"Zoolz Management: Change of Mind"

ORIGINAL REVIEW
Stay away at all cost, it is a rip-off!

As many other have already explained before, you are suddenly charged with a monthly fee, even if you already paid upfront for lifetime. If you don't pay, all your data will be gone!

Best thing about it is their 'explanation': "As with all things in life - change is inevitable". I hope this company goes out of business sooner than later...

UPDATE:
I raised my review from 1 to 3 stars after having received the written confirmation that Zoolz management has changed its mind, so maybe they deserve a second chance:

"We heard you
Zoolz has been in business for over 15 years, which makes us - we like to think - pretty good at what we do. But, that’s not to say we always get it right. Our recent email sent to our lifetime users in which we address changes to our pricing and how this will affect your account was ill-planned.
We are the first to admit we should not have used this approach and we would like to take this opportunity to tell you that you will not lose access to any of your data or your account. Irrespective of whether you subscribe to the premium upgrade or not, your lifetime plan will remain completely accessible and your amount of purchased storage will never decrease."

"False Pricing & Untrustworthy - Be Smart Stay Away"

False Pricing & Untrustworthy. You have been warned.

After buying 'Lifetime' zoolz in 2019 from StackSocial.com I get an email on Jan 2020 that my 'Lifetime' is no longer for 'Life' and is billable monthly if I want to keep it. False Pricing & Untrustworthy. See email received below:

We, Will, be Increasing Our Prices as of 1st February
As with all things in life - change is inevitable. Due to the high demand for premium services, we are no longer offering basic plans to any of our Zoolz account holders, and as such we will be slightly increasing our prices.

Our commitment to you
For our lifetime account holders, we will be asking you to pay a very nominal fee of only $1.50 per month.

Users will be able to retrieve their data until the new pricing plan is activated on February 1st. Users can subscribe to the new plan at any point, or retrieve their data and store it elsewhere. We are still fighting aggressively to minimize costs for our users.

"This is the end."

$1.5 a month for the paid once lifetime subscription? I am afraid they'll demand $150 in a month or two.

The patient is incurable. RIP.

"Our commitment to you.. $1.50 per month from you?"

I am one of the many 'lifetime account' holders and although I did received the maintenance ending notice a while back I didn't read too much in to it because I don't required maintenance and never have. But today I received a notice that as of Feb 1,"for our lifetime account holders we will be asking you to pay a very nominal fee of only $1.50 per month". I'm sorry, you should not be offering a 'lifetime account' if it isn't Pay once and own that amount of data for as long as YOUR COMPANY STAYS IN BUSINESS. If and when your company does start to run in to financial troubles, you should not be first removing your lifetime members. Sure, I get it, we paid a one time fee but that fee we paid is a fee you decided upon and go an influx of money at that time. If that money has been squandered away and you need to start cutting the corners off your cereal box to stay in business, that will most certainly not work!

I utilized this in good faith and use it as a cold storage mostly, knowing that I have this space tucked away for my own IT Business.

If you are not going to honor this and now want those lifetime members to start paying a monthly fee (I don't care if it is only 1.50 per month as that still works out to $14.40 per year which would buy me my own storage devices that would't be asking for more money once I have purchased it).

If this is the sign that Zoolz is on its way to being out of existence then so be it-state that in your email.

I emailed them back that since this is an illegal practice I demand to stay on my current plan or get a refund for the lifetime subscription I paid them.
Otherwise, they will hear back from my lawyer.

"NEVER BUY A LIFETIME SERVICE from ZOOLZ"

Zoolz sells lifetime cloud archive, than some time later they ask for a monthly fee because they are very good in business...

They've lured users into advertising a lifetime service, and now they cancel their account and want a monthly fee. Seems like a scam to me.

NEVER BUY A LIFETIME SERVICE from ZOOLZ

"Seems like a good service but....."

Seems like a good service. You sync files, feel protected, go to work and have a nice day. Until....

Until you need those backups restored, don't mind the 12 hr wait. I knew that during sign up. This issue is the 11.4 KB/s download speed. Now I only wanted to restore 50MB but that would take 1hr 16 mins approx.at those speed. Try restoring 500GB (1 year 5 months 29 days 1 hour 38 minutes 59 seconds). Perhaps my connection is strong enough (110Mbps download) but others have mentioned similar download speed issues.

So for that reason it's not fit for purpose. Sorry - good idea though.

EDIT since above. Restoring via the Web interface / email download link is slow. Using the desktop application i'm seeing about 50 Mbps (better) but it's still taken 24hrs to get 35GB. So it would be a long 28 days if you need 1TB

EDIT (AGAIN) - Trying to restore some more data, now the windows application just hangs and nothing happens for over 12 hrs. Useless as i cannot get my data (4th attempt today, not looking likely).
