Words cannot begin to describe my anger with this institution. I had an account here for three months barely and was receiving direct deposits regularly until the day before my expected deposit these clowns decide to close the account for some “risk tolerance” reason. Never had a returned item or issue with deposits and suddenly I am a “risk”??!? You don’t do this to people without proper notice and then tell them it’s essentially their problem.
In the end these people could care less about your money or your circumstances in which they put you out and leave you scrambling at the eleventh hour to fix the mess they created.
I’ve had many a bad banking experiences in my life but these asshats take the cake by a country mile

"Hey hackers"

Hey hackers, if you want to perform a denial of service account and completely lock someone out of their account, just enter their email and password wrong a few times. They will completely lose access to their account, the email codes sent to them are wrong and leads to a complete lock out that only a trained tech agent during business hours can unlock if they can figure it out. I wouldn't recommend this bank to anyone if you depend on 24 hour access. Just don't do it. sometimes a major bank or even another online bank is worth it, just not these guys, where are they in india? third world systems here. I left your security team a nice long log of 10+ login attempts into the support account. Have fun.

"False advertisement of TFSA GIC rate"

For 1 week I have discovered that this bank is practicing false advertisement by showing a TFSA GIC rate of 5.2%, now 5.25%. They are trying to lock in your TFSA rate at their regular daily rate of 3.0%, and not allow you to take advantage of their GIC rates. I know this to be true because I can buy their regular GICs that can be taxed by the government, but not the TFSA GICs.

The day after I reported this, I was allowed to buy a TFSA GIC from my TFSA account.

2023-07-07: Today after they changed the rates, I am not allowed to buy a 2 year term. They are still practicing False Advertisement.

"EQ Bank Partnership with Mogo."

EQ Bank, and Mogo partnered in April, to accept new customers from Mogo, as Mogo was ending their Mogo Card segment. The partnership involved opening an EQ account through your Mogo account, and you would receive a bonus $20.00 into your account.

It's now June, and I'm still waiting.

I contacted EQ Bank by phone, and the representative said that the funds would appear in my account, shortly. After 3 weeks, it still wasn't there.

I contacted EQ a second time, and the representative advised that they knew of the programme, but didn't know how it worked. I was given number to call, and when I called it, it was out of service.

I contacted EQ, again, and got a different person. I explained the situation, and was given the same number. After I told her that it was out of service, she also advised that she was aware of the programmed, but didin't know how it worked.

How could this be?

How can a business partner with another business, but no one knows how it works?

Either EQ has very poor information flow to their reps, or they are not honouring their partnership agreement with Mogo.

Anyway, I'm still waiting for my $20.00 to apprear in the account, and as for Mogo, I'm still waiting a reply from an email.

This is a poor, and very shoddy way of doing business, especially for a registered bank.

"Run - They cannot be trusted with your money."

To be brief, I signed up and started laddering GIC's.
First GIC came to term, and the funds went to the account.
I went to etransfer funds away from the bank, and the system keeps kicking me out stating error message and to contact support.
I contact them, no reply. Stay away from this company at all costs, I don't believe the positive reviews are real or authentic, this "Bank" is nonsense.
Going to work through the channels, get my money back and never deal with them again.
If you send money in good faith and then can't take it out when you want, you don't have a bank... you have a hostage situation where the bank is holding you up!

"Not ready yet! a bit dissapointing"

I've been using EQ Bank for less than a year, and while the app is good, my recent experience with the external link account system was disappointing. I transferred money from an external account, and it took 5 business days to be available, which is longer than expected. While I appreciate the security measures in place, the delay was inconvenient. Additionally, since EQ Bank doesn't offer a credit card, I won't be using it for my day-to-day banking needs. Overall, EQ Bank has some strengths, but there are areas for improvement.

"I've had an account for several years"

I've had an account for several years. Like anything tech these days sometimes there is an issue but EQ was responsive and fixed thing right away. The EQ team has always been friendly and helpful

"Fix 2FA!"

There is a bug with the 'remember this device' option when logging in on Firefox. This means you have to get a code via a text message every single time. I reported this and was basically told 'tough, use a different browser'

"Simple, Clean, No fees, Sometimes a bit Janky"

Pros: Great interest rates, no monthly fees and no minimum balance, easy to use

Cons: On occasion, the server crashes and you can’t log in (particularly on the first of the month when everyone’s eager to see their monthly interest come through). EQ card was a great new feature. However, it’s still a MasterCard, not an interac debit card
