"Do not buy Status bifold doors from Vufold if you live in a marine environment"

I bought two Status bifold doors last summer. They were fitted in my newbuild at the start of October. I live near the sea and Vufold sales advised paying extra to get marine grade powder coating on the doors. What they did not say was that the hardware on the doors would not last any time in a marine environment. Since they were fitted in the newbuild in October, the doors have not been opened, as the building has been surrounded by scaffolding that was removed only at the start of February. Yet by mid-February, four-and-a-half months after fitting, the hinges were corroding badly -- the satin nickel is pealing off and they look awful. How long they will carry on working smoothly, I do not know. Even hinges inside the doors, ie that have not been getting rained on at all, are corroding in this way. Vufold have said they will provide replacement hinges that are powder coated but can give no assurance that they will last a good length of time. They do not sell marine grade hinges. They will not give money back. The bifolds were very expensive. I am writing this because I do not want anyone else to go through the same awful experience. Do not buy these bifolds if you live anywhere near the sea.

Following Vufold's reply:
Two points:
Firstly, no one has responded to the fact that even internal hinges that have not got wet have corroded. It could well be that the hinges don't last well wherever you live.
Secondly, had I been advised to have black powder-coated hardware at the sales stage, there is no way I would have bought these bifolds. With black hardware they do not match any other windows or doors on my newbuild. I was offered no element of refund, and no stainless steel hardware was available. So I have accepted the black powder-coated hardware as the only way to try to keep my extremely expensive bifolds working. But it is not a satisfactory solution.
I remain bitterly disappointed in my purchase and would recommend no one to buy these bifolds, to be honest wherever they live.

We had the tools missing from our blainds order. To e fair we had themfor a while before we tried to install them, and discovered we did not have the correct tools, and vufold were great they sent us the tools out straight away. Cant fault them.

Excellent company to deal with from quotation stage to installation. We had a prolonged order period due to contractor being so busy. Vufold were very helpful in updating the quotation and providing technical details. Once the order was placed we were kept advised of progress and delivery was exactly as advised at order. Speedy technical assistance was provided for our one query regards installation. Advice was given to the contractor and installation progressed smoothly. Would certainly recommend Vufold as a great company to deal with.

Had a problem with the lock on my Ultra 4.8M bifold door set, spoke with Vufold who organised for the lock company / locksmith. He came out the same day managed to open the locked doors & replaced the lock without any fuss. Fantastic service would highly recommend:) David in Sheffield

"Very,very pleased with the way my query was dealt with.."

I purchased 2 sets of 3.6m bi fold doors in the springtime of 2022.Once fitted they looked fantastic. Unfortunately, around November 2022 one section of the 10 individual doors had developed a defect.

Contacted Vufold..

The phone was answered within a minute and spoke to Cheryl at customer services.
I sent in details of the issue as requested and they rang me back the following day as agreed.
They replaced the section of door with an apology for the inconvenience caused.
The whole process was stress free and the new section had arrived within a week of reporting this.

I have no problem giving this firm 5 stars.
The product is of good quality and looks fabulous and they resolved an issue very professionally through their customer services.
I would be very happy to use this company in the future. Well done..!

"Water damage after only 2 years..."

Front door installed in Sept 2020 and carefully cared for. Unfortunately seeing significant signs of water penetration and staining of the oak. Issue acknowledged by Vufold after sending photos but they say it is not covered by warranty. Doors do need maintenance but to fail in 2 years is unacceptable. What is the warranty for if it does not cover the failure of the doors protective layer?
Very disappointing for a £750 door after only two years.

"Poor support and more help needed"

I Iove my bifold doors but they have started to stick. I live alone and need some help to fix them and just keep getting emails suggesting what I can do to fix them. Today I spent over 2 hours tweaking and fixing as per their instructions. I have ended up with a slipped screw head and at one point doors that wouldn’t shut at all. After a lot of tears a friend helped me to get them to at least close but I now can’t open them! I am distraught, don’t know what to do and despite asking for an engineer or support under the 10 year guarantee I get email advice. I am really stuck now and need help. So far customer service is poor and not what I expected when I bought the doors.

We bought bi fold doors plus blinds. Delivery was excellent and fast. I would advice you to go and have a look at their showroom. You can see the quality of their products. We had a slight issue with the blinds. One of the blinds string were a different colour. This was rectified and we received a replacement within 3 days. Excellent customer service. This co.pany deserves 10 stars!

Definitely worth 5-Stars for both the product and company…! Good pre-sales advice, fast delivery, items well packaged and delivered with care - no damage in transit. The quality of the doors, hinges and accessories is Excellent…!. This was my first time to fit doors and I found them easy to install as a DIYer. The instructions are clear and easy to follow and all the parts are carefully laid out in a separate box and labelled. All the tools required are also supplied and they even have a video showing the installation steps. Good technical support by knowledgeable staff when I called with a question. There is no drilling, cutting or routing required and it all fits together beautifully! Adjustment and alignment is easy. The blinds also fit perfectly! We are very happy with our purchase, which has completely transformed the rooms…!
