"No Delivery of Car (Less than 24hr Notice)"
I'm giving Elmo two star. They have a very good user interface and polite customer service but the experience I had with them was all kinds of terrible.
Booked my vehicle 3 weeks in advance. Went through their onboarding process seamlessly and received an email to say my car was being delivered the next day. I then received a call from the team to say that my car had been delayed five days which was no good to me because I needed the car for a journey that started 3 days after the start of the rental.
The reason I was given is that the logistics company didn't have any drivers available. I asked them to push back with their supplier and that they had 4 days to find a driver. They called me back and said they were unable to do that. I offered to go and collect the vehicle, such was the urgency of having that particular car for that particular time. They said they could not do that because the battery needed to be charged which to me indicated the car was not at the facility yet and they had had a delay with a previous rental. I challenged them to solve the problem and they couldn't do anything. Their customer service team is very polite but they were just reading from the manual, rather than actually explaining to me what had happened from their suppliers point of view.
It was a hypothetical questions but I asked them that if I started the rental on the new date, what could they offer me in terms of compensation. The answer was unequivocally 'nothing' which I was surprised about to be honest but it told me a lot.
I was unable to find the car I was looking for elsewhere, and our plans were scuppered and money was lost. To communicate with me less than 24hrs before the rental is about to start, has never happen to me with a regular rental or leasing company.
I won't be using Elmo again, because I don't believe they did everything they could do to get the car delivered. Either that, or they weren't telling the truth about why they car couldn't be delivered. I just don't trust them as a brand.

"Speedy response to queries"
Had a couple of queries around driving abroad (we have family in Europe so would need to be able to travel there regularly), and couldn’t see the info we were looking for on the website, but I had a really helpful, speedy interaction with Sohail that answered my questions perfectly. This sort of service is rare, and gives us real confidence to press the button and sign up.

"Decent service, in need of some polishing"
I am currently in the middle of my first month with Elmo, so I've been through booking/delivery and dealt with some inflight car issues, and I have to say the team are pretty responsive and have done their best to resolve my requests.
I'm using Elmo to try various different EVs before buying one, so I like the range of vehicles they offer (which is wider than the competitors I looked at) and the idea of a short term lease. However they aren't being particularly good at promoting the new vehicles they are bringing in, or responding to my requests for updates, which is a bit frustrating.
But my main concern with Elmo is what happens when your vehicle needs a service. They basically take the car away but continue to charge you - without even a courtesy car! They don't tell you up front when this will happen, so you have to ask specifically - you have been warned!

I met your Team Leader Lewis today when I stopped to charge my car at the motorway services. What a lovely young man! Lewis was incredibly helpful, very approachable and great to chat to. He showed me exactly what to do to charge my MG and explained such a lot about electric cars.

So I joined Elmo and then had some concerns after, was very stressed but then got through to Louis. Louis was ABSOLUTELY BRILLIANT! From the minute he got my concerns, I got timely responses and safe to say everything is resolved and I'm excited to be a long term Elmo customer! BEST customer service I'VE EVER received- so quick and efficient and they totally understood what I wanted.
