"BusyKid has been a God send for my kid"

BusyKid has been a God send for my kid. It’s allows us to transfer the gift cards he’s received to a debit card so he can decide when to spend them. He’s also encouraged to give to charity and even incentivized to save or invest small amounts ($10 min) in stocks. I use the savings match feature as his allowance so he’s encouraged to save as much as he can to maximize his allowance. The app is very easy to use and when I’ve had issue, like setting up the investment account, I just sent an email and the issue was quickly addressed.

"Poor Customer Service"

I have been with busy kids for over a year. Things were going well until recently at least twice when I have transferred money to one of my kids accounts (I have 2 kids on the account) it double charged me. I tried reaching out today and they refuse to give me a call to discuss. They will only email and Cindy continues to say it’s because one of my kids have the same pin and maybe she sent money to herself be mistake. This makes no sense with when the transactions happen only when I transfer the money and it always immediately a double transaction (same amount of money twice at the same time)! I have requested a call back but they only keep emailing me. Then they tell the transactions are coming from my home address every time when I did my last transaction while at my work address and no one was home at the time. Either their system needs updating or something is not right with their app. This is frustrating and I’m thinking it’s time to look elsewhere!

"Disappointing"

It took a very long time to receive the spending card, which is frustrating. It also took five emails back and forth with customer support to actually activate the card and put money on it. We previously had a greenlight card, and busykid is not as user-friendly as that was. I'm still not sure how to do an automatic allowance.

"Great app for kids that normally neglect their chores"

It is a great app for kids that have trouble self motivating. Prior to the app my kids neglected their chores but now that they can see and manage on their own they are more inclined to do the chores without being nagged. Improvement opportunity would be to send the kids a notification after their payment is issues with the amount they neglected to earn during the week

This is a great start in educating our children regarding financial responsibility. There is a learning curve. We had to research the internet and ask friends who have used BusyKid what steps to take to use the investment and charity tools.
