"Caution potentional Malware"

After installing the Software from GamBlock on my window driven Laptop/PC my device was useless. It shuts down every 2 or 3 minutes. I was talking a long time to the suppport by mail. They were kind, but kind of useless. Even if I got help from the remote team the could not fix it. In the end they blamed me, because I didn`t want to quit my 3rd party antivirus-software. They said multiple times that they are microsoft approved, yeah, but that is not good enough for me.
In the end I decided to ignore them and their advices to safe/rescue my device. I installed the free software ubuntu and here we go. I can use the device, browse in the internet without an observation.
I asked GamBlock a few times to end my licence but they refused in order to their terms of condition. The point where I said it is over I write this review was the point, where they gave my email to an addiction counsellor without my permission. I didn`t suffer from an addiction. I wanted to protect my device from others in my family who could potentially use this device. But I was treated by an managment officer like a naughty child wo doesn`t follow parental advice.
If you need an antigambling software you better use gamban. They are not 100% safe but as a protection it is good, cheaper and way more supportive!

I do not understand the logic in creating software, that can easily be manipulated and blocked. You are not creating software for the light hearted beginning gamblers or are you? I have spend £25, and within 5 minutes, you can go to VPN and just delete. Makes no sense at all. You either create it properly or not at all. You are dealing with severe sick gamblers. They will do anything to gamble. Think there worried about losing the £25. They need someone to control them and to block all once and for all without having any Control. Terrible.

TLDR; not able to use phone at all for extended periods of time, can still download gambling apps through a little flaw, unable to restore data through iCloud, gamblock goes back on their words

After reading the reviews on here, I knew that Gamblock might be a tricky one to install and I knew that customer service would be slow so I was already prepared for that. However, tricky to install is an understatement. After the first remote “installation” with their tech guy, we were told to not use the phone at all for 12 hours to ensure enrolment, which was never told to us in the first place so I guess you could say that luckily we are in Australia and the installation happened around 10-11pm our time so we would be asleep for the 12 hours anyway. After 12 hours, we used the phone and retrieved all our data through iCloud and gamblock wasn’t even installed.

So then begins the back and forth emails I had with Gamblock regarding this and all the times we had to reset our phone and not use it so they can confirm enrolment. But then gamblock would block all apps from the App Store other than the apps that show through the “Ads” row where you can still download gambling apps from so that defeats its purpose. They tried fixing that (which they couldn’t) and gamblock disappeared from the phone.

So anyway, Gamblock eventually told me that I cannot restore through iCloud at all, that I had to transfer all the data through my Mac without iCloud. When I brought up to them why they went back on their words about being able to use iCloud to restore data, they had the audacity to tell me that I misinterpreted their words. Even after I sent them a screenshot of the bit on their website that said I can, they sent back a screenshot of the same page I sent and highlighted the bit about the strict mode which in no way explains anything about the iCloud data. And in the email correspondence we had, they literally told me to wait till they give me the go signal before we could restore our data.

My partner is now refusing to attempt to install gamblock anymore which I don’t blame him for because this entire process has been infuriating. And all they keep saying is they will hold off starting the two months licensing period until it’s installed since I already paid. But that doesn’t help anything since we can’t even install it so we’re losing out on the money that could actually go into repaying some of his debts or his meals because gamblock refuses to refund. This entire thing spanned over a month and because of its inadequacies, my partner has gambled away all of his money and dug a bigger hole in his debts and we still can’t find a solution.

Edit: I changed my review to 3 stars, because despite the issues with it, it really works well at blocking gambling. The customer service people are also very friendly, even if I was unable to solve the issue via them. Ended up figuring out on my own that for this to work, you need to install the enhanced app as well as the main one. You also need to set your setting to do extra blocking in order to use the function that allows you to use sites like Facebook. The process ended up not working well for me (a pain and slow process to access them). However....I am changing my rating because I intend to keep using Gamblock as it's the only app I have not found a way to circumvent. I can't rate it higher because they really need to redo their online instruction manual - the directions for installation and settings of the app are very confusing. They also would have more business if they put some instruction videos that show the *whole* process. There are some that show clicking on a single thing somewhere in the process. Not one showing the entire process from start to finish of how to install BOTH apps and how to set your settings up.

Original post: I just purchased this because I wanted something that couldn't be removed with a factory reset. Well, it can't, and blocks gambling. I struggled between 2 and 3 stars though, because, while doing what it needs to, it also blocks every browser except their own gamblock browser, my reddit app, my email, facebook, even the messaging app that comes with my samsung, and like 15 of my other apps, none of which have anything to do with gambling. I just want the websites blocked, not everything I even have a smartphone for.

And their own browser is not mobile friendly and I can't log into even my gmail or other things on it because gmail thinks the browser is dangerous.

Their instructions in the email for setup were confusing or possibly outdated, same with on the website, as well as for troubleshooting. I doubt I will renew after this month...which is a shame because I really love the idea of it and it works...just so well that I might as well get an old flip phone instead since my phone is nearly useless now.

Ater a update from gamblock software my pc is broken. Updates from windows dont work anymore and pc turn down without no reason. I been busy with email and try they very kind to try to resloved it but nothing works. Only taken off the gamblock mayby help so i can put a new windows on my pc but they dont that. So i can wait for 2 mounds when my licenses is over to use my pc again.

I used betblocker which overblocked, my favourite browser is opera which I couldn't even use and was easy for me to uninstall. I haven't been able to uninstall Gamlock so far .

I downloaded gamblock and couldn’t get it to install, they connected and removed some sketchy anti-virus. I’m already $500 ahead of where I would have been.

This product sounds great, you need to read the fine print though. I purchased this product with the understanding it would be easy to place onto my iPhone.

Stop right there! It’s not. You require access to a Mac computer, which I don’t have access to, the company is refusing to give a refund after months and months of frustrating email exchanges about the difficulties of this product.

Asides from purchasing the expensive product which I haven’t been able to use/install, they have requested another $1000 AUD (approx) to supply a phone with the product installed.
