Like all the other reviews on here, absolutely dreadful experience. The customer service standard is horrible. The company don’t care because it’s a franchise so it doesn’t affect them. I know it’s not always possible to avoid using a particular estate agent if you want to buy the house they are selling, but I’d go to the ends of the Earth to avoid Northwood.

Awful company. Rented from Northwood Milton Keynes. They're slow to respond, no care for tenants and had the audacity to attempt to take deposit money by accusing us of a leak that was reported and not repaired for over 6 weeks! Rude, ignorant and unprofessional.

"Sharing my details to a third party when I no longer even use Northwood!"
Not only did I have a terrible experience when I rented from Northwood in 2016-17 (we were forced out of our property due to dangerous black mould that affected my partner who has a serious lung condition yet they had NO empathy and instead charged us an extra month's rent and supported the landlord as he painted over said mould to continue renting the flat - shocking) but 3 years on I am now being contacted by a third party because Northwood have shared my details with them incorrectly saying that I have "recently moved". I haven't lived in a Northwood property for 3 years and my details are being willingly shared to third party companies. Not happy at all! This is a breach of GDPR if you ask me!

I sold my flat in Chapel Allerton, Leeds, through Northwood. From start to finish, they were highly professional. Their sales representative, Matthew, was very skilled with the valuation and viewing processes and ensured CoVID guidelines were followed. A buyer offering 100% of the asking price was found and Tyler then took over the customer liaison function - another very professional member of staff with strong inter-personal skills. Enquiries were answered promptly and accurately, smoothing over what is inevitably a stressful period.

For David and Jess at Northwood oldham
1. Jess and David please refer to your company training guidelines and ensure you have completed all training. You have 0 people skills.
2.Ensure you are honest with your tenants as oppose to selling a bag of white lies.
3. Try answering a phone call or even responding to an email sooner than 6 months.
4. Read over the tenancy agreement yourself instead of giving false information.
5. Don't be quick to take peoples hard earned money only to dissappear when it comes to returning the holding deposit
6. Train staff to deal with tenant queries correctly rather than giving them mixed messages
7.Don't only start to reply to emails and phone calls once a tenant goes down the complaint route.
8. When a tenant is frustrated because you haven't fixed a problem that's now 6month old LISTEN and don't speak over them.
10. Dont make false promises keep your word
11. David instead of talking down at people over the phone use mannerisms
12. Jess maybe learn about about the property you will be showing to potential tenants instead of not knowing a thing about the house.
The list could go on!!!!!!!!

This is by far the worst service I have ever received! if you want to experience something as low as this then give them a ring! (if they pick up that is) Every time I had called them most of the time I never use to get through and when I did I use to explain why I am calling and the person on the other end says ‘I will get the team to call you back’ which I NEVER got whilst living in the rented property for the duration of 6 months. I have also sent out numerous emails which have also been ignored to!
I have been dealing with two people from Northwood Oldham. The first is the person who signed me up. A lady called Jess who I now realised is very useless and selfish. She was very quick to reply when we were moving in, trying to send me all the documents to sign off, however any issues we had raised with her were never looked at, she just ignored us and gave us false hope that she will be sorting them out but never did!. I’m sure if she was in my situation, she would feel the same way. Why can’t people just be honest in the first place?
Upon viewing the property there was a crack on the window. Jess mentioned to us that this will get fixed prior to us moving in (we have confirmation of this via email) 1 week later, 2 weeks later, 3 weeks later, numerous calls in between, no sign of her. Every time we call all they tell us is that ‘you will get a call back’.
All they think about is getting someone in the property and they don’t care for anything else. They have no customer experience, you the customer are not the priority, there role is to deal with customers, and they will not deal with you appropriately. They just want to tie you in to a contract, once they got you in the property they don’t care. I am the type of person to never complain but this is just next level. I have wasted so much of my time calling them up and dealing with quires that they themselves should have resolved for me not me chasing up countless times. Especially if they agreed to resolve them!
I have also been dealing with a clown called David, I say clown because I believe he does not know what he is doing and has no knowledge of what customer service is. Every time I had spoken to him, he is very rude on the phone; he has zero people skills. I am unsure how he got the job there as he is not fit for the job. I made it very clear that he shouldn’t be speaking with people like that and I won’t settle for it and then he toned himself down. The lack of professionalism is shocking!
He kept referring me to the tenancy agreement for any issues I had, however upon checking the tenancy agreement nothing was mentioned on there that I needed help with. Just because he didn’t know the answer, he kept pointing me in the wrong direction because he didn’t want sort my issue out, then later ignored me. Why have a customer focused role when you a poor at it? Does the organisation not provide training?
One issue I had was paying my rent (which I paid on time and always in full). I didn’t know how to pay my rent (I have never rented before). I assumed it would be taken via direct debit for the duration of the rental period as I have already given them my bank details. Upon calling Northwood David kept advising me ‘all details are on the tenancy agreement’ to Hell! Nothing is there regarding payments. I went through the agreement numerous times while I was on hold for ages upon calling them back. But I was told eventually that I need to transfer the money with the bank details they initially provided when I sent them a deposit. This is the level of service I am talking about. Why did I have to ring twice? When you already know the answer instead of referring me to the tenancy agreement which didn’t contain the process to pay the rent in the first place? Makes me wonder has he ever seen a tenancy agreement before, or does he even know what one is?
Please avoid getting a property through them, it will be your worst nightmare! Even the landlord himself mentioned to me that he is stuck in a contract with them and he knows that the service they offer is ‘crap’
I hope in the future I never have to deal with them again!
