"Fantastic tricycle"

Having thought about it for a few months I took the plunge and bought a tricycle in September due to being a keen cyclist but having sustained an injury to both legs which meant pushing off on a normal bike was not possible for quite a while. Cyclists who are used to 2 wheels do not be put off - at the start it seems like you are going to tip over which is a very odd sensation, but it is very stable and I got the hang of it after about a week. The tricycle is great, it changed my life as I couldn't walk very far or drive but now I can do the school run/cycle and also cycle to my local shops and pool! It is very sturdy and looks great. I love the comfy saddle, big tires and very useful cargo basket at the back which holds so much. It is quite heavy so I cannot get it into a car by but am quite happy cycling around my local area. The staff at Jorvik have been great at answering queries and were very quick to help when I had a problem with the mudguards not fitting (sent me a replacement set within 24 hours). Having been immobile for many months I found anything above setting 2 very fast but the staff helped me to set up the speeds so that there are twice as many intervals of speed so it ramps up more slowly so again, great helpful after sales service! I have got alot of compliments and am so happy to be back on the road!

"My advice. Never buy before you try"

Clearly a decently made trike. Unfortunately I was not circumspect enough to realise it might not suit me. With restricted knee bend I was too high in the saddle, (plus other disabilities), and even peddle adjusters were not going to fix that. After 12 miles of high anxiety riding I had to give up. Regrettably Jorvik would not agree a return because in their words it was not in a "resalable condition" (due to mileage covered). So I am stuck with it and trying to sell it at a huge loss. I would have hoped for better after sales service.
Additional. As I think a reflection of what was for me not the sort of customer service I would have expected, Jorvik just fall back on the, in my view, flimsy excuse that as I had ridden more than 5 miles, (which I was told on the phone), the trike was no longer resellable even without discussing with me the actual ovwerall condition of the trike. So not at all helpful to me and just saying 'sorry' does not improve my experience.

"250 happy miles so far on my E-Elite"

I visited the JORVIK showroom to try the trikes in February 2022. Staff helpful and accompanied me on gentle circuits of their Car Park to try the controls. I bought a 20” wheel E-Elite which they delivered to my home in Somerset in about ten days. Part assembled already but instructions were clear to understand to complete the job. It took me almost 100 miles of local road riding to gain confidence as the technique needed takes time to adjust from a lifetime of previous cycling. I’ve now done 250 miles and confidently whizz up to the village shops saving both time and motoring expenses. The rear pannier carries shopping comfortably and even once transported a heavy bag of compost! I recharge the battery about every three weeks (40 miles or so) and got a local cycle mechanic to give it a one year service - no problems found just the entirely normal cable stretching with use.
My advice to new users is take the corners quite slowly and just enjoy speed on straight roads and paths. Be aware of the road surface in front of you so you are prepared for the occasional tricky cambers found after road work reinstatements.

"A new experience"

Having just given up motor cycling for a more leisurely ride and for exercising these arthritic legs, I bought the basic folding model. It is a most unusual experience first time out on cambered roads keeping the steering central, and the rocking twisting motion when one wheel hits a dip or bump. The electrical assistance is really good and after a great deal of trial and error, I can now get it into the back of my Citroen Picasso C3 and look forward to getting out to more suitable places. Getting it in the car involves removing the seat with the seat-post and the battery, then folding the bars down and lowering the stem as far as possible then lifting it in backwards before folding the front section sideways to get the trike just inside. Happy days ahead. Has Jorvic considered independent suspension at the rear?

"Love"

Love, love, love my new electric trike!
I have an immune disability plus various other medical conditions- one of which affects my balance sometimes
I took months of reading and reviewing types of exercise that would suit me, my neurologist needed me to try & exercise.
So finally took the plunge on an electric trike.
Have to highly recommend Jorvik - their customer care is excellent and were always available prior and after purchase.
I would say the only thing needed (for me personally) was getting an expert to build the 10% part - his opinion was that it was more than 10% needed and took him just under 2 hours to complete but he did also give it a full health check and was very impressed with trike himself.
I’m really happy with my choice and cannot recommend highly enough :)

"I recommend Jorvik Tricycles to everyone."

I cannot speak highly enough of Jorvik Tricycles, I recommend them to everyone. I'm so happy with my tricycle, it's a real quality piece of kit that gives me freedom I could only dream about before. The staff are really knowledgeable and helpful, I felt so taken care of. Being disabled it's so refreshing to find a company that cares, I think that's because of the heart that went into building Jorvik Tricycles, so that a son could help his Dad. I'm so grateful to James, when I was a child in a wheelchair I would dream about being able to ride a bike, now I can, thanks to Jorvik Tricycles.

"Yorvik The Great"

We had a 1-hour appointment with James Walker to view and test electric trikes. James was very helpful and explained everything clearly. We bought a trike, our first one.
I can recommend Jorvik, based on my experience. A good company that gives personal service. That's welcome these days.
Well done, Jorvik

"Relating to Order #000008142"

Relating to Order #000008142
The trike is excellent and the concept is good. Overall, the quality of the trike is reasonable and it's been fantastic to be mobile again following a loss of driving licence due to a medical issue which also affects my balance. It's a real 'mode of transport' and has helped me regain my independence.
I purchased the JMT3 which is advertised as "The essential mountain trike. Trail-proven electric power designed for all-day, all-terrain riding. The ultimate expression of freedom."
However, less than 200 miles in, it developed a bearing issue.
Jorvik's immediate attitude was aggressive. They stated that "Bearings are excluded from their warranty".
I noted that I wasn't claiming under warranty as I was covered under Part 1 Chapter 2 of the Consumer Rights Act 2015 which states that:
"Goods must be fit for purpose, as described and last a reasonable length of time".

The customer service team stated that "Bearings are not covered, as you probably rode over a bump, which could result in the bearings being mis-aligned". This statement contradicts their claim on the website of "ride anywhere, all terrain".

Their only stated resolution after multiple e-mails, was to collect the trike from us, inspect (in the presence of a Trading Standards officer!), and IF they deemed it to be a bearings fault (and not wear and tear), they would cover the cost of collection and repair. But, IF they found it NOT to be a bearings fault and it was 'wear and tear' (and they were very vague about what grounds they might reject my claim), I would be responsible for the cost of collection, repair and return at over £500. They would not return the trike until I had paid, so effectively I would have been held to ransom. I was not prepared to take that risk. I also didn't see why Trading Standards needed to be involved as my complaint was simple and easily resolved.

After many e-mails (over 40!) back and forth trying to establish what bearings were fitted in the trike and to get Jorvik to see common sense, I eventually sent them notice that I would send the trike to my local bike shop for assessment and repair and that I would then send the invoice to Jorvik. Jorvik supplied me a set of bearings.
However, the bearings they sent were incorrectly sized, so after more communications, they sent the correct bearings. These were fitted successfully and replaced the original bearings which had been fitted dry (with no lubrication).
The total cost to me, from my super local shop was £70. Once I had sent the invoice to Jorvik, with the technicians report to confirm the bearings were fitted dry and were therefore faulty, Jorvik did re-imburse me.
However, the whole episode left a very bad taste. Emma was particularly aggressive, over talked me and failed to reply to specific points in my e-mails. I found her hard to communicate with and her suggested resolution, if they had identified the issue in my favour, would have cost them over £500.
Why not just say "Take it to your local shop, get a quote and we'll go from there?"
I also cc'd in the CEO, James, in all communications and I was troubled that at no point, did he ever reach out to smooth the waters, assist or reassure me.

So, in summary, the trike is great. The customer service is aggressive and accusatory. Watch out for the bearings and don't accept a rejection of a faulty claim, especially if they state it's not covered under warranty. You are still covered under the Consumer Rights Act.

Update in response to Jorvik's reply below:

You cannot conveniently 'exclude' something from being covered by the Consumer Rights Act by stating 'it's not covered by our warranty'.
If the trike is sold as 'go anywhere' then it must be fit to do so. This will include parts and components.
If you state that the trike is fit for off road purposes, then the components fitted, must be up to the job.

"Problem solved"

I had problems with the zip on the rear bag of my Jorvik trike. Instead of the advice I asked for, I received a brand new bag, free of charge - even though I have had the machine for a couple of years now. It is obvious from other reviews that Jorvik provides a superlative after-sales service - which I too can now confirm. I bless the day my beautiful machine arrived from Jorvik: now, at nearly 90, I go where primroses grow along the greenway in Spring - to enjoy tea, cake and company at one of those cafes known to all proper cyclists. Thank you, Jorvik. Long may you prosper!
