"To say that I am disgusted and…"
PLEASE CANCEL MY COVERAGE IMMEDIATELY
To say that I am disgusted and disappointed with APHW is an absolute understatement! We have been loyal customers for many years and have paid thousands of dollars into this home warranty company that is nothing but a scam! Today I had my built in double wall oven throw an error message and I was able to get a technician to come to my house and assess the repair. Received the diagnostics and after spending about 35 minutes on the phone was told by the APHW representative that I was eligible for $300 for my repair minus my $125 deductible. The repair estimate was $850. How is this a home warranty company? It’s an absolute racket and a complete waste of money. They need to be reported to the BBB and attorney general’s office in every state where they do business. Avoid this company for anything!

"Washer/Dryer Warranty Rip Off!!!"
My washing machine had to be repaired 6 months ago. APHW paid for the repair minus the deductible. Since that time, my dryer needed to be repaired and I was told I had a certain amount per item. That was clear, but they looked at the washer and the dryer as being one item, therefore, I only had $12.00 left on the dryer since the washing machine had been fixed. That is what I would be reimbursed to fix my dryer. A washer is a separate item, and a dryer is a separate item. They are not one item. It is a rip off pay for a warranty service and they declare a washer and dryer as one item! The language is not truthful. I am cancelling my policy with them as soon as I receive the $12.00's I'm owed!

"Total waste of money"
Would prefer to give a zero rating, which would match my ability to be covered by what needed repairs. My two attempts at a claim were immediately rejected as not covered by the warranty.
The warranty was purchased by the seller of my new home as a closing gift. At the time my realtor told me that the warranty was pretty much useless. She said that the marketing literature looks good, but the reality would be rejected claims and a pittance paid on those that were processed. Yesterday, for the second time, I called to tell her she was right.
Here on Trustpilot you can see examples of rejected claims that were now accepted when people complained publicly about them. Do you really want to partner with a company that you must shame to get what you paid for?
No response requested from APHW. I have had enough staff reading your warranty terms to me.

"It has been very time consuming to deal…"
It has been very time consuming to deal with them. My contractor and I had to have numerous phone calls with them.I just called again for update on my status. The response was "We have been trying to call you", but it is interesting that my cell phone shows no calls received lately from them. Next, I just don't understand why our a/c unit replacement is not being reimbursed at the maximum of $2,250. At a cost of over $16,000 dollars, we are not even getting the maximum amount allowed. We have been loyal APHW customers since 2016 and maintained our system with regular maintenance checkups.

"No transparency, it is a scam"
Today we had a contractor out to look at our dishwasher that went kaput for just being old, the control panel is not working. The parts are no longer available for the Frigidaire unit we have. The contractor said if the part was available he could replace it for 700~ as the parts aren't available. He told them our dishwasher was probably 7-10 years old.
APHW offered us $448 after our deductible of $50. I asked for how they arrived at the number since no part amount was available. They said they could not provide that information. As though the consumer is not entitled to question their methodology. What if she made a math error or a misunderstanding of fact? Like her assertion that my dishwasher was over 11 years old and that's why I was quoted a lower reimbursement.
I have no recourse to correct a figure that is just arbitrarily pulled from thin air? I was born in the morning but not this morning.
Eventually I was passed off to a Supervisor who double downed on the you aren't entitled to that info and stated it was proprietary information as she then offered me a dispute form. So they want me to dispute their computation without access to the computation. She did say that it was based on the age of my dishwasher and then said the unknown age of the appliance was irrelevant. That all dishwashers are limited to $423, and that the technician that helped me over reimbursed me at $498. I asked why model make and age matter if the built in dishwasher was limited to $423. No good answer. Repeat of this is all I can give you. Also the idea that it is just to help with a repair is hilarious because why would they pay to repair or replace an old appliance, but they don't cover new appliances So, you all knew it was going to be old. But if it was repairable you may or may not cover it in full based on criterion I am not allowed to know. If that's not a scam, it is definitely scam adjacent.
So the entirety of your business is to keep consumers ignorant and helpless and get them to pay you for the privilege? No. Consumer protections indicate that consumers should have the ability to make a good decision based on readily available information. If I take my car to the shop they can't just say it will be 1000, no questions asked. They have to break it down. APHW Supervisor did not believe This is a violating consumer protection laws, that consumers are not due itemized claim computation. I will be verifying, but I think that is incorrect. Why would anyone ever give us an itemized receipt or claim or quote if it wasn't required?
For a Christian company (oxymoron) this seems sad and pathetic that they aren't bending over backwards to be transparent. I would have accepted it if they had something to back it up. How do they get to their reimbursement amount and how does the consumer know if a warranty has any value for them if there isn't transparency?
Edit: I posted this under my daughter's account, P. Lucero is the homeowner name if APHW wants to verify. The entire experience is disappointing and even worse is that I recommended APHW to the contractor as he left since he thought the customer service was rather responsive, but he left before they came back with the amount they can't justify. Lol going to have to call him to undo that.

"Almost useless"
Almost useless.
They offered $375 for a failed furnace. I would have been ahead if I just saved the cash. Instead, it will cost more to replace the furnace than if I didn’t have the policy.

"Frustrated"
Alright,
Here’s the deal, this company took our money with a promise of providing assistance in the event of a serious problem arising with something in the house. We have paid for three years now and made no claim. My heater has failed, the technician came out and diagnosed the blower motor as being bad, he also opened the unit up and found rust holes in the heat exchanger, he showed me photos of that. The realistic option at this point was to replace the unit, we’ve been limping it along for years…. Anyway, they said they’d give us 500 bucks on a 9,000 dollar repair including the minor roof repair required. So, maybe I’m dumb and didn’t read well enough, I don’t know. Here’s what I know, they said they don’t care to cover older units, which to me is the whole purpose of a warranty, a new unit isn’t likely to fail… I’m sure they are going to come on here and try and tell you that this is inaccurate but that is not true, believe who you want, they didn’t do what they advertised for me.
Here’s the TLDR: be careful when you purchase a home warranty, read everything and ask a lot of questions, in my experience this was a complete waste of time and money, ymmv, I personally don’t recommend this company.

"America’s Preferred Home Warranty... not worth the time, effort or money."
The steps through their process are time consuming…
You must start the claim before doing anything else. You must call again with the contractor present and in my case call back again with the contractor present again. On all four calls I had to give them my name, address and phone number even though they had my phone number from their call system. The first time with the contractor, that lady wanted my claim number as well. Then they asked the contractor the same questions over and over, including his name, company name, company address and company phone number. Maybe they are trying to catch fraud, but my contractor was on the clock for $220/hour and he spent 25 minutes answering her questions ($92).
They don’t pay for much...
The estimate for the service call with three repairs was initially $600. That included travel time and parts and labor. They finished up quickly, so I’m expecting a bill around $500. After all was said and done, America’s Preferred Home Warranty approved two of the repairs, at a total cost of $150. No travel or other expenses covered. Then subtracting the $100 deductible, they are sending me a check for $50. That doesn’t even cover the amount of time I’ll be billed for the contractor to talk with them on the phone!
In my case I would have been better off without America’s Preferred Home Warranty.

"This company HAS to be a scam"
This company HAS to be a scam. We needed a repair on our toilet. The whole toilet needed to be replaced along with the flange. but because the FLANGE itself was where the failure is, there couldn't cover it AT ALL EVEN THOUGH THEIR POLICY SAYS THAT TOILETS ARE INCLUDED. But no, they don't cover flanges. so no coverage anywhere. The plumber himself tried to reason with them to al least cover the toilet (because again, that's what's covered!) but they still refused to cover ZERO. LEAVING ME WITH THE ENTIRE COST OF REPAIR. There is no benefit to using this company, they will leave you high and dry.

"SCAM"
First, check all the recent reveiws. I am one of MANY......
I've been paying APHW around $50 a month for three years now. I have had to file two claims during that time. The most recent on our boiler system that has failed. I can promise you....this company will blow your mind with how little they actually offer you on a claim. "Up to" is the very important part of their advertising. A $10K boiler replacement will net you $375 in assistance from your trusted home warranty company. My time working with this company over the years has gone comically bad. I never write reveiws, but here I am...Wasting more of my time on this company.
