"Company rents cars not suitable for driving."
It took two hours to get picked up from the airport. The car had bald tires, check engine light was on, alignment was off, a fog light was burnt off and the car had a lot of rust. The company rents out cars, that are not safe to drive putting peoples lives in jeopardy. The company clearly does not care about negative reviews and I will be taking the time to file a complaint with the Icelandic Authorities.

waited 2 hours at the airport for pickup.
No transportation for passengers was provided so they had to wait at the airport until I could pick them up 5 hours later.
After 90 minutes wait thwy checked me in but the car they presented was full of damages which I documented.
I turned on the car an the engine light came on.
They told me that this was nothing to worry about?…
The lights were not functioning s o I refused this car
The second car was brought up and there was something hanging down underneath the car probably a brake cable??
I refused this car as well so they brought another car.
This car also had a lot of damages , they documented them including the fact that this car had over 200000 km on the odometer.
The website mentioned that all cars have navigation systems but this car had not so they sold me a mobile one at a rate of 110 Euro for 10 days.I ha no choice rather than accept this.
Return was the same
Overwhelmed people at the counter.
No shutlle to the airport for an hour so I had to call a cab to the airport for 25 Euro.
NEVER USE THEM in the future!!!!!!!!!!!
After writing my concerns no reply from them probably they know that 99 percent of the customers will not return anyway!,,
Stay away from them!!!!

"Not recommendable"
I waited 2 1/2 hours to pick upp the car. Then they wanted to block my creditcard so it would have been impossible to use it on iceland. So I was forced to buy an inscurrence that I did not want. The car got very expensive with that although it was not a good car, pretty old and with lots of damages.

"This is your NIGHTMARE"
Picked up car at FairCar location that was not maintained, missing bolts from in wheels and maintenance light got on the right away. We checked oil level which was fine but dark as night. We had damage insurance but nothing that will cover changing oil or new tires. Got two flats on the second day of driving because the tires were done. Had to purchase two new tires for $340. Say away from this company because its a shi* show or purchase all insurance options they have, which is like 10 different options.

"Don't expect to be picked up any time soon"
Similar to other reviewers forever > 30 min to get picked up from the airport. We could not even find where the driver was supposed to pick us up for a while. I had to leave my wife behind because the shuttle did not have room for both of us.
The car they gave us had dirty seats, the check engine light kept going on/off intermittently, and I was amazed it ran okay during the whole trip despite >200,000 km. There was multiple issues with the car body but it functioned okay. We were told my road services not to worry about it and they will deal with it when we return the car.
They need to hire more shuttles/drivers for quicker airport pick up. From the time we were ready to be picked up to when we got the car was > 4 hrs.
We booked through wisecars.

"Horrible!"
Horrible!
1. We waited 45 min from arriving in the airport to we got picked up.
We tried to phone, but nobody answered the phone.
2. When we finally got picked up and arrived to the car rental place, we had to wait another 2,5 hours to get our car!
3. The car was horrible - very old, full of bumps, driven 138.000 km, and we even had to call road help ones, because it wouldn’t start. I would never drive a car like that at home. It really took a lot of the fun out of being on a road trip.
4. When leaving the car back we had to wait more than an hour, and almost missed our flight.
Really the worst car rental experience ever! (And I have rented cars all over the world at least 50 times)
Don’t use this supplier!

Old small car, over an hours wait to get the car. Charging for every little thing- NOTE: look at your credit card limit

"Overall ok, but with some arrival / check-in pain"
Overall, fair car is not as bad as some of the reviews make it out to be, but also not as good as most Americans would expect.
Things you should know:
1. The rental agency did not pick up the phone when we called from the airport. This is likely because they were overwhelmed with the number of checking in folks / high tourist season.
2. Once the shuttle driver arrived at the airport, the van was packed full of people, and we had to squeeze in or wait 20-40 minutes for another shuttle to come.
3. The check-in process took about 1 hour once we arrived at the agency.
4. The car tire pressure light was on, and we specifically noted it, but it seemed strange that they were perfectly ok with this and told us it was ok.
5. The car we got was fuel efficient, and we spent less on gas than we expected to. This was good
6. The return process was painless. Yay!
7. We did notice that another group made a mistake and rented a manual instead of an automatic. Make sure you are sure to get an automatic transmission if you need it! An automatic will likely not be available unless you correctly reserve it and it's more expensive.
8. The economy level car itself was good for what we needed as a couple with limited baggage. I would suggest folks upgrade if they expect to bring more than one large bag or if there are more than 2 people traveling.

"dangereux et inconscient"
FairCar nous a loué une voiture vieillissante et très mal entretenue. Nous avons eu dès le deuxième jour des problèmes de batterie, de freins (obligés de faire le voyage au frein moteur) et avec une tente de toit... trouée. Vent et pluie dedans chaque nuit.
L’inacceptable étant qu’ils n’ont jamais répondu à nos mails et le numéro de téléphone n’était pas attribué. Un enfer.
Ils ont fait un geste commercial à notre demande une fois la voiture ramenée mais une chose est sure, plus jamais FairCar !
