"Responsive and helpful."

Always a quick response, which is necessary if you’re commuting and have an issue. Always polite and friendly. I report individual machines that are not working, so we keep the network moving, & these are dealt with. Just need a little more consistency with availability in our area - the team do let the maintenance people know this, which is great. Spreading the word on Beryls cos we love them. Anything to lessen the number of cars in this area. Thank you. 😃👍💪

"Tried my first beryl rental today"

Tried my first beryl rental today. The unlocking worked ok. My absolute disappointment was how little it helped going up hill which was my main reason for trying an electric bike. On the level the electric assistance was good. But going uphill was just a really heavy bike with seemingly no electric assistance. Was surprised how quickly the cost built up. What would have been a £2 bus ride was a £4.45 beryl bike, as I was paying 15p per minute to have to get off and push the bike uphill. Will not be using again.

Do the developers at Beryl use the service? Ever?

Apart from the app being an absolute UX disaster, its functionality is also dire.

The single biggest problem is that you cannot tell which parking bays are full and therefore where you can leave your scooter, until AFTER you have paid to unlock and start your ride, Example - in Birmingham, if I'm tight for time, I'll take an escooter from New Street station to Snow Hill Stations on the other side of the city centre. I unlock the scooter, paying £1 to do so, only to find out that the parking place nearest the place I'm going is the one I'm actually standing in. What an absolute waste of time!!

If your developers used the service, they would know what the problems are. I've even had parking places that were available when I started my journey become available as I'm standing there ending my ride even with no one else arriving. This has happened a couple of times and both times I missed my train and had to wait an additional 2 hours. I contacted support who were utterly useless - I thought they might at least refund the cost of the ride which actually turned out to take longer than if I had just walked.

Why is this so difficult for these rental schemes to get right? The app though... you don't have to use every iphone UX component all at once you know.

The scooters themselves are quite poorly designed - particularly the indicators. In the UK we wear gloves in the winter and you can't actually feel the buttons to turn the indicators off and on, and once on, there is no way to know that they are on because there is no indication on the display and your forearms are in the way preventing you seeing the indicators at the end of the handlebars. Also, there is no hook to place a bag or shopping which is a huge oversight if these are supposed to be for commuters.

"Your bikes are being dumped all over…"

Your bikes are being dumped all over plymouth and yet you do not have a direct number to report it, there is one in the back ally where I live, yet the number that you give 02030035044 does not help, not in our area or any area. There should a seprate number in all areas so we do not have to look at your stupid bikes for months while the clutter up and rust.
