Valspar Paint

"Valspar premium kitchen and bathroom paint absolute rubbish"
I was recently persuaded by an in store B&Q/Valspar rep to buy their premium kitchen and bathroom paint and told it was better than dulux. Having spent thousands of pounds on a complete en suite refurb I just needed the room decorated. I employed a professional decorator to do this, I provided the coloured paint from Valspar for the walls. After completion of the decorating I had a shower more than 24 hours later to be faced afterwards with sticky shiny drips all down the walls. I complained to B&Q who, free of charge, replaced the paint with another one from another batch, paid decorator to come back and do another coat with new paint but same thing happened, shiny, sticky, permanent drips all down my walls which get worse with every shower. Was told by B&Q to contact Valspar customer services direct which I did. Sent email with photos etc but so far no response. The whole room has been ruined by this paint. I notice from reviews that I am not the only person with this problem of shiny permanent drips, and I want this rectified by Valspar. Valspar customer services, get your act together and do something about this and at least reply to my email and complaint. Coverage is also very poor and tins almost impossible to open but for those who dont know they sell a special tool for this which you have to puchase (what a surprise) Shocking paint, shocking customer services, trading standards, get involved.

"5 coats and still patchy "
Bought valspar premium paint and had it mixed in B&Q in the colour portrait of a blue stocking which is a very dark blue, currently having it applied by a professional painter and decorator and 5 coats later over a plain white wall it is still ridiculously patchy.

"Just bought some premier exterior…"
Just bought some premier exterior masonry paint from B&Q, after third coat of this very watery paint, its still not covering. Have used valspar in the past and never had an issue, but this was years ago, the main disappointment, is you can feel crud on the bottom of the bucket as trying to stir it. Awful

"Premium kitchen and bathroom matt paint…"
Premium kitchen and bathroom matt paint just awful. Has had 4 coats and still patchy. Worst paint I have ever used and most expensive. Started to wonder if it had been mixed right but now I’ve read the other reviews…

"Poor quality Valspar Exterior stain"
Valspar Exterior Fence Stain. I paid to have appr. 300' of fence pressure washed and prepped and used Valspar Exterior Stain. It started fading in spots all over, not peeling in less than a year. It shows a 10-year warranty on the can. I filed a claim and they are refunding the cost of the paint only. I believe they should compensate me for the labor I am going to have to pay again to do it with a better quality stain. Their response was, it is on the can that they will only cover the cost of the stain. So, I paid $400 to have the fence properly prepped and their stain failed. Now I have to do it again. That is unacceptable. They replied 5/7 and said they would reach out to discuss it. No call or email as of 5/17

"Used Valspar kitchen paint"
Used Valspar kitchen paint. First removing the lid was difficult, had to use 2 screwdrivers to lever the lid off the container.
The paint does not give an even finish and like others I had to apply 5 coats before it looked any good. Total rubbish & expensive. Use Dulux and avoid this garbage.

"Very disappointed with the Valspar…"
Very disappointed with the Valspar gloss paint we had specifically mixed up at B & Q with the colour of our choice. We hired a professional decorator last year to apply it throughout the house to our woodwork after meticulous preparation on his part. Perfect colour when it was first completed complimenting the valspar soft sheen emulsion he applied to the walls . However in less than a year the gloss has lifted and peeled in so many places it looks dreadful and if you rub your hand along the woodwork you can literally scrape it off with hardly any pressure from your fingers. Not only that it never had a fresh new paint smell when it was being used …..almost a sour rag odour was present around the home. Will never use or recommend valspar gloss again…… a big mistake and a huge waste of money for us! Credit where credit is due though the valspar emulsion still looks great and the colour is very rich and covered well.

"Good for garden sheds"
This paint is ok for garden structures and such but as a decent paint for indoors it is no better than Dulux so walk away and buy Johnstones trade from a trade centre.

"Average paint, poor tin"
Ive bought two different scrubable mixes, while the paint is just OK, the container, I cant say tin, was plastic and once opened a couple of times all but impossible to close, I have twice had to resort to pouring the remainder into a jar.
