We have been looking for a Mercedes cabriolet for some time now and visited HPL Motors recently. Despite the car they had not being suitable we feel that we must comment about our lovely experience while there. The sales representative who dealt with us, Skye, was pleasant and friendly whilst being thoroughly professional; answering all our questions fully and, if she didn't know the answer, was willing to ask others or find out for us which hasn't always been the case elsewhere with some dealers seeming to make things up as they go along. Every success Skye and we will certainly be back in the future when car searching again.

"Poor after sales support"

I bought a vehicle from the company on the 4th of January. The salesperson was very keen prior to the sale. Prior to driving quite some way to pick the car up, the salesman sent me a video of the car, addressing specific things I had asked for, including rust, the paintwork, etc. It turns out that the information was not accurate. Unfortunately, I could only see the car after 5 pm when it was dark already, even though I arrived at 3 and asked to simply see the car in daylight. Having arrived home, I realised that all was not as promised. I emailed the company, phoned on several occasions, but could not get them to address the problems I had. Every time I am promised someone will come back, but it never happens. No reply to either emails or phone calls. As others have mentioned, I would avoid, especially if you live far away.

Stay away from HPL Motors Oldham!

Our experience with this dealership was awful, especially with the salesperson Lewis. From the start, he kept pushing us to pay a higher deposit than what was shown online. We asked for basic details about the car—like how many keys it had, the service history, and other bits—but no one could give us a straight answer, no matter how many times we asked.

The day before we were supposed to collect the car, we chased them again for the info, and all we got was, “What pending information?” They also said the collection might not even happen on the agreed date. That was the final straw for us, so we canceled the order under distance selling rules since we hadn’t seen the car in person.

Instead of respecting our rights, Lewis tried to threaten us, saying we couldn’t cancel, and refused to refund deposit. I had to remind him that we haven’t seen the car and are well within our rights for refund as per ‘distance selling rules, in response to which he admitted that yes we are entitled for refund. We have chased them several times since but they have disappeared and no refund.

This place is a joke! Don’t fall for their dodgy promises, and definitely don’t rely on anything that their sales rep shares. Check the car in person before paying anything—or better yet, just avoid this dealership altogether!

Wow! If I could give an extra wow I would! I can’t thank Shaun Clancy enough! I have had the best experience buying a car ever! From the moment we spoke Shaun was focused on ensuring I was looked after from start to finish. Today I drove away in my lovely Q2. Nothing was to much trouble, he made sure all my silly 1001 questions were answered with patience and understanding. Shaun’s dedication and customer care was exemplary from the moment we met. My husband and I can not thank him enough, the service, the care and the experience was amazing! The whole team ensured we were comfortable and looked after throughout. I can honestly say, Shaun is an absolute credit to HPL and was the reason we went through with the deal. The car is beautiful and reasonably priced, but the deal was down to Shaun’s care and expertise. Thank you Shaun, we will defo be recommending you to everyone we speak to x
