"The worst paint I’ve ever used"

The guy in B&Q said this classic matte paint was better than another popular brand. How foolish was I to believe this. This is truly the worst paint I’ve ever used. It is awful to paint with, even after prepping the walls and using a decent roller. It is patchy all over, despite several coats being applied (5 coats in some areas). This was a complete waste of £60 for 2 x 2.5l tins. Won’t be using this again.

We were worried about this paint with the negative reviews. We can’t understand why. We are really pleased with the results and quality of the paint. Only needed 2 coats, which is expected. Either the people complaining are really bad at painting or out for a freebie 🙄

"Shocked at the poor quality "

Purchased Valspar kitchen and bathroom paint on a recommendation from a friend for our bathroom. Our bathroom was supposed to be have been completed in January, however not a day goes by whereby we are without a new chip or new water streak on the wall. This paint comes off even if you breathe on it too hard. Also with all of the water streaks the walls look like they are melting. I am honestly at breaking point with this paint and won’t even consider looking at a tin of Valspar paint in the future.

"Positive Experience "

I was very apprehensive about trying valspar after reading some of the reviews, but we had little option given the colour we wanted and our proximity to paint suppliers.
We used the Matt emulsion in shade Roman Serenade to paint a room which was previously a taupe colour. The paint was very easy to work with and we were surprised with how good the coverage was after just one coat. We ended up doing two coats because we bought 5L of paint.

We were very happy with the end result and will certainly use valspar again. I felt compelled to leave a positive review seeing as we were nearly put off by the volume of negative reviews.

"Easy to navigate and order colour…"

Easy to navigate and order colour chips, however there weren't enough colour chips available. So difficult to guess what colour could be from computer screen. Colour chips made it better.

"Dreadful, Dreadful paint!"

We bought the premium MATT paint in a dark colour for a feature wall. It was awful to apply but also it has a sheen. Matt paint should surely be that - MATT!!!!
I will never ever again use Valspar paint when there are so many better alternatives on the market.

"Appaling paint - waste of my time and money"

Appaling paint! We bought Valspar Premium for Wood and Metal (advertised as hard wearing) to paint our hall skirting boards and banisters. We sanded the wood prior to painting and although painting over white paint had to apply a minimum of 3 coats (sometimes more) to get an even colour. It is as if the paint never properly dries and we keep discovering places where it has peeled off. I am going to have to resort to sanding down and starting again with another manufacturer's paint. I would not recommend this paint at all.

"Have spent hours prepping and painting…"

Have spent hours prepping and painting bathroom cupboards with satin premium wood and metal paint that cost £30 a litre. Great colour, and coverage was fine, but it scrapes or flakes off at the slightest touch. Utterly impractical. Misleading claim that has 'excellent scuff resistance' and 'stands up to anything' - other than daily use it seems. Frustrated and disappointed. Will not buy again.

"Not moisture resistant or scrubbable"

We purchased Valspar Premium Kitchen & Bathroom as recommended by the staff in B&Q as the best bathroom paint, they have. We were told it was mould/moisture resistant and you could scrub it when marked. It went on well and we were pleased with the colour but the very first time we used the bath it left shiny water marks running down the wall, so much for it being moisture resistant. I tried to scrub them, and it left scrub marks on the wall, the paint literally comes off on the cloth, so much for it being scrubbable.
It is by far the worse bathroom paint I've ever used, and I regret going with the advice given by B&Q, wish I'd used something different.

"Honestly it’s great paint (if you know what you’re doing) "

Honestly, I’ve done a lot of painting and used a number of brands. I honestly don’t understand the negative reviews. I can only assume that these are down to poor surface prep over and above the paint itself. Used V&CO paint mixed to match a farrow and ball colour. The paint is workable (for matt style) and lays great with an even finish. It does not require multiple coats either. Highly impressed.
