I made An appointment at Kingston at 10;30 today. A friendly lady greeted me. I had an iPhone 7 replacement battery fitted. I went and had a coffee for 20 minutes. I came back to the shop and the battery and screen cover were replaced. Very pleased with the service. Would recommend this shop.

An appointment was quickly made at the Kingston iSmash branch and the replacement battery ordered. I was informed that the battery had arrived for my appointment. I arrived and left my Samsung mobile. I was informed by email, text and phone that it was ready. I picked it up and now a day later I can confirm that a good job was done. Very professional. Screen just stopped working and arranged on same day! New screen, complete with screen protector (would like to know what screen protector you use?).

Went to ismash kings road Chelsea, to get screen replaced on iPhone 6s. Chap asked me to fill out my details online. I asked him who has access to them. He told that he would tell me AFTER I had given my personal details. I explained that I’d prefer to know first, as I’ve had my phone, email, computer, hacked not so long ago. He then said it’s ismash company policy, that if a potential customer expresses concerns about being hacked, they should take their phone to apple to be repaired instead. I thought this odd, as Ismash look like a professional company on the surface; I would’ve thought they would:
1. Know exactly what happens to personal data & who has access to it.
2. Be able to reassure a customer with regards to the safety of their personal data with ismash.
P.s Chap (Zed) also asked me for my phones access code. I unlocked it without any trouble and told him I’d leave it unlocked for him. He took the phone & added his thumbprint to my ‘Touch ID.’ I objected to this, as it gave him access to all of bank accounts etc. I asked that he remove his thumbprint from my list; which he did reluctantly. I explained that I would leave my phone unlocked (with no switch off) for him and that it would give him access to see if the phone worked, without giving access to my bank accounts / personal apps etc. He told me that he would not repair my phone as my asking him to remove his touch access from my phone, proved I didn’t trust him. I am a 68 year old pensioner. I am computer literate (having come up with them since the early 90s at Brunel University.) I am fully aware that Zed could access everything he needed to on the phone when I left it permanently unlocked; he did not need the touch access at all. Be aware people; Zed might be completely above board and just a bit thoughtless, but hey, asking someone to trust in giving you unlimited access to their bank accounts etc, when you’ve only just met in a shop???? Get real.

Booked a visit for an ismash store and provided all of my phone details, only to find out they didn’t have parts to fix my phone, or a record of my booking even though I had an email confirmation. I asked if any other stores in London had the phone parts in store and was advised no other ismash store would have them in stock, and they would not be able to get them in stock for 2 weeks. The store manager was lovely and apologetic, he advised that they’d had issues with their booking system which had been escalated to head office. However it’s wasted 3 hours of my Saturday and a train ticket into London- not happy!
