"Avoid this paint, worst I have ever used in 45 years"

Bought a 2.5 litre tin in B&Q Swords (Ireland) to highlight two small walls (8sqm). It was expensive comparatively to other paints I have used. I applied a first coat yesterday and it hardly made an impression. I had a bad feeling about it. I applied a 2nd coat today, it is absolutely the worst paint I have ever used in 45 years of painting. Blotchy, dark and light patches everwhere, bubbles, previous coat showing through and terrible finished texture.
I had painted the other walls in the hall, stairs and landing (90 sqm) effortlessly with a Dulux Heritage paint.
I use only the best quality brushes and rollers and am a meticulous, experienced painter.
I cannot stress enough to anyone reading. Do not buy this paint.

Absolutely HATE the allegedly premium for wood and metal. I'm painting kitchen cabinets and the finish is crap. Goes on bad and after 3 coats STILL needs sanding down and painting again. Very labour intensive and nowhere near as good as dulux

"Awful quality paint"

Awful quality paint. Takes loads of coats and started peeling with an elastic-y texture.. would never use again. Had previously used Dulux on the rest of the house which was great but tried the premium valspar for the last room we were renovating and the difference in quality is obvious. Do not buy.

Awful this paint at all costs the quality is absolutely Disgraceful they should mot be allowed to sell this to the public.

I wish I could leave photos I’v had to sand it down and start again with Dulux NEVER AGAIN.

I have always used this paint but I am using again in 2025 and it’s totally different. I’m using a roller and the vinyl Matt. I cut in around the sides with a paint brush and when I roller in within minutes, it all rolls off leaving a nast texture. There is no working time. This is ironic because the overall paint takes for work dry! I’ve done so much painting in my life and this paint is now shocking. Avoid at all costs

"Worst paint we have ever bought!!"

I bought this Valspar paint from B&Q as it is advertised as hard wearing scuff and scratch resistant. It is advertised specifically for furniture/cupboards and hard wearing. This is a complete lie as my wife painted our kitchen cupboards with three coats. It chips and scuffs with any slight contact it is not hard wearing and is the worst paint we have ever bought! This was quite expensive at £42 for 2.5l so was really expecting quality paint do do what it actually said on the tin!

Worse paint I have ever used! It’s so watery and needs over 6 coats to get any kinda coverage. Total waste of time, your better of buying a proper paint not this joke paint that isn’t even cheap. Company has definitely cheapened to product to make more profits.

Great paint but the plastic tin they put the paint is awful and not practical to open. Nearly broken my nails. Take ages to open

"We loved the Devonshire Green and…"

We loved the Devonshire Green colour and bought the 5 litre size to start the project to check all good with colour choice and performance in use.

We have long experience of design and interior contracting and keen to find a regular standard for project works.

The paint seems to be thin, much thinner than competitive lines and rather patchy as it dries ( very slowly) and obviously we have to add multiple coats (3 so far , 4 in places ) which has used more paint and we are now short of paint to finish the room.

Disappointing as we’d used Valspar in the past with no issues.
Could be a rogue batch I guess but it seems to be a common problem looking at other reviews.

Oh well, we’ll have to look at other paint to complete the project in all rooms planned.

We do love the colour though…
