"Useless app"

I downloaded the app, which seems to offer money off vouchers. I have tried 4 different stores, and none of the vouchers worked. The staff could not explain why. Coop is a really dysfunctional company. The prices are awful and uncompetitive.

"First time online shopper with Co-op. Never again."

I did some shopping for the first time ever with the Co-op. Shan’t be repeating that mistake:

First they sent out someone else’s order mixed in with mine, which were it not for my integrity I could’ve had.
Then one of my items was missing.
Then I was charged for 2 carrier bags for 2 small items, despite them only being in one bag, which in any case I gave back as had my own.
Then when I emailed about the missing item, and the mix up, I’d included the total refund to include the bags I’d been charged for but hadn’t used, stating this too.

Long story short, the reply I got back was dismissive, and also felt dishonest. I shopped at the Co-op because I’d thought they were ethical. But charging for items not used, no matter how paltry the amount, adds up. And it seems they’re making a tidy profit from doing so if that’s their standard practice.

I’ve obviously now taken my business elsewhere. In fact I’ve already received an issue free online order from another supermarket.

When I went to write this, I was a bit shocked actually at the volume of similarly negative reviews. Such a shame. It’s the details that count, no matter how small, and really they’re relatively easy to get right. It’s also about treating people kindly and honestly.

"Co-Op needs to rethink their employees' attitude"

Customer service at Co-op is simply terrible. I am sure there is the odd employee who gives their best, but out of 10 interactions only an average of 2 are of a good level, the rest is a bunch of upset sad people going by annoying customers with their poor customer attitude. I had it back in 2020, in the Meadows-Nottingham when amidst a pandemic I was trying to shop for the family and decided to pack things in bags rather than the basket (nearly ended up with me asking for the police to come search me because they were suspicious of my attitude) - funny fact their typical customers all had put their items in bags brouth from home but I was the new face there :/ Then again at Woodhall Spa, Lincolnshire, one of the cashiers just got upset because we purchased additional bags for our shopping and she wanted to attend to the next customers in line for there were quite a few that day. They simply hate their jobs and are miserable doing it. I wrote a letter to the company complaining about the Meadows-Nottingham event and no one said a thing directly to me, but I realised that now in the Meadows-Nottingham Co-Op they have a survey system in place at the till, so you can choose the level of quality of the service. At least that!

"TRAINING ISSUE (?)"

TRAINING ISSUE (?)
Co-op 155 Newmarket, Louth, LN11 9EH.
28/05/2023 10:48hrs ‘Op 9209 Till 2’ Customer Member Card ***************8828

Somewhat disconcerting experience in Co-op Newmarket Store Louth when my debit card was ‘Declined’ on-screen essentially before I’d even presented it (!).

I am disabled and have experienced comparable treatment in other stores to the point were I no longer bother with ‘contactless’ and default ‘PIN’ entry instead.

I do this to avoid the annoyance I feel when perceived prejudice / discrimination on the part of store employees appears to be inappropriately/ maliciously employed to inconvenience/humiliate me etc.

If 'The Co-op' really feels it is advisable to grant employees the facility to morally judge people in front of other customers who they feel might potentially be criminal – and personally I believe it will prove to be a recipe for disaster in the long run- you should at least train them to do so professionally and appropriately.

"Don’t care about local community"

For a business that touts its ethical values it takes no responsibility for its impact on local communities. They take no action to prevent continuing shoplifting as staff are told not to intervene. This makes my local store a target for undesirable people and anti social behaviour. They can’t even be bothered to collect the baskets that the thieves are dumping behind my house. Local staff not interested and no proper contact details for their head office.

"Appalling Customer Service"

Appalling
The Coop hasn’t yet mastered customer service. They don’t answer he phone.
I ordered on Uber paying a customer service fee.
My order hasn’t arrived and it’s been ‘headed my way for 5 hours’
I am £52 out of pocket for the horrible experience of being in limbo and minus bread I’ve paid for,
If the Coop can’t master communication they shouldn’t be offering any customer services, they fail at delivering orders or communicating that they fail
Avoid the Coop the company is useless.
Bitten off more than it can chew.
Gloucester Coop is the worst, unreliable & pathetic

"A nightmare ordeal."

On 26/05/23 a Co-op delivery lorry stopped next to my parked car (Disabled Bay) to let what I’m sure was a learner pass. As the lorry drove off, they hit my car, causing damage to the rear wheel arch (passenger / fuel tank side) and smashed the rear light cover. I’m certain they knew they hit my car but decided to drive off instead. Fortunately, someone witnessed it, and it was also captured on a security camera.

After six weeks of going back and forth with emails and phone calls and dealing with six different companies, my car finally went in for repair. Two and a bit weeks after that, I finally got my car back. Two months in total! 🤦🏻‍♂️

The thing that annoyed me was the time it took before repairs and the number of people I had to deal with. At times, I felt I was talking to a brick wall. The Co-op gave the impression that they couldn’t care less.

I dealt with -

1—The Co-op
2—My Insurance (only to log the incident)
3—The Co-op’s Law Firm
4—A Third-Party Claims Handler
5—Local Garage
6—Hire Car Company

I’m glad the ordeal is now over, and I pray it doesn’t happen again.
