"8 nonfunctional cameras"
I ordered 3 security cameras from Abode. Only two functioned out of the box, then those two eventually stopped working for seemingly no reason. After eventually going through a total of 8(!) cameras over a couple weeks that all failed I requested a refund, only to be told I could only request a refund within 30 days of the original purchase, despite being strung along with a series of non-functional cameras. To be clear on if this was user error, each camera failed in different ways, and guided troubleshooting from the support team did nothing.

"Don't expect to get your money back without follow up!"
Don't expect to get your money back unless you follow up and ask for it!! I've had two frustrating experiences with Abode's return process.
The first was when I returned a horribly malfunctioning door lock. The second was when I accidentally purchased items I didn’t end up needing. Both times, a month after sending the items back, I still didn't have my money refunded. When I contacted customer service, they confirmed that the item had arrived at their facility but wouldn’t process the refund until it was found in their warehouse which took a few days to locate. Even after locating it, additional approval was needed before my refund was issued.
I was charged for return shipping, and when I requested a refund for the shipping fee due to the inconvenience, I was told that it’s their policy to charge for shipping and they wouldn't refund no matter the situation.
We inherited the Abode system when we bought our house and were considering upgrading our Swann security camera system to theirs. However, based on these return experiences, we’ve decided to look elsewhere and will most likely replace the Abode door and window sensors with a new system.
Moral of the story: 100% expect not to get your money back unless you follow up and ask for it.

"Raised my subscription by 25% and ignore cancaltion request"
Technical issues to this day, for the past 10 years, raised my subscription by 25% (used to be free), and now they ignore my cancellation request email.
Their business address is a UPS mail box.
You do the math.
UPDATE 02/25/25: they now offered to cancel and refund, which I accepted. Review adjusted from 1 to 2 stars.

"Terrible experience"
Terrible experience, cancellation fees were HUGE! not to mention the cost for subscription. It took out nearly $300 NZD for cancellation fees when I had cancelled prior to the free trial.

"4 years and regret buying Abode"
I've had Abode's system for 4 years+ now. It's been a... frustrating experience, first with stopping their temporary security plans, but their integration with Apple Home is clunky at best. Every time we have a power outage I have to reset the entire system, and go through rounds of customer support to have my hub reset (otherwise it won't re-pair with Apple).
I recommend going with another brand such as SimpliSafe if you're considering a security system for your home. Abode has left me hanging and doesn't support their products very well once you're invested in one of their systems.

"Ok but wish I went with something else "
I don't really like it. It works but not seamlessly. The app is still issued when you select certain features, like automation. I have reported and been througb trouble shooting but it still does it. I returned all the cameras because they were not quality and kept disconnecting. And I can't sync it with my smart watch which is annoying. It has the options but does nothing when I select it. It just doesn't seem like they have all their issues worked out. I just don't really like it. I will keep it for now but will look for something else later.

"Shocking sales service"
I am trying to buy abode creative cloud for education. I have called and spoke to 4 different people who keep telling me they will get back to me with options and pricing. Each time I reply to them they ignore me. 2 months on and I still have’t managed to purchase the licences I need as I can’t do this myself online as they don’t let you. Seriously team Abode, do you not want our money? Rubbish sales team
