"This company is a scam"

This company is a scam. They do not follow through with contracts or their policy. I had to cancel my move and did so in writing within the timeframe indicated in the contract. I also received communication in writing that I would be eligible for a refund. Still 9 months later I have not received a refund and no one will answer our emails asking what could be delaying our refund. The customer service line does not help and only asks that we email to follow up. No one will answer our emails and that is the problem. We have now had to ask our bank to help dispute the amount in hopes that we can finally get our deposit back.

"Avoid at All Costs – Dishonest, Careless, and Unresponsive"

I wish I could give this company zero stars. From start to finish, my experience with Starline Vanlines was a nightmare. They outright lied about their services, broke the majority of my furniture, and now refuse to take pay for the damage.

First, they promised professional handling and "guaranteed" my belongings would arrive safely. Instead, my items showed up jammed into an 18-wheeler and when my furniture finally arrived, almost everything was scratched, broken, or completely destroyed.

Their so-called "customer service" is a joke—they refuse to offer any compensation or even acknowledge their mistakes.

If you care about your belongings and want a stress-free move, STAY AWAY from Starline Vanlines. They are unprofessional, dishonest, and should not be in business. Learn from my mistake and take your money elsewhere.

------------------
replying to their reply 3/14: NONE of my items I packed were damaged so your review of my file in WRONG. The items damaged were dressers/home storage shelves which were my main reason for paying for your services. I have contacted the insurance company and sent them new pictures and only received $81 offer for compensation. That is nowhere near what my items cost. I paid too much for my move to get offered basically nothing for my items.

"DO NOT USE STARLINE VANLINES"

DO NOT USE STARLINE VANLINES – Worst Moving Experience Ever!

If you’re considering Starline Van Lines, DO NOT DO IT! My move from Brooklyn, NY, to Atlanta, GA, was a complete nightmare from start to finish. They misled me, overcharged me, outsourced my move to unknown third parties, and provided horrendous customer service.

Bait and Switch Pricing
I initially agreed to a price of $3,862.68 after being reassured my move would be handled professionally and delivered on time. At the last minute, they claimed my inventory required more space and forced me to pay an extra $750 deposit. But that wasn’t the end of their shady pricing tactics.

On December 23, 2024, a completely different company, Top Rated Moving Van Lines, showed up instead of Starline. They demanded I sign blank documents and later claimed I had exceeded the estimated square footage. If I wanted my belongings loaded, I had no choice but to pay another $1,995.92 in cash via Zelle. At this point, the cost had more than doubled from my original quote. This is blatant fraud!

Delivery Delays & Lies
I was promised my belongings would arrive by Christmas, but after endless calls and emails, I kept receiving different dates. Then, a driver from yet another random company, One Stop Relocation, told me I wouldn’t receive my things until January 4 or 5, 2025. Now, I am being forced to pay ANOTHER $1,995 in cash upon delivery – with no guarantees my items are even intact!

Disgraceful Customer Service
The few times I managed to reach a customer service rep, I was accused of lying and treated with zero professionalism. I left voicemails, sent emails, and followed up multiple times—only to be ignored. Jacob, the original representative, was nowhere to be found after they took my money.

Final Warning – Stay FAR Away!
This company operates unethically and preys on customers with deceptive pricing, hidden fees, and third-party subcontractors. I am now filing complaints with the Better Business Bureau, the Department of Transportation, and other consumer protection agencies.

SAVE YOURSELF THE NIGHTMARE – DO NOT USE STARLINE VANLINES!

"Terrible experience"

I was first quoted an amount but by the time the move happened the cost was more than doubled. B and A movers were their moving company and they ruined so much of my furniture! They gave me $225 for damages but I had atleast $2,000 in damages. Don’t use these people!
My pictures did show a huge hole in the back of my China cabinet! The dowels to hold the glass shelves to my bakers rack missing, legs to king bed frame missing and yes lots of visible scratches to nice furniture!.
I had no way to complete a form online…..I tried numerous times - that’s when I asked you to mail me a form!
I did contact the claim dept over and over again.

"False commitments"

I had a very negative experience with Starline Van Lines during my move from Cary, NC to Flower Mound, TX.

1. I sent a list of items to their relocation specialist(cannot specify as it is against Trustpilot policy) along with measurements. He initially estimated the cubic footage at 358 cf but later increased it to 458 cf at my request, to avoid any last-minute surprises. Here are the details:
Move type: Long distance (1193 miles)
Estimated volume: 458 cf
Estimated rate: $3.10 per cf
Total moving estimate: $2560
Advance payment: $1150
Stair fee waived: $0.01 (due to the apartment being on the second floor with just one flight of stairs)

2. He assured me that I would only pay for the actual space used and that any unutilized cubic feet would be deducted from the final cost. This is my first mistake as I should have asked for this line to be present in the agreement.

3. Two days later, their QA Manager, called me on a Saturday evening while I was outside and insisted on going over the list of items. Despite my request to reschedule, I was pressured into going through the list over the phone. During the call, she recalculated the volume at 566 cf and claimed that their relocation specialist had not taken any of the measurements I had sent him. She informed me that I would need to immediately pay $300 as part of the deposit to cover the increase in cubic feet and confirmed that my final payment would reflect only the space I actually used. This is my second mistake as I signed the document without checking for all the numbers and on the phone.

4. When I reviewed the new agreement later that evening, I noticed that the total estimate had increased from $2560 to $3234.97. Initially, I thought I only had to pay an additional $300, but the actual increase was $674 (3234.97 - 2560). I called their QA manager immediately, but no one answered. I also tried reaching their relocation specialist, with no response. I left messages for both of them, but received no reply. Despite this, I remained calm, as I believed my items wouldn't occupy the full 566 cf, and that my final payment would reflect the actual space used after loading.

5. On moving day, I was hit with my first surprise: the movers demanded additional payment for the stairs. It turned out that only the first flight of stairs was free, and the additional flight cost $75. They counted just seven steps as a flight. When I contacted Starline Van Lines customer service, I was directed to the dispatch manager, who told me to refer to the Moving Company documents for the number of steps calculation, as Starline was not responsible.

6. My second shock occurred after loading the truck. The driver initially said my items occupied around 398-400 cf, but after consulting with his manager, he revised the estimate to 450 cf. The company refused to reduce the cost for the unused space (566 cf reserved - 450 cf used = 116 cf) and insisted that I pay for the reserved space. The driver then called his manager and explained the situation, handing me the phone. When I answered, the first thing I heard was, "Are you gonna pay or what?" I was taken aback and tried to explain the situation, but the response was the same, "Are you gonna pay or what?". Realizing there was no point in continuing the conversation, I told him I needed to speak with Starline Van Lines and would call him back.
7. I contacted the dispatch manager again, but he denied that there was any policy about reducing the cost for unused space. He told me that if I didn’t pay the full cost for the reserved space, my items would be unloaded, and I would lose my deposit of $1450 ($1150 + $300). He stated that I should have only reserved the space I needed and would have to pay the amount specified in the agreement I signed.

In the end, I paid $3234.97 + $150 for the loading stairs + $150 for the unloading stairs, totaling $3834.97. My biggest frustration was how the Sales and QA teams misled me by assuring me I would only pay for the space I actually used.

Final points:
1. Don’t believe the false promise of "pay only for what you utilize.". This is not mentioned in the agreement. You’ll end up paying whatever is stated in the agreement, and it’s very likely to be more than you expected, but never less.
2. The number of steps that count as a "flight of stairs" is determined by the moving company not the broker (e.g., Starline Van Lines).
Here’s the breakdown for my 19 steps => $150:
1-7 = free, 8-14 = $75, 15-19 = $75
3. They only disassemble hardwood furniture, not pressed or compressed wood items like those from IKEA or other boxed furniture. This was clarified by their QA team, not the salesperson, who conveniently left this out.

"DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY"

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY - THEY STOLE $1.400.00. WE GAVE THEM A DEPOSIT. WE ENDED UP NOT EXECUTING A LEASE W/ THE LANDLORD. THE MANAGER SAID THEY WOULD REFUND THE MONEY BACK TO OUR DEBIT BUT THEY NEVER REFUNDED THE $1,400 DEPOST!! WE HAVE CALLED AND CALLED YET NO REFUND. WE FILED A COMPLAINT WITH THE ATTORNEY GENERAL'S OFFICE AND NOW WE ARE IN THE PROCES OF FILING A LAWSUIT IN PALM BEACH. FROM WHAT I CAN SEE THIS IS FRAUDELENT COMPANY OPERATING AS A MOVING SERVICE.
