Scottish Boiler Care

"Unprofessional service"
Unprofessional service. Left with water coming through the the ceiling from a leaking radiator valve- this was after the third visit. On the fourth visit nothing was done. On the fifth visit I was left with water leaking from a different valve and was treated poorly and unprofessionally. I will be changing my policy cover to a more reputable company.

"Absolutely appalling service if I could…"
Absolutely appalling service if I could give minus stars I would. I have been trying since September to arrange my annual service. I have called numerous times and given the following 1. I would be contacted within 2 weeks (never happened) 2. Was told I was I was in a queue and would be contacted (never happened) 3. Was told Id be contacted next week (never happened) I finally called again on the 7th December and was told they were not doing services they were only dealing with emergencies, however I told them I had a contract with them and they were legally bound to service my boiler to which the man replied that I would be stopping some poor person with no heating from getting their heating fixed. I aid that this was not my problem it was their responsibility to have enough engineers to do both and it was not my fault my service is overdue I then said if I didn't get a date I would be contacting Trading Standards to report the company and get advice. very grudgingly I was given and appointment for today 19/12/23 - but no-one turned up I telephoned around 1.40 to ask if I could have an approximate time and the agent told me she would contact the engineer and he would call me (never happened) I called again at approx. 4.20 and again was told she would contact the engineer (never happened) so am cancelling all connection with this company and have written to them telling them to delete all my information from their system/files and I am going to contact Trading Standards and Citizens Advice to lodge a complaint and the complete lack of service and breaking the agreement. Please Anyone thinking of using this company DON'T they are the worst company I have ever dealt with, I have been with them since they were FEP and considered myself a loyal customer but no more and Trust Pilot you should also delete this company from your list of companies

"Stay clear of this company"
I have been with this company for 25 years when it was FEP it is merely trading under a different name. Since it has changed the service is non-existent. My boiler was last serviced in June 2022. It is a yearly contract so this is now December 2023 and my boiler has not had its annual service.
I phoned them on 06.09.2023 to be told they were a bit behind to give them couple of weeks and call back. Called again on 13.11.2023 they said oh leave it with us we'll call you back. No call back. I called them again they gave me 6 December 2023 for engineer to come stayed in all day although it was to be between 9.00am and 1.00pm never arrived. I did have a few irate calls with them in between because they couldn't care less all to no avail. They then rescheduled and gave me 18 December between 10.00am and 2.00pm they did not turn up again. I phoned them twice and no help was given was even told you can go out if you like and I will reschedule. I said I've no intention of going out I want this boiler serviced. Needless to say the engineer never called.
This is a shocking way to conduct a business and I'll be taking this further.

"I have been with this company since it…changed from F.E.P"
I have been with this company since it was F.E.P. and I had no complaints with them. They always sent notification of annual service, engineers were efficient etc. I've actually never had any problems with the engineers it is the office that is the problem. I changed to them because of problems with Scottish Gas. Since they changed to Scottish boiler care, I was told by an engineer that it was the same company under a different banner, they have gone progressively downhill. Most recently I have been getting messed about trying to get a repair done. Two of my radiators need new valves and I suggested that instead of them supplying and fitting two standard valves that I supply seven thermostatic valves and they replace all the old standard valves so there would be no cost to themselves. They agreed but now say that the didn't. The appointment was arranged but then they cancelled due to sickness. They never got in touch to rearrange so when I contacted them they said they were busy with emergencies but would contact to rearrange. Needless to say they never. I contacted them again and an appointment and it was arranged for 14/12/23. I waited in but when I eventually phoned them to see when the engineer was calling I was told the job was in for 21/12/23. Now I wrote the appointment time down when I was on the phone so I don't know how they screwed it up. The 21st wasn't suitable but they couldn't offer an alternative before then so the earliest they can do the job is 09/01/24 but they insist that they are only replacing 2 of the valves. I certainly will not be renewing my contract. They recently went into receivership but were taken over again. You'd think they would learn from past mistakes. Beware.

"Abominable service"
Abominable service. My elderly mother has been waiting a fortnight for her boiler to be fixed. Engineer took a week to appear, ordered a part, waited another week to return to fix it. Replaced the part, left without checking it was ok, it wasn’t! My mum called back, to be told they didn’t have an engineer and they would need to call her back. I might add, they NEVER call back, EVER, she had to keep calling. She’s came back from a week away, heating still not working, to call them yet again, to be told, we’ll call you back! Definitely a pattern forming here? My mum who I might add is 86 yrs old, has called twice today. I’ve now called and spoke to a girl, I won’t call her an adviser, as she couldn’t advise or understand the meaning of an update! So she’s now told me, that they don’t have an engineer to send out, she doesn’t know when they will have one and if I want to complain I need to email management?! I’m sure the chances of me getting an answer to my email are as likely as my mother getting a call back? So I now need to drive to the other side of glasgow to get my mum, as her house is freezing and god only knows when, or IF we will ever get an engineer visit! AVOID AT ALL COST, THEY ARE COWBOYS!

"Appaling service"
Appaling service. They never carry out or contact you regarding your annual service. They cleared their backlog of overdue servicing by writing to you claiming that they had tried numerous times to contact you by phone, email and SMS but could not. Therefore, they were not going to carry out your annual service. I am very diligent in monitoring all my means of communication and am confident that no such attempts had been made to contact me. It seems that when you phone them you are talking to someone working from home and, if it is a problem that they haven't got the relevant information on they are unable to transfer your call to a relevant department instead they give you another number to call and you have to go through all the long preamble over again. Domestic & General plc which operates the Boiler Cover on behalf of Scottish Power provides insurance service cover for numerous domestic appliances including, boilers, fridges & freezers, televisions etc. After I negotiated a reduced annual service charge following 15+ years of subscribing to Scottish Power Boiler Cover it was very arduous to stop them from taking two direct debits every month from my bank account. I have now happily moved on.

"Avoid like the plague"
Avoid like the plague. Vile company that doesn't provide a service. My 78 year old mother has dementia and has been stuck in the house waiting on an engineer to come on three different days. Engineer never arrives and there isn't even a call to let you know. They're aware She has dementia but don't care. She called today to say she was going to cancel the policy and she was threatened with the sheriff court if she didn't pay. We're going to citizens advice and raising a case at the small claims court as they've taken the money but are refusing to provide any kind of service.
Their website has disappeared and when you look into them the company director seems to set up businesses and let's them fold.
AVOID
I'd give zero stars of I could. Despicable people.

"SBC bankrupt!"
We've been trying since June to get our annual service. We had a problem with pressure loss & also fluctuating temperature when trying to get a shower.
An engineer came out & checked the heat exchanger & said he'd fixed the problem, but pressure still kept dropping & water temp. was still too low. We were told that boiler couldn't be serviced until problem was fixed. Eventually they arranged for a Viessman engineer to look at our boiler. He replaced the heat exchanger and the temperature sensor & that solved our problem. He told us off the record that our warranty had expired because it was over 12 months since our last service. We sent a recorded delivery letter to their office, telling them that they were in breach of contract & giving them 2 weeks to do our service. No reply so we cancelled our direct debit. I looked on Google today & found that SBC had applied in June for liquidation, & in September their office address was changed. We have asked a local engineer to service our boiler. Why did SBC not inform us that they'd gone out of business?

"Unsatisfactory service"
4 and a half weeks without a fully functioning boiler. Sometimes no heating sometimes no hot water sometimes neither. Parts took a week to deliver every time. Rarely phoned back when said they would. I have had to pay to cancel my contract.

"Domestic and General and their NUTS"
I telephoned Scottish Power and the call was transferred to Domestic and General, their underwriters. There was a water leak from the radiator joint which I explained to the girl in their call centre somewhere abroad. The water was sipping from the radiator pipe from the upper floor onto the ceiling above the main lounge.
The combination boiler stopped working due to the leak. The call centre girl offered an appointment for the following day. I explained to the girl that someone has to attend immediately as the leak in 24 hours slot will cause an enormous water damage to the building and the contents into thousands of pounds.
The call centre employees working abroad would not understand the situation I was implying.
They were helpless. I cancelled the following day appointment and called someone who came almost immediately due to the nature of the situation.
The radiator repair took a few minutes to rectify, dried the ceiling below, used a primer coat and a brush of paint, He was at the property for nearly 45 minutes including a cup of tea.
I personally filled the boiler that took no more than 5 minutes. I am a cancer patient but managed well.
I told the call centre girl to lodge a complaint on my behalf.
I have received a shocking letter from someone at Domestic and General that a full investigation took place and the complaint. “ The letter State your complaint is being upheld”. Attached were some leaflets about financial ombudsman service for me to waste more time.
No wonder these companies are going under because of the resources they use.
These companies like domestic and general and Scottish power needs a few competent employees working from their heart, a few complainants, less workers sitting at the desk sending pre printed letters about upheld complaints.
These companies need restructuring, getting rid of incompetent guys like the one sent me a letter, organise from the bottom to the top.
The company has completely misunderstood my needs, they wrote the complaint and they upheld the complaint. Where is the management???
You hear a message that they have been established for a century. I have known companies established for a far longer than D&G who have gone bankrupt. It could be you next, Domestic and General.
Do not be proud of the length of your establishment, learn from your own experience and an enormous mistakes.
