"AVOID 50cycles Loughborough (Riese and Muller) still wanting 17/09"

I spent £4,000 on a bike in June, still waiting for a receipt. It was faulty. My other bike had a £90 service in June and was returned to me unroadworthy, I am still waiting for it to be sorted.I have never encountered such poor customer service. I last rang the Loughborough store a week ago, an American guy promised to get back to me but didn't. AVOID this branch customers are treated as a nuisance and it is impossible to get a response.
p.s I was told the cycle could not be discounted in the store, only to find it 10% cheaper on their website 2days later,DISGUSTING

"Great choice of bikes and very helpful."

Great choice of bikes and very helpful.

Rare to find a specialist company with such a wide choice of bikes, customer service is spot on and staff really helpful. If you are looking to buy an electric bike I would highly recommend this company.

"I like 50cycles"

I like 50cycles, they've been great to deal with at every stage. I used the chat window on the website to ask some initial questions about how far the bike would go on a charge and what size i'd probably need (I'm quite tall, over 6"). I narrowed it down to one of their Cube models and went along to their showroom in London, where a slightly smaller size was available to ride. So I took it out for a 20 minute ride, was well pleased, and ordered a 58cm (XL). It arrived a couple of days later in a big box. That was back in April or May and i've had a terrific few months exploring the hilly bits round my way.

They know what they're on about, they don't blind you with science and they look after you as a customer. They're well priced too. Yes, you can spend 4 or 5 grand on an electric bike but if you pick their brains they'll recommend a great one for half that price.

Particular thanks to Harry in their London showroom and Al who kept me up to date with delivery. Cheers 50cycles

"Dreadful.."

Dreadful... avoid them if you can. Battery packed up on my £2500 Kalkoff bicycle after only 500 miles, drove 130 miles to have it tested, place was deserted, eventually someone appeared, it was clear I was not welcome. Promised to test the battery and revert, however heard nothing. Impossible to speak to anyone, message left no call back. Buy from Halfords at least they have some regard for their customers.

"Electric motor problems on my Kalkhoff…"

Electric motor problems on my Kalkhoff e bike. It was just out of warranty and though I argued it had done very little mileage I had to pay a lot of money for it's replacement. I have since discovered on Pedelics blog that many more of these motors had been failing for other people who had bought these bikes from 50cycles.
Complete crap.

"Be Very Careful"

We visited 50 Cycles in Loughborough on Tuesday 10 July our way back from France having seen numerous E-Bikes in use and wanted some further information.
Assistant Sales Manager Mike was very knowledgeable and helpful so we decided to purchase two Haibike S Duro Cross bikes - one of which was in stock the other would come from the distributor within 2 days so both bikes would be delivered to us in York by Friday 13 July or possibly the following Tuesday. We duly paid just over £4000 and looked forward to the receiving our bikes.
Friday came and went with no communication so on Monday I emailed to enquire roughly what time on Tuesday we should expect delivery. There was no reply again, so I phoned several times, getting the answering service each time, with a promise that someone would phone me back - they never did. By 4:45 I tried the "do you want a call back in 27 seconds" phone number and got through to the Twickenham branch who could not help me but said they would contact Loughborough and get someone to call me. A technician did call back and said he did not know what was happening but would contact the Distributors to see why the missing bike had not turned up - but delivery to us would obviously not be made on Tuesday.
I made contact with Mike on Tuesday morning who said there was a problem getting the bike from the Distributors. However, 50 Cycles did have a slightly different model in stock which could be delivered to us - but we wanted the one we had chosen so declined this offer.
Through a different Haibike dealer we discovered that the Distributors did have stock of the bike we wanted and that they could have one delivered within a day, so they wondered why 50 Cycles had a problem getting one.
Many communications with 50 Cycles later, we found that the alternative bike that had been offered was actually the wrong size being too big, but another option came up which we decided to accept, not wanting to risk any further complications and having already given 50 Cycles over £4000. On Thursday therefore, we drove the 100 miles to Loughborough and collected the two bikes. Throughout this saga, Mike has been helpful in trying to come up with solutions to the difficulties and finally succeeded in providing two bikes, but we can't help wondering why the problem arose in the first place. So I would suggest being careful when dealing with 50 Cycles so that similar problems do not arise.

"Many thanks once again to all the team…Well done 50 cycles"

Many thanks once again to all the team at 50 cycles particularly Charles at the Shoreham branch, superb service as always from you and the rest of 50 cycles. I can’t recommend you strongly enough. I purchased my Kalkhoff pro connect just over 3 years ago and have done nearly 4 thousand miles on it. It has got me back on the road again enjoying life after a serious ankle operation. To anyone out there considering an e bike, just get one and don’t forget to purchase it from 50 cycles, their advice and back up are second to none. I ordered a new charger for mine and received next day delivery at no extra cost. WELL DONE! In this day and age it’s reassuring to see that there are still Companies and people who really care. Many thanks once again.

"We’ve had our Reise and Muller Roadster…"

We’ve had our Reise and Muller Roadster Mixte over a week now and it seems a fine machine. My wife is happy with it which is the important thing. What has not been so good, in fact has been bloody awful, was the process of acquiring the bike from Reise and Muller via the UK dealers 50Cycles. It was ordered on 15th December 2017 with a delivery date of 19th March 2018, already a very long delivery time for a standard catalogue item. However, that came and went without a word from 50Cycles (that was to become a pattern of this sale). When I chased them I was given a new delivery date, in fact I’ve been given many - 7th April, 24th April, 27th April , 14th May, all missed without any up front apology. It eventually turns up on 2nd June, the latest delay caused by the fact it arrived at the dealers with the wrong mudguards, something that they had the good sense to proactively address before delivering it to me.
Six months to get a bike delivered is outrageous. My mistake was paying up front for it to secure a small discount. Obviously once they had my money they didn’t care. I will not make that mistake again.
In the many, many conversations I’ve had with 50Cycles/R&M, I’ve struggled to get across what to me at least, are very fundamental points –
Don’t fail on a commitment made to a customer - but if unfortunately you are forced to, then proactively call them with an explanation and an apology – its called managing expectations.
The customer should never be put in the position of wasting hours chasing a supplier. For some reason 50Cycles/R&M did not seem to realise that my time had value to me and I didn’t want to waste it talking to them.
That being lied to is distressing. Even more so when this bike was actually meant as a present for my wife’s birthday in March and I was being put in the position of repeatedly disappointing her. Not a recipe for good relations.
So in summary, Reise and Muller – dreadful company, with some deep rooted customer management issues to resolve.

"So disappointed!"

So disappointed!! We wanted two electric bikes and we did some searching with other bike companies who were OK but non of them could give me information on the Kalkhoff bikes. A friend of mine insisted these are the best electric bikes and having tried theirs we were keen. We have bought two bikes worth £3000, not an everyday purchase for us but feel utterly disappointed and hope it will not turn out to be a mistake (My pedometer is already not working!) We were not given much of a choice to be honest. From sales to picking up the bikes today in two different stores the experience and has been very poor and not at all one I could recommend. I never write reviews but the service I have received from their head office and another branch in Shoreham has compelled me to warn others. DO NOT CONSIDER 50 CYCLES - find someone else who is keen to keep their clients happy and not just keen to take their money
