We booked a trip through our local school
Covid hit, we paid for the travel insurance , trip was cancelled twice. After numerous phone calls an emails we were told we did not take out the correct insurance to protect us from cancellation. Explorica was out absolutely nothing during this time period, We cancelled our trip due to US guidelines to re-enter the US. They charged us $1300 per person cancellation fee and told us travel insurance would not kick in cover any of these fees.
I understand it was a bad time for travel companies but other businesses had hard times as well and probably handled things more professionally

DO NOT USE EXPLORICA... They will keep your money even if the trip is canceled due to a global pandemic. They do not communicate well and will not tell you what payments are for what. we asked about our trip insurance and they forgot we even payed it.

My son (grade 11) was supposed to go on a trip to Europe last year in April. The trip was canceled due to COVID and we still did not get any refund. We cannot even get refunded for the flight - Air Canada needs to deal with Explorica and Explorica seems to be doing nothing. Do NOT book with them. You are wasting your money.

I payed over 3k for a trip for my daughter in 2020. It was postponed due to covid. In March of 2021 I got an email stating it would be on for this June to pay in full or be fined. I paid the last 500. In April I received an email stating the trip is canceled. I purchased insurance. They have not sent my refund and want to keep $399 due to "deposits ". This is fraud. I didn't cancel. They did. Im owed all my payment. They refuse. Im contacting an attorney.

"Bad customer service."
I had a trip planed in 2020 that got pushed back to 2021 and then was cancelled. I have been on hold for 30 minuets and I called right when they opened. I am trying to reach them in order to understand how my refund will be given to me. I tried calling last week and was on hold so long I just left a message and they said they would call back in one business day. Never got a call back. I am planning on staying on hold all day today If I have to. I will let you guys know how long that takes. Would give 0 stars if I could.

"DO NOT BOOK HERE"
They cancelled my trip which was supposed to be happening April 3rd 2021, and moved it to June 2022. They cancelled my trip, and made a new one. That is not rescheduling. And when I called to cancel They said that they have to charge me a 400 dollar retention fee! For what! I am canceling with over 15 months notice. Explorica is just trying to scam people out of their money. And if you read the travel protections plan, it says that they don't have to provide what they promised you. That if they don't you aren't entitled to your money back. Do not schedule a trip with them unless you want to waste 2000 dollars. They are a thriving, lying company. And furthermore, when I called costumer service the first women was incredibly rude to me and refused to answer any questions, instead just repeating that there is a retention fee that has to be charged with every cancelation. When I called back 20 minutes later after I had calmed down a bit, I asked for a supervisor, and the man was not helping me at all so I asked for his supervisor and he told me the " they weren't allowed to talk on the phone" his supervisor, the person in charge, wasn't allowed to talk to customers. That is complete and utter bull.

"Dishonesty is Bad Business!"
I would leave not even 1 rating. I'm very hurt & disappointed with the company. We scheduled a trip June 2020. Understandably it was postponed until this year. Now, they have done it again. Wanting to wait until next year. I was told my group of 8 was too small to do a private tour. They intended on consolidating other groups with ours. Anyway, they are saying it is only postponed. It seems like they don't realize that they have cancelled the trip this year. They avoid using the word cancelled because they do not want to refund any
Then they are saying people will lose a few hundred dollars if they cancel even with insurance. So, I do not want others to have to deal with this as we are. Honestly means so much to me. But this is a warning that some are not honest & their word means nothing. We are very hurt by Explorica 's actions. Never again, Explorica!!!

In total we spent $3888.80 for her to go.
Her trip was canceled by her school board due to COVID. We were told in the beginning that if her trip was canceled through no fault of our own (the school canceling, world wide pandemic), we would be reimbursed minus the insurance expense (180.00). In total Explorica kept and refuses to refund from just us $1378.80!
I have discovered a facebook group with over 2000 other families who are in the same boat, some not even getting a penny back!!!
We trusted the credibility of this company as it was a school run experience. Please don't do the same!!
My daughter is an exceptional young lady who also poured her hard earned money into this experience. Such a shame that this company has taken advantage of so many people.

"Due to Covid19"
Due to Covid19, the school cancel the trip to Japan for my daughter this June 2021. We wanted the refund of the money that we paid for and they charge us $599 for cancellation fee. This is not our fault for the trip that got cancel this year. This is a rip off. I would not recommend this company to anyone. Totally disappoint with this company.
