En super oplevelse af at have lejet campervan hos Rent.is.
Deres hjemmeside er nem og forståelig, da jeg skulle bestille. Efterfølgende blev jeg kontaktet af Hilmar, der gerne ville bekræfte min ankomst med mig. Han har hele vejen igennem været flink til at svare på mine spørgsmål og gav hurtigt svar.
Når man ankommer er shuttlebussen til Rent.is nem og hurtig.
Campervanen har været fantastisk at køre rundt i, den bedste måde at udforske Island på. Indvendig varmesystem fungerer super og der er alt hvad man skal bruge.
Telefonservice fungerer også super. En venlig kvinde svarede på mine spørgsmål omkring bilens melding angående lufttryk i dækkene.
Den sidste stjerne mangler fordi introduktionen til bilen da jeg ankom gik lidt stærkt og personen virkede lidt som om det bare skulle overstås og gerne ville sælge mest muligt til mig (forsikringer og ekstra service).

I had an amazing experience renting a camper from Rent.is in Iceland! The vehicle was in excellent condition, well-equipped with everything we needed, and perfect for exploring the breathtaking landscapes. The customer service was outstanding—friendly, professional, and always ready to help with any questions. The pickup and drop-off process was smooth and efficient. Driving around Iceland in the camper was a dream, offering flexibility and comfort throughout our trip. I highly recommend Rent.is for anyone looking to experience Iceland at its best. Five stars!

"Island Hochland mit Jeep Renegade"

Ich hatte einen Jeep Renegade mit Dachzelt für meine einwöchige Reise in Island gemietet. Abholung am Flughafen hat super geklappt auch das zurückbringen. Nach der ersten Nacht tauschte ich den Schlafsack da bei diesem der Reißverschluss nicht mehr zuging, war alles kein Problem. Die Ausstattung war gut lediglich zwei vollwärtige Stühle (gab nur zwei Hocker) wären schön gewesen. Auch die Matratze im Dachzelt war in Ordnung (und das obwohl ich ziemlich schnell Kreuzschmerzen bekomme). Das Auto selbst hatte 45.000km drauf und war in einem guten Zustand und ich kann darüber nichts schlechtes berichten. War sehr erstaunt was das Auto so alles problemlos mitmacht wenn man an die ein oder andere Hochlandpiste denkt (auch das "klettern" über zum Teil große/spitze Steine haben die Reifen gut mitgemacht). Erstaunt hat jedoch der Spritverbrauch auf normaler Straße der doch recht hoch ist, vor allem im Vergleich zum Hochland. Bei meiner nächsten bereits geplanten Reise werde ich wieder mit rent.is buchen.

Flexibility is a plus for flights that arrive late.
The shuttle to and from the airport comes in very handy.
The staff is nice and helpful.
The only less positive aspect is the camper van, it was not very recent, so some functionalities did not work perfectly. The isolation conditions of the van were also not perfect (light and temperature).
Overall pretty good experience.

"Overall experience "

Airport shuttle was excellent, no issues. The driving of the van itself had no issues, and it was convenient as much as anyone would need it for how cheaper it is compared to other places. Most staff were nice except for the one man when I dropped the car off, story is below.
The good - very responsive staff via email, easy and fast check in and out. Had first aid kit, fire hydrant and smoke detector.
The bad - The bed was made higher and have to bend over to fit before lying down. Cannot fold beds to make an indoor space when it's rainy and windy outside. Have to pay for electricity to make heater work. There were no can opener and dish soap. The propane inside the stove top was empty although there was another extra in the bin. No compartment for dishes or storage for food - just a bin that we had to bring in and out of the van.
Couple things to consider:
1. Make sure you keep your copy of the old dents of the car as they will ask you for that at the end of the trip but will not ask you to keep it in the first place.
I asked them for their copy but they said it goes straight to the main office. I told them they didn't tell me to keep it and they didn't say anything.
2. Make sure you get the discount card with your keys before leaving the rental place.
I realized I didn't get the discount card when I was about to gas for the first time when I was hours away from the city. When I emailed them, they said I can bring the van with less than 1/4th full tank which I did. When I dropped the van off and explained what happened, the man at the counter seemed disappointed with his facial expression, kept shaking his head no and looking at me with disgust and said the discount card is only 40krona or something in that sense. I showed him the email thread and he shook his hand again saying "okay" with an irrate reaction.

Overall, my experience of the rental van and staff was good. The van had almost everything I needed for camping but the convenience and comfort definitely needs more work. It's true when they say "you get what you pay for". Thank you rent.is for a safe and reliable van to add to my wonderful icelandic roadtrip experience.

Our truck was not ready on time. We had to wait almost an hour. The staff threw in some free towels and a table and extended our return time. Besides that a good experience.

"Great camper van rental"

Easy pick up at the airport and quick shuttle to their offices just outside the airport. We rented the 2024 VW camper van and were completely satisfied. The van was super clean and comfortable. The diesel motor sipped fuel and it drove exceptionally well. It even handled many of the gravel roads in the highlands. Sleeping was cozy and convenient. What a great way to see Iceland. Returning was equally as easy and quick and within 5 minutes we were back in the airport.
