Zoolz

"Time to reassess Zoolz"
Like others, I purchased a "life-time" subscription on the understanding that it could be relied on to commit the company to maintain an ongoing backup schedule with no further annual subscriptions.
Any company offering a secure backup needs to be 100% dependable - both technically and in terms of its commitment to its customers.
Zoolz has failed, and any prospective new customers should be aware that promises made today may not be honoured in a month's time.
Zoolz's responses to date have been simply a boilerplate posting which fails to acknowledge the need for the company to reassess their decision.
NOTE: Despite Zoolz's claims, this review is NOT based on a fake account, I have submitted details of my purchase invoice from June 2017.
Zoolz website claims company values as including: "Caring, Integrity, Committed ..."
Rather a sick joke in the light of their recent change in their understanding of a "Lifetime" contract - time to change it to "Uncaring, no integrity and no commitment to customers"

"Charge of monthly fee on lifetime subscription"
Same as many others, my lifetime accounts are to be charged a monthly fee. Lack of integrity. If the company cannot afford to have so many lifetime accounts then refund us and you can sell those storage to other customers that are willing to pay a monthly subscription fee.

"No life time service after all.."
I purchased the life time service, one time fee, that was promoted some time ago by this company.
The company had no issue taking my money but now wants to limit the service - or have me pay more money.
This is simply running from the deal you made!
I could just pay the extra charges but this is a backup service. I need to trust the company that handles it so I am out!

"This is not good"
This is not good, great now I have to get all of data off. Where I paid for lifetime member yet you have to pay more to keep it going. It was working well, ah well. You should have changed all of your lifetime members for free or not offered more and more lifetime member if you can't handle it.. How can you be trusted? Also $13/y for a company is not alot to take up, its not our fault if you taken too many LIFETIME premium account on is it!

"bait and switch lifetime offer!"
I too got a lifetime subscription and was told the same thing everyone else is saying! it's a bait and switch without an offer to refund! stay away!
edit#1 to zoolz reply: The only "user experience lagging" is your company canceling my plan because you don't want to honor what you originally sold! and by feeling "short changed" you mean your bait and switch you sold!
edit #2 zoolz is trying to smooth over the issue by saying the same thing in email but just in a little less harsh way. Essentially your lifetime purchase is useless! also remember people, they have your personal information stored on their servers. That is the company you are trusting it to!

"[Edited: back to lifetime] "Lifetime" very short !"
Crazy! I paid for a lifetime 1TB offer and I received an email yesterday asking me around 20 USD per year to keep running the service. So those guys take your money, increase the number of customers, claim everywhere that soooo many customers trust them because of the quality of their service, and then scorn on these customers. Avoid those people, this is unacceptable.
Keep something in mind: they will tell you that they have the right to do so, because you have accepted the terms of use that nobody read. Ok. But with such behaveor, total lack of ethics, would you give and entrust them your personal data? If they have no pb to reconsider the terms both parties agreed, why should they respect your privacy and not starting selling your photos? Videos? Think about it.
EDIT: to be fully transparent, following my review, Zoolz contacted me asking for more information. Maybe to check if I'm a real customer or if I wrote a fake review to harm the company. Which is fair and of course, I have responded to their inquiry. So they have identified me with no doubt, they were supposed to check what can be done, but despite I replied on the spot, they completely disappeared. No news, no reply, nothing. I'll update you guys in case they come back to me.
EDIT #2: email received confirming me that finally, I keep my lifetime plan. I hope it's the same for all customers and not only those like me who complained on the Internet. But I have to admit that if it's clear that trying to force us to upgrade was a mistake, the fact that they are able to admit it and take the necessary measures to correct that mistake, they have my trust back so I put 5 stars as now the service is fully working as agreed from day 1 so no reason any longer to put 1 star.
That is my honest review updated twice.

"Avoid this company at all costs"
Avoid this company, scam!
They sold me a lifetime subscription less than a year ago only to change their model and forcing me to pay a monthly fee to be able to continue using a service I already paid for. This company is a scam, no honor with their deals. Lifetime means lifetime (of the company), scamming costumers to pay more is not a honorable way of doing business.
They will claim it's still cheaper than most services, but I don't frickin care. I already have a pCloud litetime subscription, where service is way better and they are honoring the deal, so zoolz can shove their "cheaper than most" argument where the sun doesn't shine cause I don't need their paid mediocre service. They throttle speeds for lifetime subscriptions, cut maintenance and move files around without a warning, and now force customers to pay or lose the already paid service all together. Zoolz is shady business all around, and I bet it won't stop here. I'm interested in a class action lawsuit, I'm sure the company would lose.
UPDATE: as predicted they answered with the template message. I'm not sure what they pretend with all the same messages they're sending to 1 star reviews, but it's only infuriating their customers even more. They also deleted my facebook comment and blocked me from commenting on their facebook page for telling the thruth. Good practices all around...

"Bait and Switch - STAY AWAY"
Like many, I bought a life time subscription... and have now been told that I will be required to buy an ongoing subscription, thus making the lifetime subscription pointless.
They don't even have the guts to acknowledge they are screwing people over - no offer of a refund, and their emails and responses to other reviews are full of marketing doublespeak. Sure, Zoolz is still cheaper than the other options - but at least the others are upfront about their pricing. If Zoolz will screw people over once, they'll do it again.

"So much for a lifetime of service! Stay away!"
So much for a lifetime of service. Where is the refund for my not Lifetime service agreement (actually one year?) Better yet, I hope that they ticked off a lawyer who is ready to file a class action law suit against them. I don't remember signing any agreement that stated a lifetime service agreement was only as long as they decide to uphold their end of the bargain. The service stunk to begin with and rarely worked. If they think people are actually going to pay more for this awful service, then let them. Just provide us with refunds for those of us that don't want to continue service. I did not get my lifetime service agreement fulfilled.

"Vote with your feet"
I'm another (increasingly misnamed) lifetime account holder. I too am extremely disappointed with Zoolz complete lack of business ethics. To start charging any fees for an account which was clearly purchased with a lifetime subscription, opens the door for them to break any and all pricing, service and delivery commitments.
Vote with your feet, people!
UPDATE: Zoolz response to my original post ignores the elephant in the room: the complete disregard for their original agreement with thousands of their customers, proving a complete lack of integrity.
I was happy with the level of service and the "user experience" which I had...a simple and reliable cloud backup and storage solution for my domestic use. I didn't need or want the new bells and whistles. If this decision had been treated with honesty and integrity, Zoolz would have allowed existing customers the CHOICE of upgrading, or remaining with their chosen solution.
They may currently be one of the most economical of the cloud platform providers, but their recent history shows they'll go in with a with an attractive offer, then gouge you once you're committed.
