"Took my car in for a service"

Took my car in for a service, having used this company three times before and also purchased the car from them. The car needed some work, which I paid for before collecting it. However, there were issues with the car as soon as I drove away. I called the company, but they showed no interest. I lodged a complaint, but there was no response.

While the company appears professional when everything is fine, they are completely uninterested when issues arise. You pay main dealer prices expecting certain assurances, but those assurances simply aren’t there. You’re better off saving your money and taking your car to an independent garage instead.

"What's been going wrong for 17 months?"

What's been going wrong for 17 months?! Well where do I start. My car has been in and out of the garage ever since the purchase. The amount of dodgy repairs and problem's I have encountered with HPL Oldham are ridiculous - luckily I have logged all the issues with the finance provider Starline so have a paper trail to take this as far as possible going forward. Last week I took the vehicle back again and was told it was safe to drive. The following day car started smoking again and set on fire!! I have 2 children that travel in this vehicle and was told it was safe, which it wasn't! I was then offered another finance deal, at a loss to myself, which was refused due to outstanding finance on current vehicles and has subsequently left me without a vehicle, still paying for a vehicle I am unable to use and unable to purchase a new car as I can't afford one. Needless to say avoid like the plague! I have utilised Resolver to address this as they aren't forthcoming. £400 a month for what kind of poor service!

Avoid This Dealer if You Value Transparency and Trust.

My experience with this dealership has been deeply disappointing from start to finish. Here’s a summary of what happened:
1. Misleading Deposit Practices:
I was asked to place a £500 reservation fee on a car I hadn’t even seen. I expressed my discomfort, but they assured me the amount was fully refundable. However, the terms they had me sign via an iPad (with no immediate access to the document) stated otherwise. Days later, I received an email confirming the money was non-refundable, effectively turning the “reservation fee” into a non-refundable deposit.
2. Pricing Discrepancy:
I later found the same car elsewhere for over £1,000 less. Despite this, they refused to refund my deposit.
3. Pre-Delivery Issues:
Upon collecting the car, I was promised it would be fully charged. It wasn’t. Worse still, the car couldn’t charge at all—a significant fault they were clearly aware of but chose to ignore to complete the sale.
4. Persistent Mechanical Faults:
On the drive home, I noticed knocking noises from the rear of the car. Their vehicle preparation had clearly been inadequate. After taking time off work to have the car repaired, they failed to fix the issue. They then referred me to Mercedes, who identified multiple faults, yet the problems persisted even after extensive time in the workshop.
5. Lack of Accountability:
Despite the car being returned with both keys and the logbook, the dealership is refusing a refund under the Consumer Rights Act, citing the issues as “age-related.” At just three years old and priced at £21,499, this explanation is unacceptable.
6. Customer Service Failures:
Communication has been abysmal—over 50 unreturned calls and zero accountability from the owner. Additionally, they are not registered with the Motor Ombudsman Scheme, leaving customers with limited recourse.
7. Final Position:
I have rejected the car under the Consumer Rights Act due to its unsatisfactory quality. Despite this, the dealership continues to deny my claim. As of now, I am left without a car, while they attempt to pressure me into accepting a faulty vehicle.

Conclusion:
This experience has been a nightmare. I strongly advise against purchasing from this dealership, particularly if you expect honesty, transparency, or quality customer service.

"Great experience"

Great experience with Shaun buying my car at HPL Oldham. Quick and easy from start to finish, with no pressure at any point. Shaun talked me through all the options and was really knowledgable with the car. He even went the extra mile, changing my tyre on my old car as the tyre burst on the way out of the car park. Definitely going the extra mile! Will return in the future for any new cars.

"Great Experience buying Audi A3"

So far I’ve had no issues at all with my car I purchased with HPL Motors Preston and it’s coming up to 1 year since my purchase. When I purchased my Audi A3 it had an SOS warning fault which HPL told me was just an update needed to be done by a main dealer and they’d reimburse me, when with the dealer it turned out to actually be a major fault with the ECU and it needed replacing. This was a £2000 fix and after contacting HPLs service team, they dealt with Audi for me and I had to just wait for the call to collect my car. I really couldn’t fault how they handled it.

"Excellent Service "

After having a very bad experience with another dealer which i wont mention,(tc) what can i say -
( HPL motors ) wow, what a service. If they had 50 stars it still would not justify how they went above and beyond to help me get my new set of wheels. The nightmare that i have just gone through i don't wish it upon anyone. HPL kept inContact with me on a day to day basis asking how i am and telling me it will be alright. Well yesterday i went and collected my new car and I can not thank Lynsey, Dan & James B enough, I'm in love with my car - i am just so thankful and grateful for all your help and understanding in this process. I would strongly recommend HPL motors for all your car needs , this is how customers should be treated. Once again thank you - Tracey

"Great friendly and professional service."

Found the car I was looking for online and contacted HPL to view the vehicle, was assigned to Lewis who was very friendly and professional. All details of the sale were provided warranties etc nothing hidden. Nothing was too much for him either, easily contactable and would always call back if we could not speak and also did his best to ensure payment were in budget
