"APHW are not a reliable partners"

They say don't worry about breakdowns but will leave you stranded with a simple reply "Your Claim cannot be approved".
I live in Michigan. My furnace broke just about when winter was starting. Their response was they can't approve my claim. I ended up replacing my furnace all by myself. I wish there was a possibility to give a 0 rating. Please don't opt for APHW. They will be quick in prompt replacement for small devices which cost less than your annual premium. Please do not rely on them for big equipment like furnaces or HVAC. They will leave you stranded.

"Dumb procedure and dumb coverage"

So I had a refrigerator where the control board failed. First, their procedure. So they have to get a verbal diagnosis and cost estimate from the contractor. This is dumb because I could have anyone on the line and they wouldn't know the difference. Also, I have the invoice with the diagnosis and the cost, but that doesn't count. Second, the coverage. Apparently a control board on a refrigerator, a crucial piece, isn't covered. That's pretty freakin' dumb. My guess is it is a "cost savings" measure because these things probably wear and tear more frequently than others. Thanks for not saving me any money.

Edit #2: Since I can't seem to write a reply to the company's reply, I'll write it on an edit. Of course you could have told me that it wasn't covered, but that doesn't change the fact that the refrigerator needed to be repaired. What am I supposed to do, not have a refrigerator that works? Of course I just paid for it out of my pocket because I needed it repaired so I could, oh you know, store food for my family. If you had told me that it wasn't covered, I would have perhaps just written how dumb the coverage is. Nah, I would still call the process dumb also, because it is. Most warranty companies just need a receipt.

"I purchased my home last year and…"

I purchased my home last year and didn't need to utilize my warranty, but chose to renew in 2022 to cover myself in the event I DID need any repairs on my home. I've called FOUR times this year on things that broken and the warranty says they cover. All four times there was a reason why they don't cover something. 2 times it was because the problem existed before I purchased the home, which I was unaware of. The 2nd time a specific part of my AC unit wasn't covered. This time takes the cake! The springs on my garage door broke. I joked with my fiance that "Your garage isn't attached to your house, therefore it's not covered." When I called to open a claim, guess what I was told? In fact, because I don't have an attached garage they won't cover the cost of repairs. That is the most asinine thing I've ever heard. When the agent offered to send a detailed brochure to explain coverage, I told her don't waste the company money like they've wasted mine. Robbing people is what they're doing! And I read they value themselves a "Christian based company". 🤣🤣🤣🤣😳

"The house we purchased had double wall…"

The house we purchased had double wall ovens. We were excited about them even though we wouldn't be using them all the time. The first time we tried, the bottom one would not work. I opened a claim and had an expert come and look at it. He found that two components needed to be replaced. But, America's Preferred Home Warranty (APHW) refused to pay because there had not been an inspection done on the appliance to prove that it had worked before we moved in. No one at APHW would talk about it. No one would tell me why this made a difference. I bought their product to insure against something not working, that should be working. Thanks for nothing APHW! I would never recommend them to anyone.

"Scam"

Scam. Filed a claim properly, for a specific part which was clearly listed on their list of covered items. Contractor told them what it would cost to fix and they said they would pay less than HALF of the cost.

I see APHW defending their terms in the responses to these reviews, but no one's been able to explain how they DON'T cover what they say they DO cover. How about refunding my premium? that would make up the difference!

Ridiculous company, we and everyone we know are through with them. STAY AWAY.

"Worthless Predatory Service"

Absolutely worthless and predatory service. They don't cover anything and will come up with every excuse in the world for how they don't cover whatever it is you might want fixed. Do not get tricked into wasting a penny on this.

They can't work email and will call you asking you to call back and be put on hold just to learn they aren't fixing the thing you need fixed.

"I would give 0 if it was a option"

I would give 0 if it was a option. I filed 2 claims and both were turned down. They should list what is not covered. This is the worst company I've ever had to deal with. It makes me wonder about any Home Warranty company. I would think they could police their own better. If I had paid for their service I would really be upset. Will not be using their service in the future. Buyer beware🤬

"BUYERS BEWARE - I Don’t Recommend"

My garage door drive belt failed due to age, wear, and tear. Policy stated it covers the garage door drive mechanism as well as the chain.

Claim was denied because they only cover chains, not drive belts. They both do the exact same thing, only a drive belt is much quieter. Furthermore the drive belt is part of the garage door drive mechanism. Without a functioning intact drive belt the door does not move unless you lift or lower it manually.

In spite of trying to explain this the company refused to change their decision as they only cover chains and not belts in spite of them both serving the exact same function.

So BUYERS BEWARE - this company will not apply common sense and logic when evaluating a claim. They will stick to the EXACT wording in their warranty/policy brochure.

"First time using them and wow"

First time using them and wow, I am super disappointed.

1. I have to first call them to file a claim and so they would allow me to call a certified contractor

2. Since all contractors ask for diagnostic fee for coming out, APHW will not pay for that even if they can't cover the repair cost (or won't cover)

3. there are tons of what's not covered and some are burried behind other bigger not covered items so read carefully or they will just won't accept the claim

4. They also ask the contractor if they prefered to be paid by them or me, of course, they all say me, why would they ask that question to the contractor, if I am being reimbursed, there are so many horror stories (see other reviews here).

5. READ all the not covered parts, if there is a period, that means anything related to that would not be covered, read carefully

6. the claim department person I spoke to, sounded like one of those call center from outside the USA. I was on hold for 10 mins (even I was the first in cue), and then another 3 mins hold to tell me I wasn't covered by their warranty protection

I would not recommend anyone to use them, in fact for the same amount you pay, CHOICE covers EVERYTHING (Just an example).

Will be asking for my money back.

"My first experience with them and now…"

My first experience with them and now I’m looking for another home warranty business. This company’s not covered part is larger than what’s covered and make sure you read through jt. Don’t know how they can be in business. There is no detailed information what’s covered or not besides what’s at their website and the not covered area is long. I would not recommend them to anyone.

And Yeap. Like I said. Other warranty company covers everything but not this company. And their yearly prices is the same.not to mention i never gotten a copy of the warranty at all.

The company should explain this instead of sending the client to read those print hiding it behind some other not covered items. Shady.
