Terrible Experience – Unsafe, Faulty Scooter and Awful Customer Service
I recently had the misfortune of using one of Beryl's scooters, and I can't express enough how unsafe and frustrating the experience was. The scooter I rented kept malfunctioning, with the power cutting out repeatedly during my ride. It was raining, I was in a remote area, and there was no option to safely switch to another scooter. Not only did this create a dangerous situation, but it also made for an incredibly uncomfortable ride.
When I contacted Beryl for a refund, I was met with a refusal, despite the fact that their faulty equipment was to blame. They hide behind their terms and conditions, essentially shifting the blame onto the customer for not stopping mid-ride to "find a bay." In what world is that a reasonable expectation when the vehicle they provided is malfunctioning in dangerous weather and terrain?
The response from their so-called "Customer Service & Operations Manager" was just as dismissive and unhelpful, essentially saying they don't care and refusing to take responsibility for their failure to provide a reliable service. It's clear from reading other reviews that I'm not alone in this experience.
If you're considering using Beryl, do yourself a favor and look elsewhere. They clearly can't maintain their vehicles, and their customer service is an absolute joke. Save your money and avoid this scam of a company.
Shame on Beryl for prioritising a few pounds over customer safety and satisfaction. I will be sharing my experience everywhere I can.
PS: Scott below is the exact useless manager that is doubling down on their attitude, as you can all see. I had trouble with the internet to do as they say, and every other time I used their services, half of the vehicles were low battery or broken, and the customer service is nothing but gaslighting and excuses, as you can see for yourself. AVOID AVOID AVOID.

Beryl are all really helpful - I use them all the time and they resolve disputes really quick. Over the past few months, I have spoken with Edgar, Veronica, Ana, Evan, Emilia, Elsa, Jacques, Scott, Shehwah, and Phoebe, and they are also super useful. Thank you to the whole team!

"Overall great! A few small bugs that need fixing "
In the past two weeks, I started using the bikes regularly. Most of the time they’re great, however on occasion the app will charge you £10 when you’ve locked the bike up properly. It’s a little frustrating as you have to contact the help centre each time but to their credit they respond within two minutes annd every time so far they have refunded the charge.
Just need the technology to work properly on the bikes and it would be perfect!
