The current tv ad on Rakuten for the paint is traumatic owing to the current earthquake occurring around the world and the impact. Valspar should consider changing this ad. It may have been published before the accidents but now makes it quite an uncomfortable ad

"I am so disappointed…"

I am so disappointed with the Valspar paint I purchased, despite what I was told this product has performed far below expectations. I have painted an entire five-bedroom house from top to bottom, all with freshly plastered walls.

After applying two full coats as directed, I was shocked to see that the finish dried extremely patchy, with an uneven and inconsistent appearance across the walls. I had taken great care with the preparation and application process, so this was particularly frustrating.

Worse still, the paint seems to mark at the slightest touch. Whether it’s a finger brushing the wall, or an item being carried past, it leaves visible marks almost instantly. Attempting to clean these marks only makes things worse — the paint lifts or discolors, leaving behind dull or patchy areas that are just as noticeable as the original mark.

I chose Valspar based on its reputation for quality, but this experience has been incredibly disappointing, a product that clearly hasn’t lived up to the hype!

Made a review of this paint on 30th March 2025.
I gave this paint one Star.
Valspar got in touch with me and I explained the problems I was getting and they gave me some pointers.
Having now completed the process below I had no problems and only two coats
1. lightly sand the wall
2. Using a damp cloth wipe the wall and let it dry.
3. Use Valspar Primer & Undercoat. Because we had chosen a dark colour they suggested using (Grey) Primer.
5. Paint the wall liberally and I mean liberally. As before I was not putting enough on the roller.
6. leave for 4 hours between coats

"This is the worst paint I have ever used"

This is the worst paint I have ever used!

Disgraceful quality, it gives terrible coverage, if you put the paint on the wall with a roller or a brush and happen to touch the same area within seconds it peels off like a layer of latex and clumps into lumps on the wall.

I bought this relatively expensive paint and I’m now going to have to sand all the walls down to try and even out the surface and start all over again. Not only a waste of money but precious time I do not have!

Disgraceful quality and I’ll never be using it again and will recommend everyone else avoids using it.

"Peinture VALSPAR Pro Castorama"

Sur les conseils d'un vendeur chez CASTORAMA Angoulème j'ai acheté un pot de peinture Valspar Pro 1L base C teintée sur un coloris jaune de mon choix.

Je suis extrèmement déçu par cette peinture qui n'a aucune des qualitées ventées par Castorama et la marque VALSPAR

En fait c'est une des plus mauvaise qualité de peinture que j'ai eu à utiliser depuis 40 ans !!

J'avais à couvrir un pan de mur en excellent état déja peint en gris pale d'une surface de 5 m2 , dés l'ouverture du pot j'ai eu une mauvaise impression : peinture fine " trés diluée " , à l'utilisation elle est vraiment trés peu couvrante contrairement à la publicité de Castorama et des conseils du vendeur : les raccords et les " rechampis" restent visibles mème si on passe du temps à croiser, au final j'ai utilisé le pot de 1L en 4 couches et le résultat n'est pas encore bon , des traces de raccord rouleau restent perceptibles et la teinte n'a aucune profondeur.

Worst paint ever. It dries streaky or with shady patches. Two coats done and it still look awful. The dulux white we applied prior to the Venetian plaster colour was perfect with no patches or streaks so we know the base we were painting on was good. I would warn anyone against this paint. We are probably going to have to buy another pot in order to cover the room as it is going to take three coats to reach the quality of one coat of dulux.

Bought this paint in good faith even though it carried a premium price. The colour match was not too dissimilar to the original base colour.
Never been so disappointed with this product. It is nearly as thin as water, cover is so thin it's transparent. After 3 coats still nowhere near complete coverage, very patchy.
I'm now having to go and buy a higher quality brand name where I know from experience 1 coat will be sufficient. Why B&Q head up this appalling Valspar brand is beyond me. My advice - avoid like the plague and save yourself many hours of labour and frustration.

"Do not buy this paint"

Do not buy this paint! It’s the absolute worse paint. I purchased the most durable version there was! I was told it can be scrubbed and wiped etc. even just the slightest touch leaves marks on the wall! I had dust on the wall that was noticeable as the light shines from above it. I used a cloth to wipe it and now the wall is marked like streaky! It was the slightest touch and it’s already damaged the paintwork! You can’t even use a damp cloth to wipe up marks as it leaves a wet looking patch (it is most definitely not wet the patch doesn’t dry as the rest of the wall looks shiny) I literally don’t know what to do … any slight mark looks even worse after trying to clean the walls. I can not stress at how awful the quality of this paint is. Should have stuck to the dulux trade. Hanging a shelf and the paint will chip off the wall just from the shelf touching the wall (with no force quit literally just from adjusting the shelf touching get it into the bracket, got a little mark you want to clean … guess what it will ruin your walls!

"My New Favourite Paint"

We have been struggling to find a paint colour we could agree on for our living room and we settled on Lick Blue 03 until we saw the price!! So we took the Lick card to B&Q for colour matching and chose Valspar paint.
It went on like a dream, coverage was amazing & it didn’t seem to splatter as much as other paints.
Highly recommend.
