"I think it's a scam"

I think it's a scam. The bike never lock properly forcing people to contact support. They know a good percentage of people who have locked their bikes won't do this, and will suck up the fine.

Having unreliable technology turns out to be a business model!. Not for me any more. They should be called out.

"This company is a complete joke"

This company is a complete joke. If you have any other options to avoid using this service take them. Anything that could possibly be wrong with a bike service I’ve experienced whilst using Beryl bikes whether flat tyres, dead batteries, locks not working, the list goes on. Absolute scam.

"Charged Double"

Charged for about double the time I actually rode for. Got a message an hour and a half after ending my journey saying.... you have just ended your journey. After some Googling I found no info to help me. I would bet this is a common problem but no info to help, seems negligent.

"One of their bikes was abandoned…"

One of their bikes was abandoned outside my house in Cornwall. I had difficulty finding contact details and had to go through the council to find them. When I eventually rang I spike to Amelia who was very competent, she assured me it would be recovered on the same day. I then later spoke to Edgar as I was trying to understand how the bike scheme worked. He was helpful and informative thoufh a bit difficult to understand. I also spoke to another woman who was dire. She was incomprehensible and appeared to be doing something else in loud traffic. I did not get her name as when I asked for it she cut me off. The bike was recovered a few hours later. The guy who picked it up was friendly and infirmative too. Must say having read up on the charges I would not consider renting one. Whats even stranger is that these bikes are recovered on a daily basis, all over the place. What kind of lunatic rents a bike for a few hours abandons it and is then charged £80.

"Use them every day to and from work and…"

Use them every day to and from work and when they work they are great! I’d say 80% of the time. There seems to be an increasing instance of bikes not unlocking/locking properly, being so heavy as to be impossible to ride up hills, or clunky gears. Customer service always responds and helps quickly, but perhaps it’s time for a big servicing drive? This is in Brighton 🙏

"Concerns with Beryl Bike Service"

I'm writing to express my disappointment with Beryl's service due to never ending issues over the past year. I've been a loyal Beryl user since they launched in Birmingham, but recent experiences have been frustrating.

1. Unfair Parking Charges:

I've been charged £10 incorrectly for parking, even when I parked correctly. This happens almost every second ride, requiring me to contact support, explain the issue, and prove my right to get a refund. Just waste of time.

2. Lack of Updates on Docking Bays:

Recently, I found e-scooters instead of bikes at my usual parking spot near the shopping mall. I wasn’t sure if it still operates as usual parking bay, and it would take me too long to ride to another bay, so I left the bike there - as a result got charged £10 fee.

3. Unhelpful Customer Service:

When I sought help, the customer service agent was unhelpful and rude. They claimed it was my responsibility to check for new docking bay locations, refused to give a refund even though Beryl hadn't communicated these changes in any shape or form.

4. Pricing and Bike Availability Problems:

Beryl's pricing structure is confusing with short 30-day pass expirations. Also, normal bikes are rarely available, making it difficult for me to find one when I need it the most. E-bikes are almost never available in my area. The cost for your service is rising, but quality is downgrading.

5. Ignoring Feedback:

One of the most frustrating things happened to me yesterday. I tried to voice my concerns on Beryl's Instagram post and sent them a DM as well, but they blocked my account and didn't even bother to respond to my message.

From love to hate, disappointing.

"I'm really interested in the 600…"

I'm really interested in the 600 minutes commuter pass in Birmingham, but the unlock fee is ridiculous. I don't want to ride the normal bike as they are too heavy, but i want to use the E vehicles.

To use an ebike to get to work and back six days a week, would add an additional £48 a month to the £36 pass. The commuter pass would in effect cost £84pm, not to mention any extra charges that may occur.

This is ridiculous and bad management to have any unlock fees on these top end passes. Voi Escooter never had this when they were in Birmingham, and they even gave discounts and free helmets!

Rethink your sale strategy on these passes, because in the end its cheaper to get a bus.

"3 times the acceptable price!"

When Beryl came to Southampton last year, I started using them on the odd occasion. You got a good discount on the minutes bundle it was £5 for 100 mins. Was going to hire one tonight and found out the price had shot up to £16 plus unlock fees and you don't even make a saving by buying the minutes bundle! I read in another review it says now no unlock fees but it says on the app that's only for pedal bikes and e-bikes are charged separately. It's so much cheaper to use the bus, why would anyone even consider using you now?!
