I used a bike last night for the first time to get home from town, I noticed a couple of bays had appeared near my house, so thought I'd give it a go, not realising the bays and my area aren't in operation yet. Received a £25 charge for leaving the bike outside of the area. Had a quick live chat with Evan this morning explaining the situation, honest mistake etc and the charge was promptly refunded. Very happy and look forward to using the bikes more often when my area is in operation.

Reading similar reviews it’s nice to know I am not alone in feeling this way. The customer service manager, Scott, was condescending and argumentative during my chat log with him. I have used beryl for the past year, most of the bikes in the bay do not unlock properly so was no shock to me to discover my bike did not lock after my ride. This has happened a few times before and the agents have always been helpful and understanding and helped me to be refunded the charge of £10. This happened at 6am this morning and when I logged this via the live chat is stated the office was not open. I got on with my day at work and tried contacting Beryl again when I had finished. The customer service “manager” was extremely unhelpful, rude and sarcastic and demanded a video of the lock not working, I have never had this requested from previous customer service advisers so didn’t even realise I needed to do so, I was already at home. Apparently the chat is 24/7 but it wouldn't let me get help at 6am? I usually wouldn’t write a review but honestly I’m still gobsmacked this person is a manager of customer service. When stating I would like to complain about his service I was not offered a way to do so, simply to be told he was the manager, that does not give you a free pass to have been so rude. If Scott had conducted himself in a different way then the company may have been able to keep a loyal customer. Looking forward to Scott’s response to this and am interested to see if its as sarcastic and rude as the chat log was :)

The bikes themselves are really handy and cheap to use. I’ve had a couple of issues before, one in which a bike wouldn’t unlock even though I’d paid and one in which I’d received a £10 fine. I spoke to the customer support on both occasions and they were both fantastic; the issues were sorted quickly and the communication both times were excellent. Thank you to Evan and Ana!
