Everything went smoothly and our hotel accommodations were very nice. It was a trip of a lifetime. Jacque Stokes-Taylor, our tour director, handled everything and made the trip perfect.

"The actual activities were good"

The actual activities were good. The tour guide Bob was not. He was obnoxious and at times slightly inappropriate with vague misogynistic comments and seemed very unorganized with meals, down time, etc. There wasn't a ton of thought process going on. The original bus driver was a disaster, the second one being much better. The meal choices lacked any semblance of organization, like the burger joint didn't even have enough places for all of our kids to sit because they didn't block anything off, the deli was not good and the Mexican in Boston was meh. Also, giving 30 high school kids 15 minutes in Times Square on a Friday night to go wherever is NOT a good idea... luckily we had great kids but that could have been disastrous. I have taken many tours with another company and they were much better, so I have lots of experience to judge with.

Oh wow, I just got done yelling at the lady on the phone about my refund. I asked her what the largest amount of money they have stolen...I knew people would lose thousands. This has got to be stopped, this is a crooked operation they are running. The school systems that brought in this group need to be held accountable. We were preyed on...

"Refuses to refund even though we bought insurance"

The dates were changed twice due to covid. My kids cannot travel on the new dates. It took at least 10 emails and claims to get money refunded in bits and pieces. Explorica refuses to refund the final $440 even though I bought the insurance for 100% coverage. I would NEVER recommend this company. I know covid has been hard on the travel business but it was a real stretch for us to even consider this trip and now they are keeping money we need.

A one is the least stars I can give you so that is why I am giving you that but it would be 0 if I could give you that. My daughter's trip for 2020 was moved to 2021 and that was fine but then you moved it again to 2022 and she can't go on that date. The refund process takes months and it's really bad. They "have" to refund to the card you paid it with but they somehow used my daughters name so my bank rejected it so add a few more weeks onto the process to get a check. Then they want to charge me a cancellation fee but I never agreed to the 2022 dates. It's not for me to fund your business so if you can't give me the date I agreed to then refund ALL of my money. And if you try to get a manager you will NEVER get a call back. You are committing fraud!

I was due to go on a school trip April 2020 that we booked with Explorica. Our trip was cancelled in March due to Covid and despite purchasing insurance, waited almost 16 months for a refund that was 350$ short of what I paid for the trip (More than one of the payments). DO NOT RECOMMEND!

My sons’ (twins so double the cost) international trip with Explorica was postponed from June 2021 until June 2022 due to the pandemic. We chose to cancel. After having purchased their infamous “cancel for any reason insurance” I am still waiting for my refunds 3 months LATER! I will not receive the insurance premiums back & they were useless. They debited me on the 1st of the Month for 2 1/2 YEARS then basically cancel the trip on ME & I have to wait 12 weeks for my refund. I have read their extensive paperwork cover to cover and this is stated NOWHERE. Do not use Explorica for your trip OR Tripmate for your travel insurance.
