"I would give 0 star if I could"

I would give 0 star if I could. I have been painting as a DIY-er for good 14 years. I got this from B&Q, spent hours and hours prepping walls. What followed was a nightmare that brought me to verge of crying. Coats and coats of paint on a wall that is primed. Paint would start peeling off from random places . I think it takes 2-4 weeks to stick to wall. Thankfully weather is on our side so we are lucky in that way.
Anyone wish to use this paint, please let me tell you that this paint is non-forgiving unlike Dulux or Wilko( which is sadly defunct now). I have tried to come to understand the working of this product and I have come to conclusion that if your wall is slightly unprimed or the paint is not mixed well or you have pressed roller a little bit more than needed, then be ready for punishment. Bare in mind I was using mid-sheen, i have a feeling gloss will be lot worse and matt may be better.
Will I recommend this paint? Yes definitely, TO MY WORST ENEMIES😂

"Excellent Paint"

I've been using Valspar paint for many years and have never had any issues or problems from the paint. I always use the premium paint and it covers well, isn't too thin, very good quality.

"Their machine was broken and Valspar won't refund"

I bought a tester pot, I decided on this colour and used the tester pot to do all the cutting in.

I did around 6 doorways, the dado rail and along and up the whole stairwell.

I then bought 5l of premium paint to fill in the walls.

Whilst working, I noted the difference in the paint colours, but believed it to be due to the cutting-in being dry and the fresh paint being wet.

In the morning, I realised that the two colours were completely different.

I went to the store, they confirmed that I had bought the tester pot when Valspars mixing machine had been adding 40% extra white to the mix. In the interim (between my buying the tester and the 5l paint), Valspar fixed the machine and the paint that I bought was inarguably a different colour. I asked for a refund *VALSPAR REFUSED*

"The second tin of valspar interior…"

The second tin of valspar interior wood/metal. It’s like painting with water. And after painting a door with a roller it had left bubbles and looks atrocious. I have been painting for over 40 years and have never experienced anything like it. It’s so expensive and the worst paint I’ve ever seen or used. I wish I could have posted a photo!

"Absolutely rubbish paint"

Absolutely rubbish paint. I brought a tin of acrylic paint for wood. Like trying to paint with milk. Would not cover a filled and sanded screw hole.
Tried to return to B&Q would not refund as I had opened the tin and used a teaspoon of this appalling paint. Paint really thin even after 5 minutes using a paddle mixer attached to my drill. B&Q gave me a full refund after speaking to a manager who agreed with me after opening the tin of paint.

"Don't buy"

Bought paint from B & q after looking in valspar colour chart online found the colour we wanted. B & q mixed the paint with the code I showed the man on my phone. Got it home, nothing like the colour online. Took it back but won't refund as valspar have a guarantee if you don't like the colour, valspar will refund if you buy another tin. I thought I found a colour similar to what I wanted and went home with it. Nowhere near. Now I have 2 tins of paint I won't use. I contacted valspar as stated and was told the machine would have been faulty and to contact the manufacturer of the machine???? I did this and they basically said they repair and service paint mixing machines installed in stores. Got back to valspar with the reply and was told yet again it could be a mis tint. Take it back to the store and ask them to add some black or white??? I am not going to do that. The nearest store is 8 miles away. I have replied again and just asked for a refund and they are more than welcome to collect the unused tins of paint. This has been going on for 2 weeks now and its a lot of money to waste. Not very happy 😕with the customer service at all. Will not recommend or buy this product again, despite previous purchases have been without issue. Look for other paint, not worth the stress or hassle, considering I have asked for a refund several times and still nothing!

"Don't waste time with Valspar"

What a waste of time, purchased 5 L of trade eggshell from B&Q and applied of clean sugar-soaped surface. Noticed as it was drying loads of bits on the wall, I then washed out my tray, its then I noticed contaminated paint. White pieces like thin spaghetti. Contacted the company and asked for all the information, I said I'd be happy to seal up what's left and post it to you for testing. They refused as the information was good enough, this was three weeks ago still no refund now another 10 working days to test. Never will I purchase paint from Valspar. I wondered why B&Q said no refund on purchasing

"Full coverage Matt paint "

Had a really good experience with this paint. Had the colour mixed in store which is the exact same colour as the paper swatch (struggle with this with other brands.) Brought the basic Matt colour in woodland path (very dark olive) and only took two coats for full coverage on my white walls. Would recommend!

"Don't bother with Valspar"

Don't bother with Valspar. It is very watery and you need 4 coats minimum. When mentioned this in B & Q was informed that the issue was because we bought the Classic instead of Premium. If this is the case then why sell the Classic.
My advice buy Dulux or Dulux One Coat it is cheaper in the long run

"Poor quality thin paint "

I'm currently trying to paint my metal front door with Valspar Exterior Metal Paint and it is very thin and not covering very well. I'm going to have to do around 8-10 coats in order to get a reasonable finish.
It is also very thin and runs terribly. I already have two drips which have dried and I may need to sand them out and start again.
Wish I had never bought it.

07.05.24 - I am now on my sixth coat and third dried drip.
