Valspar Paint
Jonathan Sanders
"Truly awful paint"
Truly awful paint. Premium emulsion for bedrooms walls. It's incredibly thin and watery and the splatter is incredible - I probably lost a 3rd of it to that. It's impossible to get a good finish. When rollering it leaves different textures depending on how much paint is on the roller, so the colour looks different and patchy. And it marks incredibly easily. I normally use Johnstone's and this is absolute rubbish in comparison, and it's only just cheaper than their eggshell for walls, which is a comparable product. It's false economy using Valspar. In future I'll choose my colours at B&Q and get the local Johnstone's to mix it up for me.

"Worst paint ever!"
Worst paint ever! Patchy, on third coat and still looks as bad as the first. Robbed of £104. Avoid at all costs!

"Trying to cover up a light colour which…"
Trying to cover up a light colour which is currently on my walls (beige) with white valspar, says no splatter, I’m completely covered in “paint” I have put 3 coats on already, it’s patchy, the absolute worst coverage, I’m fuming, I’ve used half a 10l tub to try and paint a 10x10 room, now I’m going to have to waste more time and money going back to the shop to buy paint that actually “paints” wish I had read reviews before

"I spent £26 pounds on a mixed colour of…"
I spent £26 pounds on a mixed colour of Valspar satin wood and metal paint. This paint has gone over washed and sanded wooden doors. It just wipes off with a damp cloth and has no durability at all.
What is the point of making paints that can be wiped off of a surface months after they are applied?
I think this paint is total rubbish and I will certainly never waste my money on this brand again.

"Absolutely awful"
Absolutely awful. I colour drenched my small downstairs loo in a very dark grey. I noticed that, if you even as much as rub past it, it marks. I scratched a bit with my finger to see how durable it was and it just came right off, exposing the white underneath.
I got a damp cloth to wipe it and it just came off on the cloth.
£40 for something that was meant to be tough and scrubbable. What a load of lies.
Absolutely fuming. 😡

"Disappointing "
Fantastic colours and durability but the application process is sub par. After being told only 1-2 coats are needed we’re currently on coat 5 (of a very bright colour) and our walls still look patchy. Very disappointing. If I’d have known sooner I wouldn’t have considered buying the paint.

"Poor product "
Well never thought I would review emulsion paint 8 months after I have decorated, but feel I must let everyone know my experience, so used a light green on my walls in lounge, applied 3 coats and walls looked amazing, But after about 6 months wall were looking blotchy a green blue colour! And it’s steadily getting worse, now I have no choice than to paint again, pain because furniture and carpet is all new, never will i buy this again, by the way I am 60 years old and painted and decorated most of my life, so to have a person at B&Q say I probably didn’t stir it enough is a bit of an insult!

"Poorly designed packaging"
I can’t comment on the quality of the paint as yet, because I haven’t been able to get the lid off the tub. Whoever designed these tubs should be fired. I feel like I’m likely to spill half the tub just trying to get the lid off.
If you have any kind of illness or injury that affects your hand grip strength, steer clear of buying any of their products that come in a plastic tub.

"What a waste of time and money"
What a waste of time and money. One of the worst decisions of my life to use this product. It was like painting with semi skimmed milk. Even after good preparation and 3 coats the finish still looks worse than mediocre. I have a full 10 litre tub left and I daren’t even give it away through fear of retribution. Please please please do not use this rubbish.

"With summer just around the corner"
With summer just around the corner, we decided to spice up our living room ready for having family over from abroad, just spent a day trying to get this "premium paint" to look halfway acceptable, it really has let us down and with it being a deep red colour there is no going back, honestly don't be fooled by B&Q staff who say this is exactly what you need, disappointed is not even close to how we feel currently.
Never again Velspar ! With poor quality and an expensive price tag in a cost of living crisis shame on you !
