Valspar Paint

"If you value your own time, use something else"
Purchased the "premium" scrubbable emulsion in white to paint a large room. Don't mind paying more for quality, detest paying more for rubbish which is what I did here. Four coats so far and it still isn't white. Very patchy, no covering power, and supremely delicate surface that marks with no provocation. Dulux, I'm coming home! So sorry.

"Paint sucks"
Paint sucks. I've recently used it 3 times interior and exterior. You have to re-coat and re-coat. Id rather not

"Terrible paint"
Terrible paint - what a waste of time and money.
My husband painted a plaster wall and it is bubbling up and peeling everywhere. I will be taking the tin back to B & Q and will expect a refund. Will never use this paint again.

"Does not perform well one week in…"
Bought a 5L premium paint which is meant to be high performing scrubbable and stain resistant just before Christmas and used just after…. 3 coats required and it marks ever so easily likes is a thin cheap paint. Actually really disappointed in the quality although love the colour! Guess I will have to get a colour match in a different brand that maybe does what it says on the tin, so a waste of precious time and money

"Always used dulux washable but I was…"
Always used dulux washable but I was recommended valspar at B&Q worst decision ever made with paint.
My living room was fresh plaster had 2 coats of white 4 of a dark green in valspar and it needs another as it’s just had not evened out across the walls and you can see where a brush had been used V roller I used a professional decorator as well which has cost more than normal really disappointed @valspar what are you going to do to put this right for me?

"So dissapointed"
So dissapointed - We have used Valspar in the past and didnt have the best experience - BUT - I thought If I bought the premium version I could give it a second chance as it seemed good value for money and I couldnt find the colour I wanted anywhere else. This paint has gas lighted me - making me doubt myself feeling like i am a painting failure - after 4 coats on a primed and sanded wall its still patchy - i have a back condition and I really didn't expect to have to take a whole week to paint a small downstairs bathroom - my back is killing me because I have had to do so many unexpected coats. If the 4th coat doesnt look right, my wife has threatened to get a professional in to sort out the job - I don't think I will ever be let loose again on a paint job in the house!

"Seven coats to even out"
I’ve used valspar paint in two rooms previously, the first time it was ok and covered a feature wall in light blue paint in 3 coats. The second time was a deep red which took four coats to get an even cover, but the third time was horrendous. Seven coats later and it’s just about even. I have good brushes and rollers but this paint is so watery. So much so that it seeped under the edging tape and naturally peeled large sections of paint off the wall, taking it back to the original base colour. I wouldn’t buy this again in a million years!

"Highly Recommend - wall Prep is key. "
Used a combination of Valspar Trade and Premium, colour matched to Farrow and Ball at B&Q, for our living room walls. Super impressed with both - the coverage, colour density and application were all great.
I was painting freshly plastered walls so did a wash coat (50/50 water and Dulux Trade super matte white) onto the plaster with a second base coat of matte white after. Following this I filled with Toupret and sanded back to flat.
I then cut in the walls with a proper cutting in brush and that’s when i knew the paint was good. It was super opaque and also flowed nice and flat - this will also be because of the brush (strongly recommend using good quality tools for painting if you want good finishes).
First coat with a medium pile roller, let it dry and de-nibbed lightly with 180grit sand paper on a sanding pad, second coat with a short pile roller and the finish could almost look like it was sprayed.
I feel like a lot of the bad reviews around this paint will be from improper preparation and application - no matter how good the paint is, it will always fail if this isn’t done correctly.
Obviously time will tell if the paint is as durable as it says it is but for now I would highly recommend it as a very viable alternative to the ridiculously priced other paint brands out there.

"Very thin consistency FLAKES OFF ,!…"
Silk acrylic for wood and metal
This paint is very thin and has the consistently of milk. On pre painted surfaces (sanded and delete greased) would need several coats to give a solid white. Biggest problem is that it flakes off at the slightest touch

"May as well have painted with milk"
Unfortunately I bought 20 Litres of Valspar White Emulsion to paint throughout a property. I may as well have bought 20 litres of milk. The one room that I've managed to 'Complete', I use the term loosely, took 6 coats before it looked reasonable. However, as per other reviews, it bubbles in areas and 'tears' before peeling. I've tried it on wallpaper and plaster with similar results. Also applied it with a pad and roller - plus a brush to touch up the bits that have peeled. I made the mistake of using a damp sponge to clean a doorframe (Dulux Gloss) and it accidentally kissed the adjoining wall that had been painted two weeks ago (Valspar Emulsion). You guessed it, it brought the emulsion off the wall, so there's now a 'shadow' that needs touching up. Just for the devil of it I gently ran my hand along the wall and my hand came away looking like I'd just rubbed it with talc.
