"Use caution with Bookatrekking "

I contracted with Bookatrekking for the Haute Route. They booked my accommodations. Towards the end of the trek, my hotel for the night had a reservation for me, but expected me to pay them. I contacted Bookatrekking and by morning they had resolved the problem. Okay. Two nights later, my hotel didn’t have a reservation for me.
I contacted Bookatrekking and they said they would resolve the problem. They never paid the hotel. They said the hotel didn’t send them an invoice. The hotel said they sent it twice. I ended up paying the hotel. What was so irritating to me was that Bookatrekking chose this hotel. Whatever disagreement they had with the hotel was not my fault, but I was the one being inconvenienced. What is so hard about paying for a hotel room? Anyway, Bookatrekking said they would reimburse me. I was to email them my invoice from the hotel. The first two times they said they didn’t receive it. The third time, they did. It took over a month for me to be reimbursed. I don’t feel comfortable using Bookatrekking again.

"Anna Purna Circuit trekking 10 days "

What a great adventure to do the Anna Purna circuit and hike to the Thorang La Pass at 5416m. Everyday was great with such a beautiful landscapes, mountains and animals. I enjoyed every single minute, although it is a bit tough to hike this high as well, the views and people made every discomfort disappear. My guide Subash was amazing, he took such a good care of me and always made sure I had a good meal and room. He knows much about the mountains and is very professional. We had much fun as well, same with the porter Arjun. The guys are amazing, I will miss their always happy smiles. I would definitely recommend to go with Alpine Ramble treks.

"Our trek to the Annapurna Base Camp in…"

Our trek to the Annapurna Base Camp in early December 2024 was an unforgettable adventure, impeccably organized by Dil Gurung and his team. From the flights between Kathmandu and Pokhara and back to being picked up in Pokhara and meeting our guide and porter, renting sleeping bags and a duffle bag, every detail was handled flawlessly. Our knowledgeable guide, Iman Gurung, and our very strong porter, Laudi Gurung, were incredibly helpful and always there when we needed them. Especially on a day when we weren't feeling our best, they took great care of us. We thank Dil, Iman and Laudi for this amazing experience. If we come back to Nepal for another trip, we would be happy to do it with the same team!

"12-days ABC-Trek"

We booked the 12-day ABC trek via bookatrekking.com. First of all: we would do it on our own next time, but the first time it is definitely a good idea to have a guide and especially porter with you. The costs incurred for the trek are horrendously high and not justified. If all the money went to the guide and porter, that would be fine. But of course they only get a fraction. Our guide Purna was great, he answered all our questions about the country and the people, and was flexible when we changed our plans (we didn't travel by bus from Kathmandu because we had already been in Pokhara beforehand, we didn't stay in the hotel we were given because we had already checked into a better hotel and left our unnecessary things there for the trek, we wanted to check into the hotel again afterwards and not the one booked by the agency, and we didn't want to go straight back by bus, but wanted to spend some time in Pokhara). We also always made spontaneous changes during the trek because the program is unfortunately not as great in practice as it sounds. On some days we would have walked far too little and finished by midday, and on some days we would have felt like we had to break records. So we often spontaneously replanned with Purna and the porter Surja (who unfortunately couldn't speak English, but we had a lot of fun with him using hands and feet) and decided to walk further or, for example, not to spend a night in the ABC because of the cold, but to go back down on the same day as the climb and to end the trek a day earlier, etc. All of this was flexible and could be arranged spontaneously with Purna and Surja. What really annoyed us was that the booking fee of over €2,000 included accommodation that took a lot of getting used to (which was sometimes unavoidable, as it was just a teahouse or something, but sometimes there were better accommodations around). You also often had to pay for water yourself (it says so on the website, but for the high price they could have included it) and you have to drink a lot on the trek. There was more than enough food, there was a meal three times a day. We also got biscuits in between, and in the evening after dinner we got apples, Snickers and pomegranate seeds. But not fruit after every meal as described, only in the evening. But that was completely sufficient! For example, we got a free cup of tea/coffee per person in the morning, but not after that. We had to pay extra for water or other drinks. And the cost of drinks on the trek is insane. The nature and the chosen route are great. The layout, as described, is just a bit difficult, you have to rearrange everything a bit spontaneously. The sleeping bags that we received through the agency Alpine Ramble were great and kept us warm at night in the cold and the simple accommodation (after a certain point there are no more stoves in the communal rooms). Alpine Ramble was the name of the agency that Purna and Surja work for and which was booked through bookatrekking.com. If we had known that, we would of course have booked directly with them and not through the expensive agency bookatrekking. We would probably have saved ourselves a lot of money that way. Especially since you also have to tip 10% of the booking fee at the end. That would be another €200.

All in all, we can say that we had a great guide and porter, and we would always recommend them both!! But we wouldn't book another trek that expensively through the agency, but rather with smaller local companies like for Nepal Alpine Rumble.

"Annapurna circuit"

We hadden geweldige gidsen; Purna, Man en Manoj.

"Trekking"

Trekking: Annapurna Circuit Nepal, 15 Tage

"12-Daagse Manaslu Circuit Trek"

"Annapurna circuit trekking"

I really had a great experience with Bookatrekking! Before the trekking I was in easy contact with them to get ready and I was also really happy with the Nepalese organization they work with (Alpine Ramble). I had an amazing time with Addit, our guide, and Robi and Dib, our super strong and funny porters! Would highly recommend!
