"A Positive Experience"
Explorica has been very easy to work with. My tour consultant has been such a help at every step of the process. My trip was well organized and stress free.

"Simply the Best!"
If you go with Explorica you will not be disappointed. They have great tours with excellent guides. Your accommodations will be wonderful and your experience will be unforgettable! The focus is on the student and their experience. Having traveled with other companies, this is by far the best! Best in terms of value, service, and experience for the student! I have been with Explorica for four trips and I will be staying with Explorica!

"Bringing the classroom to life"
Bringing the classroom to life, that is what travel is about! This trip to Costa Rica surely did that! This trip involved “science class, Spanish class and even math class by converting colones to dollars, meters to miles and Celsius to Fahrenheit. It immersed us a new culture and opened our eyes to a new and incredible world. The power of travel to change and grow a person is incomparable to anything

"You cannot leave minors in a foreign country and not tell them when they can come home. That is messed up."
I am a high school student on a school trip and a group of us got covid by the end of this trip (myself included). I would like to make it clear that I am not blaming Explorica for me getting covid, I am however disgusted with how they handled the situation.
1. My group was traveling with another group on a bus together and one of the members of the other group had symptoms of covid within the first days of our trip but they were never tested. As we were traveling in a level 4 (high risk for covid) country, Explorica should have provided covid testing as soon as these symptoms were reported. No testing was done until 7 days AFTER symptoms when they were testing to fly home and they tested positive.
2. I felt symptoms 3 days prior and no one got me tested.
3. After myself and 4 other students tested positive we were not told how long the quarantine would be and when we would be able to go home until 2 days later. Honestly that was probably the worst part, that I genuinely had no idea when I would be able to come home.
4. After 2 days, we were finally informed that we would have to quarantine for 7 days since our positive test that last Sunday. While the other groups quarantine was 7 days since their symptoms started. If we were allowed to start counting our quarantine since symptoms we would have been able to go home a lot sooner. My group and I understand there are quarantine measures in place to protect others against the spread of covid but we found it appalling that the quarantine measures were easily changed between the two groups.
5. Explorica has a policy in place stating that if a student gets covid, they will keep that child's parents informed on their quarantine status. However, Explorica did not contact mine or any one else's parents regarding my quarantine or informing them that I had covid at all.
6. Lastly, all my group wants to do is get home at this point and we put in multiple requests for a 3:15 am flight as well as a 6:15 am flight. There were many seats open on both of these flights when my teacher called, but Explorica neglected to call her back for a whole day and we do not have the early flights. So, we will be getting home nearly on monday morning rather than Sunday afternoon.
Honestly the week that was planned was pretty good, but I would not trust Explorica to handle anything unexpected.

"Explorica does not follow its own policys and is very incosiderate of their travelers"
The trip its self was fine. It felt a bit disjointed but I believe that is just one of the negatives of traveling with a large group. I am a current student who has just finished one of their tours in Costa Rica. At the end of the trip our whole group had to be tested for covid due to U.S. law. around half the group tested positive. (As a side note they neglected to test a women in our group who had covid like symptoms on the second day of our trip which would have saved many of us form this disaster) Of course this was hard to deal with since it was a school trip and we were all without our parents. Day one we were completely in the dark about what would be happening as far as quarantine. Late that night we were informed we would be moving to another hotel unsure about how long we would be there. After 2 days of quarantine and lots of miss information flouting around we finally got a definitive answer to what was going to happen to us. Which is that we had to spend a week quarantined, and a doctor had to visit us. (which was pretty clearly part of Costa Rican policy) Once all the doctors paperwork was in and Explorica could book our flights, they neglected to call our teacher back for a whole day, despite her many calls. When they got back to us about the flights there plan was for us take 4 hour bus ride to an airport (even though we are in San Jose) and we would not be getting home until almost midnight. They made this plan after not booking us on a 3 am flight which would have gotten us home much earlier and was out of San Jose. there reasoning was they did not want to pay for first class seats (which was needed to fit all of us). Even though they bought first class tickets for some people in our group who were flying out earlier. To top all this off I just found out today that Explorica has a policy to contact parents about the quarantine status of their children, my parents and my whole groups parents were never contacted they only got information from my teacher who stayed with us. Me and my group were obviously upset but understand that we need to follow quarantine guide lines to keep everyone safe, but it is ridiculous how little Explorica seemed to follow there own protocol, and how they left 5 minors in a foreign country giving little information to them or their parents. Covid was not the only thing that went wrong with this tour, our guide was late to a couple activity's and the times of our meals were sporadic, but generally a good tour. If anything unexpected happens I would not rely on Explorica handling it with any sort of responsibility.

"Great trip"
A few bumps in the road, but things worked out. A great tour guide makes the trip and we had one.

"This was one of my best trips with…"
This was one of my best trips with Explorica. With all of the COVID guidelines, Explorica made it so much easier to navigate through countries and the ferry we took. With a team like Explorica behind you when you travel, how can you go wrong?! Thanks Explorica!

"Despite COVID-19 the trip was amazing"
Despite COVID-19 the trip was amazing. This is my 6th student based travel experience. Other than a little bit of testing during the trip it was just like every other trip I went on. It was a little too fast paced as it would have been nicer to get more time to see things and shop but it was well worth it. Our guide, Claudia, was top notch and we truly got to see and taste the authentic parts of the countries we visited. I have trips lined up with Explorica through 2026 so far and love the experience they provide. I have traveled with other rival companies and with adult geared tours and Explorica provides the best bang for your buck.
