"Pass on Guardian…"

I have been a long time Guardian Protection customer. I have the service at my home (replaced ADT) and had it at a beach house. I went to get it for my business. What a mess. The person we dealt with said we had no credit even though we have approved credit with all of our vendors (including other utility services). Each time they said they checked, the rep sent back the wrong company name and addresses. We resent the correct information they repeatedly sent back the wrong info and said we had no credit.

I have a credit service for my businesses that tells me when our credit is checked or when there is an event impacting our credit score. Not once were we notified via the service that Guardian ran our credit.

We were told by Guardian we would have "to pay the entire installation cost up front and the first year of monitoring." Unreal. Or I could add it to my personal account and credit.

Not only am I going elsewhere for my business security but I am now considering changing my home security as well.

"Do not bother to show up for appointments"

I had an appointment today for a system installation with Guardian. They must have sent me 10 email and text reminders about today's appointment. I scheduled 10+ important work calls and took a day off because of this appointment ... and ... THEY DID NOT SHOW UP!!! No one called to tell me they are running late or need to reschedule. I called twice to find out what is going on and was told the install was being done by a subcontractor and they cannot be reached. That's it. No apologies. No information. No showing up. I wasted an entire day waiting for them! So unprofessional. I am calling other alarm companies and will never deal with Guardian again.

"PLEASE READ THIS IN FULL PRIOR TO…"

PLEASE READ THIS IN FULL PRIOR TO WORKING WITH THIS COMPANY. These are things I desperately wish I knew prior to going into a 5 year contract with them. If I could give Guardian Protection zero stars I would. They don’t protect a damn thing. If you were in an actual emergency situation, you would be screwed. BUYER BEWARE.

ISSUE #1
Doorbell camera only records for 30 seconds max then stops even if there is someone beating down your door. I had a recent situation with a neighbor beating on my door, banging and yelling for nearly 4 minutes. The doorbell camera only recorded the first 30 seconds which showed her politely knocking and didn’t get any of the rest. I called Guardian and they said there was nothing they could do and that is just how their cameras are meant to function. And they had the nerve to suggest I buy additional cameras.

ISSUE #2
Cameras completely stop working once you reach a certain amount of recordings each month. I hit a maximum recording quota that I didn’t even know existed (I only have a doorbell camera and back door camera). Hitting that quota stopped both of my security cameras from recording. And then to top it all off, because I hit that quota it subsequently turned off all of my recording rules without my knowledge so that even when the recording was supposed to restart, it still wasn’t recording because they stopped all my recording rules. I had to go back in and manually restart them again. Thus, my cameras were essentially off for days, if not weeks.

What is the point of having an expensive security system if this is what it does? I just wanted to feel safe in my home and thought they could provide that. Now, I’m stuck in a 5 year contract with a deceitful company and I’m thousands of dollars in the hole.

"Terrible customer service...bad company."

Contracts lock the customer into their terms even if the service is not provided. Months of getting charged without getting the service. Complete defensive attitude towards solving the issue. Not the smartest company out there, for sure.

"Great install of new updated equipment in challenging cold temperatures!"

Technician was very knowledgeable and courteous, working in the coldest weather of the early winter. He was able to remove old system and install a beautiful new system with improved cameras and technology.

"Nothing but problems"

Wow, they really went downhill! I had them for many years at another property and all was good. We had equipment installed for our new home and it’s been nothing but issues. In two weeks they’ve had to come back at least 3-4 times because something wasn’t installed correctly or the equipment that brought was faulty. I had an urgent request for someone to come out because a sensor was bad and it needed to be fixed by the next day. I was promised a call by 8:30am the next morning to see if someone could come. They never called. The other day the alarm went off and they never called so see if everything was ok. We get an alarm for a reason. Don’t we pay for protection? I’m having them remove the entire system the next time they come out and I’m not paying them one dime. Save yourself lots of aggravation and look elsewhere!

"Guardian is a crook"

Guardian is a crook! The way they enter contracts is deceitful and misleading. They do not disclose relevant terms such as term of agreement and cancellation fees, and have you sign on the spot, in front of a technician, on a tiny computer pad where they preload your signature. A technician came to my house and I specifically told him I would only be there for 1.5 years. He had me sign on a tiny tablet and then preloaded my signature throughout the agreement. A year and a half later when I contacted Guardian to cancel the service, I was informed that my contract was for 5 years and that there was a $750 cancellation fee to end the contract early. FIVE YEARS!! When I explained the situation to Guardian, they informed me that they had sent me the agreement electronically and that I should have reviewed it within 3 days. At no point did the technician inform me of this. Nor was I informed that my signature would be preloaded throughout the agreement. Guardian took no responsibility and instead informed me that some people elect to continue monthly payments because they cannot afford the breakup fee. This company has a practice of deceiving and profiting at people’s expense.

"If I could give them a zero"

If I could give them a zero, I would! I had so many issues with my system when I got it in Mar 2020. It came with the house I bought. I ended up getting 6 months free monitoring because of the issues. I'm in a 5 year contract, however, I have another job in a different state. I was told I have to transfer my contract with me to my new house, which includes me paying for all new equipment and having to enter into a new 5 year contract. The only lithe way to avoid paying the $750 fee for breaking the contract, which apparently isn't prorated, is if the new homeowners decide to utilize their service. This is the biggest ripoff! Guess I'll be writing another BBB complainant because this is bad business!

"Do not get Guardian protection"

Do not get Guardian protection. They lock you into a 5 year contract after you pay them thousands for a security system. They deny any accountability for errors in installation or failures in product.

I originally purchased my Guardian Protection Service with Guardian on 3/27/2019; through Ryan Homes. I have had several issues from incorrect installation to devices purchased from Guardian Protection malfunctioning. In 2019 I purchased a new home from Ryan Home and had Guardian install my system. The first issue they did not install a hardwired window sensor per my contract agreement in my 4th floor loft. The second issue a hardwire in one my garage window, the sensor was cut. To resolve the two issues Guardian installed external window sensors, the whole point of me going with Guardian was to have everything hardwired, not battery operated. The third issue, their provided fire detector is so sensitive even when I made toast it would go off. I called Guardian to find a resolution, they just try to sell me more products, instead of resolving the issue. I ended up replacing my smoke detector with a Nest smoke detector. The latest issue I reported on July 27, 2022 was the doorbell camera Guardian provided from Skybell lags and does not capture motion, such as package delivery. I had to install a separate camera to capture motion. I called Guardian technical support and was told this is a known issue with Skybell and that they are moving away from Skybell to their own doorbell. I was sent to loyalty support. Turns out their products only have a 1 year warranty, but Guardian signs you into a 5 year contract. I just asked for a new doorbell and they tried to charge me $350 for a new doorbell and lock me into another 5 year contract. I ended up getting a ring doorbell instead. I want to terminate my Guardian contract without penalty. My current termination date is 3/27/2023. I want this contract terminated immediately. It has been a nightmare dealing with Guardian and the horrible products and expensive services. There is no service, all they want to do is make you spend more money instead of providing technical support or finding a resolution.
