Ich stornierte drei Wochen vor Mietbeginn (da die Buchung via der deutschen Webseite nicht korrekt funktionierte), erstellte (via der englischen Webseite) eine neu Buchung und informierte Avia rent a car per E-Mail darüber. In der letzten Nachricht wurde ich von Frau Mia Jurjevic auf die term of conditions verwiesen.
Term of conditions
Reservation deposit is non-refundable in case of cancellation. Reservation paid in full or partially is non-refundable in case of cancellation. In case of cancellation 24 hours prior reservation time an Voucher will be provided in prepaid amount that can be used on other occasion. Cancelled reservation voucher will be provided only in case of justified cancellation (cancelled flight, illness, death case) with submitted
proof.

very unfriendly staff and Avia is way too expensive for all risk insurance. I really don't recommend you to anyone. The amount they charge for no risk insurance is written by hand on a small square white paper, how credible is that? I booked via a different agency so the all risk insurance was found by us / not clearly mentioned to us.

"Mixed Experience with Avia Car Rentals in Croatia: Ongoing Issues Need Addressing"
We rent a car through CHECK24 with Avia in Croatia every year, as we regularly travel there. The check-in process was smooth, the service was friendly, and the car was clean and in good condition. However, there is always something to criticize each year. This time, it was the size of the trunk: Although it was stated that two large suitcases would fit, this was only possible if we removed the trunk cover and the floor panel. These had to be placed inside the cabin, which significantly reduced the legroom for the passengers in the backseat. Ultimately, only one large suitcase properly fit in the trunk; we had to improvise to make room for the second one.Another issue arose with the payment. The booking confirmation indicated that Visa was accepted, but our Visa online card was not accepted on-site. This led to lengthy and unnecessary discussions, which were especially frustrating after a flight delay of two and a half hours. In such a situation, you just want to pick up your car and get on your way. Unfortunately, this caused significant delays, as not everyone carries a second credit card, and without it, you can't get the car. It would be helpful if the booking confirmation clearly stated that Visa online cards are not accepted.Last year, we had issues with the car return process. It’s disappointing that something always goes wrong when booking with Avia in Croatia, even though we haven’t had these problems in other countries. We sincerely hope that the situation improves in the future, as we generally like booking through Avia.

"Shocking customer service from start to…"
Shocking customer service from start to finish. I'll get to this in a minute, but first the 1km walk from the building in 37c heat with 3 children and 3 large bags. You need to be aware of this before you book, the you don't pick your car up at the airport you walk to a dirt shack outside without any assistance. When you get there you're met by rude, unhelpful staff who couldn't wait to try and scare us into buying add on's. I had an issue with my credit card, even though my wife was a named driver they wouldn't accept her's. They wanted us to pay £1,500 on a debit card as security! My wife was there, with her passport, driving licence and credit card and they wouldn't accept it. There was zero sense of customer relations - they were more interested in up-selling and getting as much out of you as possible. I would avoid at all costs.
UPDATE: it's definitely a considerable walk and a lot longer than the stated 300m. The reply below, the tone, the way it's constructed tells you everything you need to know about this company and the way they will treat you.

We got our car quickly, everything was fine. The car was quite new, we could inspect it before I had to sign the paper with the defects.
If we would have taken a ferry to an island we would have to pay 50.- EUR, same for leaving the original country. The Base in Split was kind of like on a gravel pitch, but was near the airport.

Véhicule très propre et en bon état. Contrairement à certains commentaires que j'avais lu avant de récupérer le véhicule et qui m'avait fait peur, l'agence est facilement trouvable, le personnel accueillant. Je pense qu'à partir du moment où l'on s'informe avant et qu'on a bien lu leurs conditions de location, et qu'on se présente avec les bonnes cartes de crédit, (tout est bien expliqué dans la réservation) tout se passe bien.

The car pick up went well, the car was also fine according to what was requested. The only thing is that there are many extras to pay, if you want to leave the country and on the other hand, I paid extra insurance on my reservation for any incident (which there was not) but they also charged me €2100 on my card as a guarantee that they are supposed to return to you when you drop off the car, if you have any damage they use these €2100 to cover the deductible and you already deal with the insurance you have paid, because I do not think it is the most correct if I already paid an extra on the reservation. In addition, the charge on my card of the €2100 was immediate, however, the refund after 5 days has not arrived yet.
