"I’ve just placed an order for Valspar…"

I’ve just placed an order for Valspar Thames Fog emulsion and was very excited to put this lovely colour on my living room wall this weekend, however, having just checked the reviews I won’t be bothering, I will return it. I don’t want the hassle! I’ll pick a similar colour from a different brand!

"Big NoTo Valspar "

I have employed a professional painter to decorate 2 rooms, a bathroom and a dressing room. He is using Valspar kitchen and bathroom and Valspar premium emulsion for the dressing room. He is now on his 3rd coat covering pastel coloured walls in both rooms and they are both still patchy. He is now going to have to come back tomorrow, at the cost of another £150 to add even more coats in the hope that he can achieve an even finish. He has told me he that he will no longer be recommending Valspar to any of  his customers. I will also be telling friends and family to steer clear of this overpriced poor quality paint.

"I’m feeling very disappointed"

I’m feeling very disappointed! I’m painting white on white and Valspar is beyond awful to put on I think it will need two coats of white paint how?! I’ve stopped decorating to write this it’s that bad I needed to see if anyone else thought the same. I usually love painting but not today feel very very annoyed with this paint I will not buy it again. It’s gone on so patchy it’s dreadful then I’ve tried rolling it it’s just spreading the patchiness.

"Shockingly bad"

Shockingly bad. I think paint would have been better! I used the Premium Valspar kitchen and Bathroom paint. It claims to be moisture resistant. Every time we shower the water poors down the walls. The room has brand new extraction and 2 radiators. The old bathroom was previously painted in dulux with no ventilation and did not do this. The new bathroom was painted as instructed. 2 coats, a light sand between and was left to dry for over 2 weeks when the floor/ wall tiles and fixtures were being installed. Valspar are claiming surfactant leaching. This is a different issue to that of this poor quality paint. The fact is that despite being cleaned over 3 times over several weeks the paint absorbs moisture and stains. Oscar and Alex from Custimer support have already fobbed me of and Mary the Valspar team manager has advised "a new paint job would also be a good alternative if the issue is indeed extensive." Yes your right I think Dulux will sort this. They need to stop lieing to consumers and remove the product from the market. SHOCKING SERVICE! DO NOT USE

"Warning to all decorators/customers.Update "

We purchased 5 litres of mixed Copenhagen Harbour (R229A) Valspar paint at B&Q. It wasn't cheap, advertised as premium and was over £50 for the paint. Our builder noticed it was very patchy and bought this to our attention. Then to our horror in front of our eyes he started peeling off the paint as if it was a cheap vinyl plastic. I couldn't stop my other half from crying as we were so disappointed with the paint. Our builder asked an expert friend of his in all things paint related, and he said that any of his direct customers that buy Valspar paint tells them not use it as it is very poor quality. We are absolutely fuming as our builder has wasted couple of days removing it from the walls at our cost. My other half is emailing B&Q and Valspar direct as I write this review. In summary, this is a warning to all perspective decorators/customers to avoid Valspar paint at all cost or suffer the consequences like we have.

Update 26/04/24
Valspar have been avoiding at all cost giving us a refund (ref 9636002) and keep offering a voucher for their products which we have no intention of ever using any of the Valspar products again. It really is like getting blood out of a stone. Reluctantly and regretfully, we're going to have to go to the UK press and other social media platforms now as we have exhausted all other options. It is a shame because all of their customer service staff seem really nice people, obviously it's their bosses pulling the strings.

"Really disappointed and wish I’d never…"

Really disappointed and wish I’d never bought this paint. The colour was much brighter than the test card. We were assured that it would look fine when painted and also that we could exchange if unhappy. Both were untrue as the colour was far too bright and the guarantee does not apply to wood paint. The coverage described as ‘fantastic’ was terrible. I truly wish I’d bought another paint. Nothing but hassle with this.

"I wish I’d read these reviews first"

I wish I’d read these reviews first. I spent £30 on a tin of classic emulsion and it’s literally the worst paint I have ever used. My “feature” wall looks like a patchwork quilt! The coverage is so patchy I don’t know what I can do. I really really loved the colour but I can’t leave it like this. Three coats in and I’m contemplating starting again. But not with this brand.

"Feel short changed."

Used premium Sculpting Grey no.R74C for small office very nice grey, good finish...bought more of the same for a feature wall this time went for the Classic which was cheaper, used the same sample card, only the paint colour was not the same shade. It was very much lighter, so much so it was only a little darker than the beige Gentle Lamb R81A colour sample I was painting over. Checked the sample but it wasn't a mistake although I used the same sample number.
I understand the tints can influence the price, but if there is a difference in Premium and Classic surely it should be referenced with a different sample card. I'm living with the colour not buying a new pot of paint. But will get my mixed else where in future.

"Bad all round"

An awful experience…

It took us about 15 minutes, cuts on both hands and a spillage to get the paint open. Aswell as this, we painted a wall and it was so patchy and impossible to get the same thickness of paint on the wall. Any attempt to blend with the roller just pulled the paint back off… trying to take it back tomorrow.
