Had someone round with what, 7 samples of carpet? Bog standard carpet really. He measured up living room, stairs and upstairs hall way, the living room I’d say is an average living room size plus 1/3rd rectangle shape and average stairs and hallway size. He measured up and gave me a quote of £850!, and that was with a discount and an upfront payment of £400 fitting!! How can they justify that! Unless the queen has walked all over It then don’t bother!
Straight away it was when do you want to book fitting, I shouldn’t have to feel pressured in my own home to pay £850 for standard carpets because they’ve travelled 50 miles to get here, if that’s the case you charge people to cover call out fee and deduct it from the balance if they go ahead with it. Don’t get me wrong the guy that came seemed nice, but don’t pressure you’re workers to hit sales when you’re ripping people off, surely fitting a carpet shouldn’t cost more than the actual carpet itself!
Very disappointed as this is my first home and I was really looking forward to it.
