I had a very positive experience traveling with the European Sleeper from Brussels to Berlin and back in August 2023. The train was on time, everything worked and the service was very professional. The cars are old but ok. It’s a start-up trying to do a good thing. If you expect an Orient Express service you need to go somewhere else.

"Worst sleeptrain I took ever!"

Unannounced left the train ealier.. without any communication! We had to ask the customer services ourselves for a solution. Than places got mixed

"Developing initiative"

I really like the initiative of European night trains and this is worth one of my stars (this is a crowdfunded night train, check out the initiative on their website if you don’t know them!).I can see they are eagerly working on the feedback they get, even from these reviews here on trustpolot: it is easier now to regulate the temperature in the compartments, there are two power sockets, they did allow me to have a compartment to myself due to low occupation even though I booked to share with three other people… these are all things I see other reviews tapping into. I also agree with the positive remarks such as that the staff is very friendly and that the compartments are surprisingly functional and very clean for how vintage they are (the upholstery was cleaner than that of a 4 star hotel I recently visited for work) . One positive remark that I haven’t read but I found quite crucial is that the other people in the train were QUIET. When we boarded and everyone was getting used to their compartment, I could hear voices and laughter all around me and thought this would become a problem, but they managed to inspire people to stay quiet shortly after we departed. I also liked their solution to bedding: you get a bedsheet sleeping bag and a blanket that you can put over it. Ingenious and affordable. At the same time, I do think that the journeys, as they are now, are more of an adventure and less of a comfort ride and I understand that, especially the customers who paid a higher price to have a compartment for their own, feel disappointed. For me, the elements that made it less comfortable were the feel of the vintage carriages - even though I felt more comfortable after observing them in the daylight and seeing how clean they were, the upholstery reminds me of overused metro seats and this was not inviting-, the fact that I was not ready for that feel because the branding of the website suggests something very defferent -this I think really made a difference for me- and the fact that the beds were too short for me - I am 183 cm tall-. Also the beds are indeed upholstered planks, as somebody here remarked. I did not have a problem with this, though. I think if I travelled again I would feel more comfortable. I only did a one way journey.

Overall, I could feel the enthusiasm of the people behind the project to make it work with what they have and I would really like to cheer them on!

"Dutch steward"

The moment i arived in Germany, there was a very rude dutch steward. Curly hair with glasses ( date 04-06-2024) he told me i was in the wrong cabin. Than i had to look for myself. After i ask for a drink. Nobody came. I did not had a pillow or blenked. I had it cold whole night.

"Anniversary Trip with European Sleeper"

My husband and I celebrated our anniversary with a trip to Prague, booking our journey with European Sleeper.
Although the main attention was the destination, we were amazed and pleasantly surprised by the train journey even more. Starting from the staff, who was so friendly and helpful, to the coaches (which even though "vintage", they were clean, with fresh linen and pillows) to the breathtaking landscapes which we could watch directly from the bed.
European Sleeper was not only a means of transportation for us, but a way of making our trip more memorable and romantic.

"Night train concept"

I love how the train works, schedule is clear and people are friendly, best of all, this saves a lot of money from the hotel stay, sleep and wake up at the destination, i only wish that there are more such train in Euorpe! Looking forward to take the train again.

Great service, very comfortable, I love the small touches like water bottle on the train, everything was relatively clean, i took the journey from Amsterdam to Prague and back without any issues, able to sleep and wake up at your destination.

"Missing bed sheets "

There were six people in the compartment but only three sets of sheets. We asked the conductor three times for the miss sheets, he always said he'd bring them shortly but never did.
