"A Week Exploring Iceland in the Jeep Renegade"

I rented a jeep renegade from them for a week in late July 2024. They picked me up from the airport and the transportation to the building was easy. The check in process only took about 5 minutes. They made everything quick and seamless. The jeep worked perfectly. I had such a fun time exploring the country over the weekend and the jeep was the perfect vehicle for it! The check out process was just as easy - basically handed them the keys and they did a quick reviews. Then it was a short few minute wait and I was shuttled over to the airport. 10 out of 10 experience!

A great experience. The staff is professional. The van is well equipped and clean. An experience to be absolutely repeated.

"Few things please improve"

Overall experience with rent.is is OK but following things really need improve. I like the Toyota Hilux. very capable truck in f-roads. But when we pick up that truck, agent did not tell us the following:
1. we need put our light switch at on position when drive, not in auto position, because auto position will not charge battery which are used by refrigerator and heater.
2. Agent tell us the car is all-wheel drive, no, it is not. It is 4-wheel drive truck, normal drive use 2 wheel powered, also has 4H and 4L gear options (watch YouTube see how it works). When cross river, need put in 4L and disable auto stop engine (A button).
3. The propane tank almost empty, we struggled to find a gas station which can replace with a new one. Also rent.is does not provide lighter for start fire, this is only find when we in very remote area first day. We don't mind pay extra if they provide full tank of propane. People arrive in Iceland has very limited time and many unfamiliar things to deal with.
4. Agent should tell how to change tire, where the tools are located.
5. Agent should tell customer test out roof, gas, heater, Wi-Fi device before leaving the parking lot. We drove 10 miles then find Wi-fi device not working and drive back to change to new one.
6. The rent.is web site did not mention certain F-roads are not allowed to drive even for 4-wheel drive car. They only mention this rule when you in their office to pick up the car.

"Rent.is was excellent to work with"

Rent.is was excellent to work with. Leading up to our trip they quickly responded to all emails, questions and concerns. Picking up the van was quick and easy even in the middle of the night! The lounge has wifi, coffee and washrooms which is nice if there’s a line . Everything went very smooth and I would certainly rent with them again.

My only suggestions is to add strings so the curtains in the van can be tied back while driving. They would often close if we had the windows open, then we couldn’t see our the back windows. Elastic nets on the side walls of the inside of the van would be nice to have some easy storage at night.

"Rent Is was so easy to work with"

Rent Is was so easy to work with. From picking up the van, driving around the whole country, and dropping off. The van provided everything I needed for a comfortable road trip. I will be booking again for the future.

"VW Caddy / 8 days / ring road"

We rented a VW Caddy for 8 days, did the ring road with it. The car itself was quite old and beat up, cracks on the windshield, everything inside was rattling, the stereo unit wasn't synchronizing with our phones for music etc, heater system was extremely noisy, the bed was curved towards the center so both passengers would roll towards one another while sleeping (this issue also made the bed/mattress less than ideal for the back but one shouldn't expect 5* quality sleep in a camper van in the first place) and one of the sliding passenger door locks would block from time to time making it impossible to open that door.
As someone previously mentioned, this was also an unbranded camper van so perhaps it was a left-over vehicle for last minute reservations.
On the plus side the price was competitive, the car did its job reliably, it was well equipped with a couple of chairs / table / kitchenware, linen and sleeping bags was clean and pick-up / drop-off to their airport office was super easy with a 24h service from very friendly personnel.

"Poor service at pick up"

Poor service at pick up. Knowledge of staff was poor. Impolite and rude. Gas stove in the car could not be used despite being included in the instruction video. One tire ran flat during our driving and we had to change it ourselves. Afterwards they tried to blame us that it was our own fault. This attitude of blaming the customer for everything that was not ok was present throughout. Two years ago we also rented here and service was excellent. Now very different. Would not choose for rent.is again.

"Dacia Duster Roof Camper Leaking Diesel"

Rented a Dacia Duster with roof top camper for one week. The vehicle was a few years old but that was no serious issue. The rental cost was very competitive against other companies.

The rental was a diesel and it was leaking diesel fluid on the ground. This made the car and camper smell of diesel until you got driving a while or the tent aired out. The smell was present from the first moment renting, but the leak only became apparent in the rain.

The camper top was slightly tight quarters for a 6 foot tall person. It was well rain proof, but if you have to close it in the rain some water is trapped in and our bed sheet became moderately wet due to this.

The sleeping bags are fine. The other camping gear is quite cheap. The gas stove was damaged and difficult to operate. There were no forks/spoons/knives provided with the kit. Likely overlooked by the staff.

I would rent again for the cost. I would check out what they provide me with more thoroughly before I leave though. My wife would not rent again. Between the diesel smell and the wet sleeping she became ill and we ended up having to pay for a hotel the last 3 nights for her to rest and recover.
