Unfortunately Truetraveller outsource part of their customer service team abroad.
I broke my leg in Canada and needed a flight back to London with business class as per my fit to fly certificate by my surgeon as my leg needed to be elevated for the 9.5 hour flight.
Initially, the whole flight was rejected in a short, badly written email stating I could still work abroad! I then had to get the claim resubmitted to explain I had a broken leg and could not in fact work.
The 2nd claim then ended up in Truetraveller trying to book me an economy class seat completely ignoring my flight certificate stating I needed Business class to elevate my leg.
I then submitted a 3rd claim which highlighted my flight certificate requirement and that I medically needed to fly with my leg elevated. The team finally agreed to fly me home business.
This all took a week after me being out of hospital and living in a house with 0 help and many stairs into and around the property including up to the kitchen.
I would email and call 3x a day to get an answer of when my flight would be. 7 days it took from leaving hospital to getting a flight booked, this should have been arranged within a couple of days.

"Making a claim"
The process for making a claim was not obvious for me at first and so I called the number. The lady on the phone said she will sent me an email with the explanation/steps to do, after I gave her all my information. I had to call her again to finally get the email. I sent another email to the support team and finally I found the link to the form, which need to be filled out to make a claim. All in all the service is good and fast. And I got a full reimbursement.

I had to have knee surgery in Canada and True Traveller were extremely easy to deal with at any time of day and have been very helpful in dealing will all aspects of the claim. I would highly recommend them to friends and will not hesitate to book with them again for future trips

Let's be honest here.... No one likes having to get travel insurance, as we all know, when it comes to making a claim.... working out how to make the claim and making the claim is going to be a nightmare and then when you've done it..... their going to do whatever they can to get out of paying...
How WRONG was I with "True Traveller"!
On the morning of leaving the UK I received a text wishing me a save journey… a nice touch I thought, but more important…. IN PLAIN ENGLISH…. cutting through all the waffle, the text explained what I needed to do if I needed to make a claim…..I was well impressed!
Five days later I had to take a covid test and tested positive...sob..sob…... And after coming out of isolation, had to make a claim.
I simply filled in the online claims form, printed it off to sign it and emailed it back with the necessary pics of the receipts.
Within minutes I received a reply acknowledging receipt of my claim and attachments.
Within an hour I received an email asking me to forward my covid vaccination status.
Again within an hour, I received an email stating how the claim was going to be dealt with and stating that the payment would be in my bank within the next 10 days.
Exactly 9 hours and 2 minutes from sending the claim to them, the payment was put into my bank...yes! Really.
So as far as I am concerned….. there is only one travel company to use…..YES.. you got it, its True Traveler…. 5 Stars all the way!

The team of True Traveller handled my case very fast and friendly. I fell victim of theft and I’m very relieved thanks to the refund. I anyway recommend to really read the conditions very carefully. Since there were a few things like excesses that I wasn’t aware of. Also if you want to claim clothes and hand in the bills, you only get them refunded if you bought them within the last year.
But these are things that one has to inform oneself about.
All in all very happy.
