Valspar Paint

"We have painted some chests of drawers…"
We have painted some chests of drawers with Valspar paint for wood and metal. It's supposed to be very durable and anti scuff. We followed the instructions ( my husband is an experienced tradesperson) and took great care with the preparation. The paint has rendered our furniture useless. It comes off with just a touch. It is not robust whatsoever and we thought it lacked "something " when applying it. We are still trying to get some appropriate response from valspar after many emails. Very disappointing.
To update this review still further:
after further emailing valspar have told us the fault lies with the store we purchased the paint from and after making our own inquiries this appears not to be the case.
To update this review again it is being insisted that it is our fault the paint hasn't set properly. The paint has now had days and days to set but it's still as bad as ever. Only the price of the tin of paint will be awarded and nothing for the furniture it has ruined. A very disappointing outcome.
To update further 26th April we gave finally agreed to tge small amount of compensation offered. After agreeing via email we have been told to phone customer service. If only we could get through!? Always busy. Still no settlement as yet.

"Bought Valspar matt white emulsion from…"
Bought Valspar matt white emulsion from B & Q, one of the worst paints I've ever used. Despite mixing well the coverage was terrible. Again and again having to repaint the same area, it was like water. What a waste of money.

"👍🏼👍🏼 👍🏼👍🏼"
Recent went into B&Q to pick some GoodHome paint for the bedroom, we had decided on not spending too much but struggled to find the exat shade we were looking for. Then we came across the whole Valspar section but were vary due to the reviews we had read. We decided to take a leap of faith and went in for the Valspar classic in Marshmallow Coat. Lovely lady at B&Q mixed it up for us and we were on our way. It was quite easy to use and didn't even need a second coat, but we had some leftover so we ended up doing a second coat anyway. We are pretty content especially since it was our first time painting ourselves!

"Will never use Valspar paint again. Horrible paint, very hard to apply, very poor finish."
Shocking paint and by far the worst I've ever used (and I’ve used a lot!). Spent weeks building a media wall. I meticulously prepped the surface for the top coat and was very happy with the finish.
Unfortunately, B&Q but only had a limited range of colours in the larger tins of wood and metal paint. Although expensive, we felt the mixing service was our only choice especially given the large range of colours. The guy at the mixing counter asked us a few questions – for example, did we have dogs? What was the media wall made from? He recommended the Valspar Premium Wood & Metal in eggshell. So far, so good. I couldn’t wait to put the top coat on the media wall.
After reading the instructions on the tin, I mixed... and mixed and mixed. Spent ages mixing as there were thick lumps stuck to the bottom of the tin – never experienced this with other paints. Think Yorkshire pudding mixture made with cornflour that’s been left too long. I literally had to keep scraping the lumpy paint off the bottom of the can. It probably hadn’t been mixed properly in the store – it took about 40 seconds which seemed too quick.
B&Q’s website states - “Why Valspar? Our paint promises ensure Valspar gives you a top-quality finish with minimum time and effort, so you can colour with confidence every time”. This is false advertisement. It took MAXIMUM effort to apply. Tried different rollers as well as a paint brush to no avail. After numerous attempts, I gave up. As for the finish, it was never going to be acceptable; it was horrendous. The section of media wall looked terrible. I felt that all of my hard work had been ruined. I spent 3 hours sanding the Valspar paint off. In all honestly, I’d have been better having the primer as the top coat, it looked 100% better than the Valspar. In fact, Yorkshire pudding mixture made with cornflour would have been better.
The Valspar paint was a complete waste of money and a waste of my time. Wasted many hours sanding the Valspar off, and applying another two coats of primer (sanding between) to prepare it for a replacement paint. Plus, another visit to B&Q to select a different paint brand and extra rollers.
Happy to say, that after using Lick paint, I now have a beautiful media wall! What a contrast. The replacement paint from Lick was exactly as Valspar’s description on B&Q’s website... it definitely gave ‘a top-quality finish with minimum time and effort’. Thank you Lick for being everything that Valspar isn’t.

"Yet another problem with Valspar paint"
Yet another problem with Valspar paint. I recently complained about an issue that cost me a lot of money.
I am a professional painter and decorator with over 25yrs experience.
My first complaint was an issue I had never experienced in my career before. And of course, Valspar claimed it wasn't any fault of their own.
This complaint is caused by my very next job. A job in which I had sadly already bought the paint for.
Cut a long story short.....turns out Valspar have two coloured paints with the same name.
Imagine my surprise when the cream coloured paint the client wanted, turned out to be a shade of blue.
Costing me time and money yet again. Not to mention frustration.
To date, valspar has cost me 2.5k this year.
And yes, you guessed it.....they had a reason as to how it wasn't the companies fault. Amazing how this is always the case.
In the jobs since, I have not used Valspar due to the company, it's customer service and how they treat loyal customers.
I have since spent nearly as much with other paint manufacturers and will continue to do so, costing Valspar more money than i asked for to compensate me.
Be careful when using this company and it's products.

"Nice colour match but a bit pricey…"
Nice colour match and was easy enough to apply. Applied two coats of a sage green colour onto white walls. Even finish and colour looks great.
Only real downside is that it’s a bit on the pricey side and only needed about 1.5l. Would be good if smaller tins were purchasable for smaller applications.

"Peinture "Valspar pro satin antirouille : catastrophique…"
Peinture "Valspar pro satin antirouille sur fer" chez Brico-dépôt : ne couvre pas du tout, laisse des traînées avec un très bon pinceau, ne se tire pas du tout mais sèche beaucoup trop vite en boulochant : catastrophique à 50 € le pot d'un litre !!! Produit acheté en France, mais le fabricant ne daigne pas répondre à mon avis en français ni transmettre à son diffuseur français !!!

"I so wish I had checked the reviews"
I so wish I had checked the reviews, quite frankly the most expensive and worst paint I've ever used. This paint literally wipes straight off the wall and I've tried it on top of basecoat, undercoat, you name it. Ive now got the unenviable task of washing off as much as i can and reverting to dulux, which is what i should have used in the first place. Wish me luck and don't waste your money.

"This paint is not wipeable"
I had 2 lots of Valspar Premium walls and ceilings Matt paints colour matched to F&B by my local B&Q recently. This is marketed as being washable, even scrubbable...The colour match was good and the application easy and seemed to cover the walls well.
But, due to having clumsy children, I have needed to wipe away some dirty finger marks in two separate areas, using only water and a clean cloth, and it has left what I can only describe as a wet mark where it was wiped (it is not wet), it looks as though it has wiped some of the paint away. This is very disappointing, as it is meant to be much more durable than this, I am now going to have to repaint the walls to cover up the marks left by wiping.

"By far the worst paint ever used"
By far the worst paint ever used. The coverage is awful, had to use a full tin of paint and 3 layers for a feature wall. Then the paint started to peel away immediately leaving big gaps meaning that I’m probably going to have to either strip it all or go over it all over again at the risk of more paint lifting. Cannot recommend it at all.
