given incorrect info and fobbed off with promises of contact.....zero happened. Finally got an email today, unsurprisingly, denying the claim....incorrectly. Quoted a random holiday company company saying I can claim from them...I didn’t use them, I booked direct with a private villa owner!!!!! They’re plucking info out of thin air it seems as I see many other customer stating wrong info in their emails. This is concerning to say the least. However, what’s most frustrating is that I’ve waited over 3 months for them to get it wrong. I will be approaching the Ombudsman today, this company cannot be allowed to continue this shambolic level of so called service.
UPDATE - as of today 12th Sept, my claim is still not settled. I contacted Columbus on 26 Aug to point out that they had refused my claim incorrectly as they assumed information rather than read the documents I provided with my initial claim....in April!!! I supplied the correct information (for the second time) and, yes you guessed it the claim has still not been paid. It’s straightforward, for one item!! As I said before I know Covid has had a massive effect on companies but any other business has now recovered from the backlogs they were dealing with but not Columbus!! Oh and they have the cheek to register a complaint on my behalf on 18/08/20, the same day I replied to their refusal of my claim?? AT NO TIME did I register a complaint or ask them to do so!! I realised early in the process there was zero point in a complaint after the call handler told me they had backlogs and were unable to deal with any within their 40 working day timeline. Absolutely disgraceful and in direct contravention of the Financial Conduct Authority ICOBS 8.

"Poor quality, slow service"
Very slow service in resolving our claim, though things moved a little quicker when Columbus was refuting liability.
Their first refusal mentioned a skiing holiday. Our claim relates to a diving holiday 🙈
Their last one stated that COVID-19 was not classed as “an emergency”.
Complaints process is protracted.
I have made numerous requests for a copy of the Claims Charter mentioned on their website, but not received after more than a month.

"Have been with this company for many…"
Have been with this company for many years and never claimed. Claimed this year due to Corona Virus cancelling our flights and holiday. 5 months later they are still not answering calls. They made one call to me when threatened with legal action and promised to settle but never did. Legal action is now being taken.
DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. CHEAP BUT NOT WORTH IT IN THE END.
