"Don't buy Barbour if you want to stay dry"

Its official Do not buy a Barbour jacket if you want to stay dry.

Thank you for your email.
Please note that Barbour Waxed Jackets are not waterproof. This is due to the wax jackets being designed without tapered seams and with no water-resistant fabric qualities unlike our waterproof breathable jackets.
Although they are designed to be weatherproof, the garment fabric is only designed to repel light showers.
A re-wax will not help with the waterproofing of the garment.

A soaking update !!
Just tried it again walking the dog and it leaked like sieve all of the place. The one positive was the hood kept my head bone dry !! If I could change my review to Zero stars then I would.
Recently bought a brand new Classic Beaufort with a hood. 1st spot of light rain and I ended up with a soaking shoulder. Only one though which was strange ? plus some defective stitching around one of the pockets. I wouldn't expect it to keep out torrential rain but really ? I wonder if the Durham with the extra shoulder cape would fare any better ?

Sent my longshoreman jacket to be repaired and rewaxed .over the moon with the results the repair looks like its always been part of the jacket and to say the jackets from 1996 its kept its character marks just how I wanted it to look .Big thanks to sue for rewaxing .there's no mention of who did the repair but a massive thankyou to all at barbour

"Oh I love it"

Oh I love it! Good quality, true to size, and a beautiful jacket. Standard online shopping experience (no issues when placing order) then good communication (confirmation/dispatched emails) and also delivered well within expected timeframe. No complaints.

"Poor quality chinos"

Received a pair of chinos from my grandson as a birthday present ,waist button fell off after a few days very poor stitching,now after a few washes the colour is fading fast,the quality is poor , customer service don't read email correspondence properly got nowhere with them,I have purchased Barbour clothing for 50 years but won't be getting anymore

"Barbour Tueart Mens Slipper - Brown Suede"

I purchased a pair of these slippers from William Powell in June. I have worn them intermittently, and whilst they look good, they have unfortunately been made in China. The insole is falling apart already and is lifting off the base. I would steer clear of Barbour footwear unless you are sure it has been made in England. Unfortunately, it would appear that the desire for profit margin has impacted quality. The faux shearling is polyester, so unless you want a foul foot, you need to wear socks with them. The product could be improved no end by having a wool interior. I have a pair of UGG boots which cost the same, are superior quality and have been going strong for years.

"I’m giving one star because I can’t…"

I’m giving one star because I can’t give zero, my preferred rating. I placed an order with Barbour uk for two pairs of shoes, never got a confirmation email of their dispatch. So I contacted Barbour via their customer services email. I got a reply, staring a technical fault had the order to fall over. In Barbour’s reply I was asked if I wanted to have the order fulfilled or cancel and to advise them of my decision. I opted to get it fulfilled, replied to Barbour and waited for them to get on with the order again. We’ll I’ve heard nothing, no dispatch, no further emails from them, this is despite me emailing them back twice further. I am now asking them to refund me, but having had no communication from Barbour, not even to the email they asked me to send, I’ll probably have to end up chasing my credit card company for the money. Very poor communication

"Barbour’s repair service is first rate"

Sent a jacket back for repair and rewaxing that was so worn, torn and mouldy I almost binned it. Barbour did an astonishingly expert and attentive job of bringing the jacket back to life. Everything about the service was first rate. I could have bought a new Barbour for not much more in the sale but I think the quality of the repairs will mean this jacket outlasts a new version.

"Awful quality Barbour wellies"

I was bought a pair of Barbour wellies for Christmas. They cost £70 direct from Barbour. I have occasionally walked the dog in them over the last 4-months, around a flat field. I expect that they have only travelled 5-miles or so in that period. The lining at the heel of both boots has worn away and they are now so uncomfortable as to be unwearable. I have contacted Barbour who deem this to be "natural wear and tear". They have offered to replace them with an identical pair. Awful quality at a premium price. There are much better alternatives. You have been warned!
