"Absolutely dreadful"

Absolutely dreadful. I need my bike to get to work so arranged for it to be returned to me on a Sunday. Bike doesn't arrive when it should and impossible to contact anyone on the phone, via webchat or email. On top of that, everything is extremely expensive (£7.50 for a gear cable and then £12 to fit it; same again for a brake cable). Ends up costing a fortune, bike not being returned to me on time and impossible to contact anyone to discuss. Avoid.

Update: in fairness to havebike, they sorted this out quickly afterwards and have shown good customer service since.

"Overall I'm very happy with their work…"

Overall I'm very happy with their work and customer realations is brilliant. They care about their reputation. I had some work on my bike and when it came back the gears weren't working properly. I complained and they took it back and fixed it. While I'm not happy about having to send it back, I'm happy with their attitude. Mistakes happen, and they put their hands up for this one and retified it. I'll continue using them

"Bikes cleaned?"

I paid for a deluxe service for 3 which included a clean (apparently). 1 was returned with dirt on the tyres and sticky black residue on the frame. The other bike has little white blotches on the frame. It almost looks like it’s been in the rain. I wouldn’t use the service again. I could do it better myself.

"Good, but returned late and extras too expensive"

I have to change this review as I gave it before I had ridden my bike home after it was delivered back to me.

One task they did was change a tube on my rear wheel after a puncture, along with the service. Task 1 after removing the tyre is y to find the thing in the tyre that cause the puncture. They didn’t do this and within a mile of my ride home an other puncture. On top of this the wheel had been so over tightened I couldn’t get it off to put a new tube in myself. Unbelievably slack, who doesn’t check the tyre? Finally I had to wait until after rush hour and get home so I could get the wheel off, and within 1 minute had located the small sharp object in the tyre.

Everyone involved was great. Got the bike back late however.

Extras are too expensive, replacement rear tyre was offered at £60 and could have got both online for £72. And fitting was extra!

"I wish there were more stars to give"

When it comes to booking in a bike service in London, my experience has always been a long wait and then sketchy service. I experienced the exact opposite with Havebike who were quick, super efficient and friendly. My bike is like new again and I can't thank the team at Havebike enough for sorting out my Brompton - which admittedly I had ridden into the ground and not looked after. What a great service and I'll be passing on your details and singing your praises.

"Disappointed with collect & return service"

Used the collect & return service after using HaveBike previously at my place of work and was disappointed with the service. I only got the list of additional costs to review on the morning that I was due to receive the bike back, and the costs were probably about 50% more than I have paid elsewhere. I received my bike back 2 days later than scheduled but had no problems with the work that was done. I won't be using this service again.

"Additional labour costs for each little thing"

It is convenient and cost effective, on paper, but there’s a certain amount of upselling on issues raised with the bike - these then become very expensive (even changing a gear cable comes with additional labour on top of the cable product cost - and this was a “delux service”). I think basic part replacement should not incur additional labour cost - that’s what the outright service cost already addresses. Another example - they took my tyre off to service the wheels. They called to say that actually I needed a new tyre (which I was ok with) but then charged me extra to fit that new tyre (when surely they would have had to fit the old one anyway as part of the service). I really like the customer service and overall convenience, but I expect people will gradually go back to using their local bike shops that don’t actually run this pricing model. Bit of a shame.
